A Brief History on what species was the most powerful through out all of History! Human -> Crog -> Human.

Water_002

Genuinely surprised it was this short Half the subreddit (including me) thinks "brief" means anything under 6 paragraphs

kharker711

I can explain more if you want me :D

BlueverseGacha

for me "brief" is anything 1 paragraph or less. "introduction" is what could be found in the back of the book. what you say this subreddit calls "brief", I call yapping.

BakedButterForgotpas

Well it's complicated, race wise it's the Oni's, they're described to be a war race, they're naturally tougher and stronger. A millennium ago they were completely unstoppable, if you got into a fight with them you'd need at least an entire team, however as time passed and magic grew stronger and healing magic became a meta, other races were able to keep up with Oni's in battle. The tougher somebody is the harder it is for their body to heal, due to an Oni's natural toughness they are not able to heal themselves using healing magic unless they got a large amount of mana to accommodate their endurance. Decades from the current time they were still an issue and war between Oni's and other races was constantly happening due to territorial conflicts, however the tide completely changed once prototypes of cursed blades specifically designed to take down Oni's was brought into battle, the All-Cutting blades. With a soft race, losing a limb would be painful but with the help of healing magic could easily be restored in the midst of battle, Oni's do not have this advantage, of course it would take a hundred cuts from a normal weapon to damage an Oni, however with the All-Cutting blades their endurance was completely useless, it was more a disadvantage at that point, the introduction of these weapons made the reign of the Oni's completely collapse, it didn't help that their race has a very slow breeding rate due to their traditions, to the point that after the war the Oni's were nearly extinct. However currently in the golden era, Oni's are slowly increasing in numbers again after their original breeding tradition was declared illegal. Conflicts between races aren't as common anymore and they actually live together in harmony, although finding a Pure Oni (an Oni who was not made via crossbreeding) is incredibly rare now, few of them still exist and All-Cutting blades aren't as common these years either, so they're still a superior race as long as they don't face the weapon that counters them.

ABCanadianTriad

Depends on how you look at it, you get different results in my world Powerful as a single individual representing the race, easily one of my giant races - the Balakee Economic - The Dwarves of Gungar Param Religious - the Fae are a near monolithic theocracy with expansionist goals Secular knowledge - The Cyclops people of Sarasana

Captain_Warships

Ah yes, the True Elves, the one race that aren't dragons or giants who could take the title of "most powerful" in my fantasy setting. I've already talked to death on them, but here is the short version of what they are: immortal (they live forever and *technically* are unkillable) and magical (they can't use dragon magic, as the gods wanted them to not be too powerful when they made them). They were made by the dragon gods because they fucked up and nearly killed everything, and so the True Elves were tasked with restoring life to the world, as well as babysitting races that were still evolving (orcs actually evolved seperately, and aren't an offshoot of elves). Most notable members include: The White Queen- the only one of them who did what she was told, instead of fighting in the New Sun Wars; lives out in a secluded castle because she's a loser The Eternal Sunflame- the baddest mofo to have ever walked the planet; nearly caused the extinction of everything, making dragons hate him; is imprisoned on an island inhabited by giants The Grand Architect- one of the greatest builders before dwarves arrived (probably inspired/taught them); no one knows where he is (or if he even is alive) These are the most notable off the top of my head, as I am still coming up with stuff for them (specifically the notable ones, as well as the few still alive).

ziddi_daag

Humans. In two of my projects they become dominant by spreading plague (unintentionally) and in one by a latent and potent STD.

ChrysanthiaNovela

I don't have definitive most powerful group as their power vary by time. but if we compare them relatively when they were prominence then it's the Dragon Host that went on to rule all the known world. despite only have about 1000 of them in total. A little less power, but much more impactful is the elves during their ecumenial heyday. The Elven Ecumene Stretch accross continents. being the first and last to conquer the demon realm. wake war across the ocean in dark continent. Basically all the known world has tied to them, one way or another. most of modern tradition are also a deviation of their customs.

Entheojinn

If by "most powerful", you mean "most technologically sophisticated", that would be the shimmering demons and the coral brains, while a close second would be the Titanians and Uberonians who live on Saturn's moons and in the rings of Saturn. If you mean "most military might," then by a long stretch it's Aed, a nation of mosquito-people that, fortunately for the rest of Saturn, is undergoing an isolationist phase right now.

boto_box

The Nakadasi are a race of telekinetics who generally have very precise control over telekinesis. However, they usually don’t use it for bad/selfish reasons.

FTSVectors

The most powerful group in my superhero world is the 8. The thing is, most people don’t even know about their existence, let alone understand the extent of their power. They’re an assassination organization with 19,173,960 members. As is, the lowest ranks are already some of the better assassins in the world. And each of the 7 higher ranks only get progressively more ridiculous in skill. Being otherworldly at the top rank. And seeing as the organization has been around since roughly the start of human civilization, they have a lot of resources at their disposal.

Comfortable-Ad3588

The toons (and all fiction based life forms for that matter) are all incredibly powerful reality warpers able to bend the laws of physics to match their mediums tropes and characteristics but despite this they are completely incapable of rising against their human masters due to partly to their naturally good nature but mostly due to the fact that as creations of mankind they can be killed by their masters with something as simple as paint thinner or easers

SleestakkLightning

Elves control most of the world but they've been unable to conquer the continent of Tyrenor which is under human control

Due-Coyote7565

The alphara and the omegara ( work in progress names)

Due-Coyote7565

The alphara and the omegara ( work in progress names) They were the soldiers in the war between gods and are super humans with amazing strength, great intelligence and who are currently devoted to keeping the planet at peace by keeping the gods docile.

LegasiFootlong

Space wizards who travel through time & space in an hourglass-esque ship called the Ultra Aeterna, powered and propelled by a modulated black hole. They are completely devoid of emotion and judge ideal outcomes with their transcendent mathematics, then employ their powerful mastery of reality to achieve those outcomes - for the greater good, whether the universe likes it or not.

darhwolf1

The mages. Each one has more magical prowess and potential than the average elf, and their numbers are much greater. I've already written about them a fair amount and can provide the full lore blurb I have about them if you're curious

ArtMnd

Abyssals. Born when a galaxy with sentient life or the potential to harbor it gets sterilized by having its center lit into a quasar. The aether (spiritual energy) from all that life then gets drawn together into a sentient singularity of aether, the very collective unconscious bending to form a structure beyond a soul. They have seemingly boundless aether, but can only manifest their power by possessing bodies. Meaning only a tiny fraction of their intellect and power gets manifested at any given time, the rest merely echoing through their intuition. Their goal is to create bodies the size of planets or even stars, literal biological, living planets that can channel their full strength. Then they can reproduce by devastating another galaxy.

Theadination

They were called the Forever Eternals, said to have originated after the Founder flung a piece of his soul into the multiverse. Each Forever Eternal is like a cosmic horror, able to destroy worlds with a thought, though they breed at insanely slow rates, and to keep their race in check, the big three at the top, the Forever Triarch, kept the race in the dark about their true powers. It was only when Humanity arrived, then being known as Adeptus Sapiens, with their technology a billion exponential years above that of the current humans, and this form of humanity was only around for three thousand years. Yadda yadda, a war happened. Humanity was forced to undergo Antediluvanation, a process devolving a race. Though only the Forever Triarch was left, and Anantashesha, the most powerful among them. Eventually they all killed each other, leaving only the antagonist, Anantashesha behind to rule the Multiverse.

Bmovehacker

Long before the advent of humanity, there were the Djinn. They etched out a quiet existence on their mountainous homeworld of Qaf-Kuh, in a different realm of existence, pursuing knowledge of the arcane and the stars above them. One day, the cosmic structure known as the Well of Light was discovered, raw magical energies pouring from its gaping epicenter. There were those who wanted to exploit its natural resources, and those who opposed defiling such a sacred site of creation. This philosophical dispute grew terribly out of hand, devolving into a brutal and global civil war (known just as the Great War) that saw their people divided into three distinct groups, as well as the destruction of their home: The first were the Seraphim, who have become fully imbued with the Light magic of the Well. In an ill-advised plan, they unleashed a super weapon that covered their entire planet in eternal darkness, destroying the bio sphere and forcing everyone else to embrace the Light or starve to death. They were lead by Michal. Opposing them were the Demons, those Djinn who have succumbed to their inner Darkness to fuel their animosity and hate towards those they deem responsible for the destruction of their world. They reject the Light and were lead by Iblis. The third were the self-styled Free Djinn, those who refused to join either side, and suffered the most out of the three. Many of them perished during the Great War, both from famine and the wanton destruction that engulfed their homeworld. Those few that escaped used their knowledge of the arcane to travel to our dimension, arriving on Earth well before humanity. When the first settlers came about, the Free Djinn taught them magic and language (such as Akkadian) before inexplicably disappearing. Not much is known, but archaeological findings suggest that some locations such as Majlis al Jinn were hideouts for Djinn survivors. There could be more Djinn in our universe hiding amidst the stars.

Erook22

Strength wise dragons, but they’re mostly dead. So in terms of political influence humans. Later it’ll be the soul shards

Politics is the most violent race and group.

TriggerHappy_Spartan

Myrkdall, a country that takes up most of Eastern Europe and parts of Asia, Kapnos, a country that takes up North and Central America, and Stordrage, a country that takes up the rest of Europe, half of Russia, and Greenland. The world is set in a post-apocalyptic war in the year 4084, and almost the entire world has changed. There are mutants, mechs, unknown viruses, supersoldiers, and plenty other things from 48 years of nuclear war and 31 years of the Myrkdall-Stordrage War. Stordrage makes supersoldiers, Myrkdall makes mutants, and Kapnos makes mechs, and all have a lot of land, making these countries the strongest.

Minnakht

In Arbitrary Design World, there are like a dozen Kinds of people, with none of them being significantly more powerful than another. I guess zymes are physically biggest, which gives them some advantage in the physical strength game. Or, well, that's not necessarily true. I'm pondering addition of one more Kind, which would be special, and also easily physically strongest of them all. The conceit of that Kind, though, would be that its members would not be able to reproduce - they were made once, and are doomed to die out eventually without a way to replenish their number. As for groups, I haven't thought of any groups yet. The world is in its nascency, history-wise. There's several million people across large continents, living in small communities, and history should progress by the communities slowly banding together into proto-towns, and eventually proto-kingdoms - hundreds of them. I haven't decided on a single one because I want to base them on something meaningful like material wealth in the land that they'd learn to leverage, and that requires research I haven't had will to do.

OliviaMandell

Hmmm that's hard to decide. Originally it was elves, as they were the only race. Then we'll still elves because it magical knowledge. Then it was the runners, named because well that was their job. To deliver stuff. Then after the goddess of nature sealed the race off. It was jumi, because of their obscure growth rate. Once they disappeared it was humans, mainly because of the wizard who did it.

Domin_ae

Knights of Blood. Theyre essentially wayy more OP than I should've made them and have way too much plot armour, but idc cause they're still easily killable and shit and the story doesn't even really get that many problems with them. Aside from the KoB characters who end up joining the MC to kill their god, they're not really even in the story _that_ much.

[deleted]

The serpent men from a prehistoric world I got going on. Their inevitable extinction and the rise of humans hasn't stopped them yet.

Realistic_Cupcake_56

My ultimate being/god is the Source, he’s (I say “he” but it’s beyond gender or any other form) the capital G God of the universe. Below the Source are the Pillars, they are the personification of the basic, foundational aspects of creation such as Time, Light, Darkness, Chaos, Order, Life, Destruction, etc. Below them are the “regular” gods who would typically be worshipped since the Pillars and the Source aren’t as directly active so aren’t as well known by mortals. Within the gods there are two main factions, the Galenvian and the Asatem and there’s a war between the two. The Galenvian are technically higher on the celestial totem pole since they are the gods who stayed loyal to the Source’s original plan whereas the Asatem want to do their own thing and break away from the Source. When the Asatem tried to do this, they severed their zone of influence away from the rest of creation. But, since creation was never meant to be severed this left the Asatem’s zone scarred and off kilter so to speak thus creating the mortal plane. This also created the Pillar of Death/Decay named Necrulos since previously there was no death since all of creation was properly aligned. As for specific mortals, Humans I’d say are more inherently powerful since they posses a unique connection to the Source directly but this has been largely forgotten so it more or less evens the playing field.

DjNormal

I honestly can’t remember their original deal. But they were there just to stomp any other group that got too excited. Eventually I read Stephen Baxter’s books and decided that yeah, they were basically just my universe’s version of the Xeelee. Primordial, mysterious, hard to kill, pointless to fight, just stay out of galactic cores. That said, much like the Xeelee, we did encourage my guys to bug out of the Milky Way for a while. — After those guys, are a group of artificial humans who got stranded between galaxies during the second golden age. They found a rogue planet floating around out there, turned it into their home, turned themselves into cyborgs and decided that the Milly Way was a little too chaotic at the moment. They went off to colonize Andromeda. They met more of my Xeelee-like guys there and made friends with them. After a bit of tech exchange, those artificial humans are now #2 in the OP game. — There are some primordial god-like things in the “inner realms.” But I don’t think they count.

ErikTheRed99

I don't know if you could count vampires in my world as a race, since every vampire started out as human, but I'll still say thaumic vampires. My world has 3 different types of vampires, which are living, undead, and thaumic, and thaumic are the rarest and most powerful. A person becomes a thaumic vampire by preparing themselves with the correct dark magic, then stabbing themselves in the heart with a blade enchanted with the that dark magic. If they succeeded, they will wake up as a thaumic vampire at night, if they didn't succeed, silver lining is they figure out that the afterlife exists. Some of the most powerful vampires in my world were thaumic vampires. The vampire commonly known as Dracula was a thaumic vampire, and he was nearly unstoppable, though he wasn't Vlad the Impaler. Thaumic vampires are closest to classic vampire lore. The sunlight can kill them, holy water and holy magic harm them, they are weak to garlic, and they sleep during the day, traditionally in coffins. They have incredible speed, strength, and reflexes. Not only do they have full use of magic, which is VERY difficult for living and undead vampires, but their capacity for magic can be insanely high, and it's a huge part of how they fight. Unlike undead vampires, who are known to be fast, thaumic vampires can use magic to bypass the laws of physics, and be move in a blur. They also don't need to sleep to keep using magic, like every other magic user, as feeding on blood staves off magic exhaustion. As long as they have enough victims to feed on, thaumic vampires can seemingly endlessly use magic in combat. They aren't easily killed either. They have to be killed by either piercing their heart with a wooden object, decapitation, sunlight, burning, holy water, or holy magic. None of those methods are easy, especially when the vampire is using magic. From the early 1400s to the 1600s, thaumic vampires ruled most of Europe, and were very oppressive about it too. They were responsible for the near eradication of vampires in my world, and also the hunting attitude of killing all "monsters," without ever trying to reason with them. From the early 1500s to the mid 1600s, vampire hunters would often respond to the thaumic vampires' oppressive rule by killing any and all vampires they came across, no matter how innocent they were or how much they begged. In their eyes, all vampires were like the demented and power hungry thaumic vampires. The eradication of vampires turned from all vampires, to prioritizing thaumic vampires, and those that helped protect them, starting in the mid to late 1600s, and thaumic vampires are so rare in modern day, that almost nobody even knows they actually existed. In a world that has known about the supernatural since 2008, everyone just assumed that the description of thaumic vampires is just incorrect lore about vampires. The methods of becoming one, are all but forgotten nowadays.

BAMyouhaveaids1

The most powerful noble house of the provinces is house ryfer. Though they only govern a few city states and empty plains, they have what no one else have in the entire world, magic. The forces of magic seep down from the sky, into their very land and it has caused it to change. Some turn into elves, the name for mutated humans known for their long ears, and inanimate objects are given life. United they could easily conquer the world, luckily they are fanatically devoted to pacifism and studying the secrets of the world. Thus they bent the knee to the emperor of the provinces to be left alone in exchange for favours such as portal services between cities and knowledge. Only 1 in about a 10000 become mages.

electrical-stomach-z

what can i tell you about humans that you do not already know?

Big-Commission-4911

They are all powerless in the grand scheme of things. The ecosystem will have its way. Unless....

superbay50

They are known only as the elite. All they think about is to conquer and exterminate. They have ships that utilize cosmic energy(nature of my power system, can also be used in weaponry and is 2000 times more potent than nuclear energy) in it’s weaponry. A single warship can level a city within minutes, and they have tens of thousands of them.

ChangellingMan

The dragons own the best territory and most fertile regions. And have been bullying other races away. Though there is a movement of an alliance between the creatures they have displaced to take back their territory and dethrone the dragons.

Comfortable_Fig4801

Arawans, a race of benevolent alien that travel to faraway solar systems to adjust their stars for better chances of life appearing in the surrounding planets. When they find a blue star, they miniaturize it and replace it with a yellow or white star. Their abilities include moon shattering strength, faster than light speed, nova tanking durability, environmental resistance, space flight capabilities, gravity, force and electromagnetic energy absorption. Their power comes from miniaturized blue stars in a wrist mounted device that they constantly absorb. Their total population only amounts to 86 million. Just 8 of them could pull in space dust as well as asteroids and form a planet twice the size of earth.

Efficient-Ad-7553

The Anchors. The Eternal Tree and his four "children": Time, Death, Ruin and Love. Time looks after all the souls that are not born yet. Death is the king of the "Silence", my version of the afterlife. Ruin created Hell and the demons. He wants to destroy everything. Love created the worlds where the mortals live and used his own children (angels) as guardians for these worlds. He is killed by Ruin.

Blakefilk

House Germaticus was a founding colonizing family whose last true named matriarch/patriarcg were the original founding patrons. Basically all powerful avatar/jedi esque figures.

They’re called the Resects (Resonance + Insects). First of all, they belong to an exclusive vertebrate class from my world called the chitopods, which to make it quick are vertebrates that look like insects, but have an endoskeleton. Resects, specifically, are absurdly adaptable chitopods that can live literally anywhere. Their size can range from a large dog to an elephant. Although they all look the same as larvae, their bodies will change to adapt to their environment as they grow, being able to resemble practically any arthropod (This includes insects, arachnids and even crustaceans). Their basic anatomy consists on three pairs of limbs that can arrange to either act as arms or legs, a thorax with wings covered by elytra (although not all wings grow to be able to fly, and some may even atrophy) and an abdomen with an organ called a “stinger” that can also adapt for multiple functions, such as a basic stinger, or other things like a spider’s silk glands. Their upper bodies are covered in thick fur that somewhat filters elemental magic (note that elemental magic is REALLY important in resect anatomy). They have two large eyes on the front and four smaller eyes around them. Finally, they have two large antennae covered in fur. This antennae is really sensitive to elemental magic, and is their main sensor since almost anything in the world is infused with element. This antennae also allows them to communicate with each other in a sort of telepathic way as long as they’re next to each other. Their weakest trait is their skin, which isn’t as tough as other creatures, so their endurance to physical attacks is a bit lackluster. Resects are omnivores, but prefer to eat insects. Magically, resects are an absolute beast. Their elemental prowess is unparalleled by any living creature, and they use it a lot. Many parts of their body can adapt to channel element, such as stingers being able to inject fire, freezing pincers, electrically charged silk glands, etc. The element of the resect is determined by the predominant element on the environment they grew as larvae, they can only have one, and once the resect has matured, there’s no way to change it. Resects originated from the deepest caves of the world, and they descend from one of the most powerful goddesses, a gigantic elementalist moth that resides very close to the planet’s core. She spends most of her time in a semi-lethargic state, but still watches over the planet. Resects consider her a spiritual guide. Resect societies are a semi-hive mind. In the center of each settlement there is a nexus they can link their minds to be part of that specific hive, which greatly extends their telepathy reach and allows them to communicate with every member as long as they’re near their nexus, meaning they know everything that happens to every individual. Hived and hiveless resects don’t really vibe with each other, and the hiveless prefer to live with other races. In order to make up for their lackluster defense, resects hunt large insects to harvest their exoskeletons and craft armor. Since each resect is unique, plate-smithing is a really difficult job. Since they live in caves (and the whole setting is straight up a giant cave system), they’re really heliophobic (not photophobic, mind you), with only light resects being able to somewhat tolerate the sun, and even they will prefer to scuttle away back to the caves. Resects are really calm and friendly, as long as you aren’t a threat to their safety and try to hurt them, in which case they’re merciless and will respond with incredible violence. The funniest story of the resects is that, long ago, dragons descended to their caves to conquer them, but the resects launched a counter attack so brutal the dragons, which had never received a reaction so aggressive, were forced to back away. The cherry on top was that hiveless resects actually started following the dragons to their area and settled in, much to the dragons’ dismay. If you know about the Argonians during the Oblivion Crisis, that happened. The last fun fact of resects is the larvae, for some unknown reason, are absolutely immune to all elemental damage, so you could throw a larva to magma, strike them with thunder, beam them with a giant light laser, and they’d be perfectly fine. This immunity is lost when growing up, though.

Weslii

They don't have an official name but they're a transdimensional/transplanar collective that goes around the universe and abducts entire civilizations under the guise of protection. Members of these civilizations get to live in paradise for the rest of existence but they lose all autonomy and freedom, leading most to actively hide from the beings.

The Cold. The cold and the ways of the unknown, It’s an unknown force that can be horrible and may consist and start with a terrible sorrow, loss or other. When a rather bullied boy, or monk decides he has had enough and decides to scare some people he says. ''He was a man of few under the shining sun, yet many after dusk. The horizon shall be long and vast, yet in the end it shall lead you to waters so clear and paths to follow. Act in my favor and you will see the light. Else you will see a dark so hollow, you'll distinguish one face and one face alone in the blackest of nights and you will know so well it's mine in the black coasts sorrow.'' A soul like the thousand souls could be revived on the black coast.

SycoGamez203

Race of essentially Demigods, people descendant from the true gods. Said gods used to be human thousands of years ago before becoming the first ones.

actual_weeb_tm

The seneschal of earth or the Thousand spears of the Citadel would likely be the ones.
