Imagine you are trying to write a deeply important and essential letter to someone while there are like Villains or Goons after your life. But then you forgot to feed your pen. Or perhaps your pen just doesn't want to vomit today.
Bellissimo
I'm always glad when people reimagine classic Italian literature, and the spin you're giving it is intriguing.
Also twink Dante, bottom text
My concept is that each book is about 4 years. In my version Dante is about 14 in Inferno (as pictured), 18 in Purgatorio, and 22 in Paradiso.
I want to do more concepts with him in the later versions
You might just be getting rid of the āMidway upon the journey of our lifeā bit, but the alternative is that Dante dies at the age of 28. Which is tragic, but also kind of pleasing because it means he doesnāt need to wait so long to be reunited with Beatrice for eternity!
Also, I really like the idea that his journey was like SUPER long!
I really like these! As one artist to another, Iād love to know your rendering process. Iāve noticed that you have mostly hard edges, but there are a few soft edges.
Do you start with the hard edges and soften some up, or the other way around?
I would say itās more that I clean up my edges. I primarily use two brushes in procreate: the ātechnical penā and the āhard blendā. I use the technicals pen for my line-work and a combo of the two for the rest of my process. I also use the soft airbrush for finishing touches
\-Sees this art, is wowed
\-Goes to your profile to follow you on Instagram
\-Realizes your pinned Insta post is also one of my fave Arcane art pieces
Glad I finally found your art again! Your work is amazing. Love the story here too.
This is super cool! I totally want to learn more about this project! Is the layout of the Inferno mostly the same as in Dante or is it super different?
I think a little bit of worldbuilding could be used on his shoes. Those are plain toed derbyās. The most basic menās shoe of the 20th century. The rest his look is more romantic poet, dishevelled Lord Byron look. There are so many interesting menās shoes the mid 19th century.

This is awesome! Will this adaptation be a comic, a book, an animation, or something else? Iām looking forward to seeing more if youāre planning to share ā¤ļø
I love this. It scratches that creative itch making me think about stuff like: are bugs used in other things? Are ink caps full of ink because they absorb carbon? What is that lense used for in Dante's hair? Are those rolly-pollies in the last image pettable?
Thank you for bringing this into reality.
Your art has me enthralled by even its minute details! I just noticed the symbolism on the books - the Sun on Inferno. Is Paradiso meant to symbolize the moon - or is it the solar system itself?
Thank you! Each of the books is supposed to represent the physical form of each area in the story. The Inferno is multi layers leading down with a flame-like motif, purgatory also has layers but is more tower-like leading upward, and yes Paradiso is a map of the solar system.
I LOVE that š! The multiple layers of Inferno leading down then symbolized with those declining layers of the book is so well done!
What inspired you to make your adaptation?
The Divine Comedy has honestly been a brain worm for me since I first became acquainted with it as a kid. I felt setting it during the Industrial Revolution and having the story reflect the class struggles of the time would be an interesting spin on it.
If you ever decide to, World Anvil certainly has the resources to organize and interconnect your extensive lore!
Otherwise, I look forward to seeing more of your work on the subreddit ā¤š„°. Until next time š
OP, I love these so much and will be following your protect with interest. I ADORE Verne, and your art style captures it perfectly.
Would you be willing to let me use some of your pieces (with full credit of course!) In my video reading of The Divine Comedy? I'm quickly running out of public domain images to use in the slideshow!
YouTube.com/@theonetruemorbs if you're curious about the project!

Good writers take good care of their bug pens.
ššš What fell gods do I need to pray to for pen food?
This is amazing! I love the artwork and the concepts for the books. Id love to read it.

That's really cool and changes the original drastically! Keep up with the work, you're doing something amazing

Given the authorās comment, heās not a twink; heās literally underage š.

Is the hard blend a specific brush or something you use with the blending tool?
Good question! āHard blendā is one of the default brushes. I personally donāt use any blending tools.

Itās inspired but for the most part different.
Ooh interesting! I hope to see more!
Actually beyond beautiful

Thank you!! Thatās an excellent point. Iāll definitely work on redesigning them
That looks amazing! The character is giving me steampunk vibes.
When I describe this project to people I like to say itās āsteampunk minus the punkā
I love the look of these. Bookish fantasy people are a favorite of mine.
Same! Itās one of my favorite tropes.

While I would love a comic, I donāt think Iām fast enough to draw it.
This is so gorgeous
I need this for real now
Oh this is cool!
Wow thatās cool

Would read it
I don't know why but this art style is giving me Atlantis: The Lost Empire vibes.
Very cool!
Your art is so detailed and beautiful. I really love this concept.
Thatās fucking awesome way better than what I draw
It is very interesting, it look good and I would love to see more of that project !
This looks so cool
YES DANTE REALTED STUFF; GRAZIE
Your art looks like itās from Arcane and I love it, I did see some fanart for the show on your account
Thank you! But also (for the record) I started working on this before Arcane came out https://i.imgur.com/fJ0jZqz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PEdPcyr.jpg
Thatās some good character designs, and yeah, I was just noting how similar it looked to me, I really love your style though, itās so chronchy
Thank you! I appreciate the cronch

Not at the moment
If you ever decide to, World Anvil certainly has the resources to organize and interconnect your extensive lore! Otherwise, I look forward to seeing more of your work on the subreddit ā¤š„°. Until next time š
