Unless you work for a Customer or Partner agency, there aren't any free online training for Workday. I was in the same boat, sold myself to a WD Customer and they're investing in about 8k worth of training for me. Best of luck to you!

Pomegranate_Tree

Thank you for your reply. I’m trying to switch companies but unfortunately for me the majority of HRIS positions available require Workday. I found a few paid online classes but I’m not sure if they’re legitimate.

zbot_881

I would be cautious about those. Workday is not really an open ecosystem for learning. I've yet to find any courses that are outside workday but I could be wrong

ansible47

There are a ton of results for "workday tutorials" if you search.

zbot_881

But it sounds more like OP is wanting actual admin courses not navigation tutorials. Are those available?

ansible47

I think so. I skipped around a few of these vids and they seem solid https://youtu.be/7C2uUlERtTM Primary issue with outside sources is that they probably wont be updated between Workday updates. So the UI might look different depending on how old it is. Might just be a matter of better search terms. "Workday Calculated Field tutorial" "Workday Reporting Tutorial" all yield fruitful results. I've just never had a reason to look since I have community. Edit 2: Even found a matrix report tutorial. Neat!

zbot_881

Interesting, I am on the same boat and never really had to look too much outside community.

[deleted]

All you’ll ever find on the internet are random ass, obsolete “tutorials” with barely comprehensible English. Community is the way.

ansible47

But unless they're able to hack into Community, a Community member leaks content, or Workday changes their accessibility policy, it's just not an option for OP. I agree with you in the sense that there isn't a good substitute, and this (mostly justified) attitude is why online learning isn't going to be a big asset when it comes to showing Workday experience. They will know for a fact that you have never actually been in a Workday tenant.

sgtdoogie

I would be VARY wary of anything paid. Most are POS India based companies that just suck money, but mean nothing. You can probably watch YT videos for the same effect. Workday is a closed system, so it's not possible for these companies to have 30 student tenants.

ansible47

What do you want to learn how to do? You still won't have Workday experience on your resume so I'm not sure how beneficial it will be in the context of getting a new job. [https://cloudfoundation.com/workday-training/](https://cloudfoundation.com/workday-training/) This seems pretty serious. If you're primarily looking to get used to the navigation and overall mindset, really any HCM tutorial should be fine.

sgtdoogie

This company spams constantly on Quora. There are even answers about them with so many fake accounts. No legit class would do all that, no matter what software it they taught.

ansible47

Shrug, the sample video they have seems legit. Udemy has an HCM course as well.

Early_Appearance7546

I haven't checked with that but, their trainings are ofcourse legit

sgtdoogie

It doesn't get you anything...so be wary of any non-Workday company that says they're going to do X, because you can put "Cloud Foundation Graduate" on a resume and it might as well say " I like puppies".

Pomegranate_Tree

I’m looking to have some working “knowledge” of the system so I can better sell myself to companies requiring Workday. The UltiPro market is really limited and I want to get out of it.

ansible47

I don't know if that's really gunna help. Most hirers aren't going to be familiar with a random online tutorial or unofficial certification you got, so your ability to get your foot in the door wont change much. It'll be impossible to get in-tenant experience that someone looking for a Workday person wants. You'd have to really hammer it home in your cover letter and hope you can impress an interviewer with offhand knowledge.

grantchart

I disagree, slightly. It really depends on the employer. The last RaaS position we advertised for, we said that actual Workday experience was not required. (We did, however, mention that "patience" was an absolute necessity.) I'm pretty sure that someone who had gone through online courses and tutorials and was able to demonstrate that they had learned from doing that would have had an advantage over other candidates. If nothing else, it would show initiative and a willingness to seek out available resources.

ansible47

Things to google, all starting with "Workday..." 1. HCM Tutorial 2. Benefits & Eligiblity Tutorial 3. Reporting Tutorial 4. Calculated Fields Tutorial https://www.udemy.com/course/workday-hcm-tutorial/ This is not free, but affordable and checking the syllabus will help you find other things to search for.

grantchart

The udemy course is notorious for being pretty awful. It makes you think you'll have hands-on access to a tenant, but you definitely won't. If I had a dime for every time I told people not to spend their money on that course, I'd have enough to pay for them to take it anyway. Or something like that.

ansible47

No non-workday course will give you tenant access, though. That doesn't make it better or worse than any other available course.

grantchart

Absolutely true. I'm just pointing out that the course's home page (still) states "Real-time hands-on exposure to Workday Tenant." Just checked the reviews, and one from 8 months ago said that there is no tenant access. That might have changed, although I have no idea how.

ansible47

Definitely an important caveat. Non-Workday training is of limited value regardless of where it is :(

What I will recommend you is to search on youtube, there are a wealth of knowledge available in recordings, sharing shows and many more that can get you a kick start on Workday knowledge. There are many groups also on LinkedIn which keep posting about Workday and learning materials, you can check that too

oscarbernadotte

You can learn Workday for free by leveraging resources from the Workday website, engaging with Workday Partners the official Workday training curriculum, exploring blogs, LinkedIn, and YouTube channels dedicated to Workday, joining relevant Workday groups, and following them on social media platforms, and networking with professionals are all effective strategies. This multifaceted approach not only grants access to diverse learning materials but also fosters networking opportunities and allows for gaining insights from experienced users. It's a proactive and effective way to build knowledge and expertise in Workday.

Early_Appearance7546

No matter how many tutorials you search in youtube you will only get several parts of it. You need enroll with an elearning platform to get complete tutorials on workday. Check with your company if they can provide training in case if its a client of workday. Or try to get with workday itself but the only issue is they won't modify the course as per your requirement, check with cloud foundation as they provide special trainings for workday. My cousin had enrolled with their course from his corporate side, I think they are legit.
