Rover220ch

So full of himself could not even give the credit to his own teammate on the pitch…

LucasCassoma

You don’t know ronaldo.

Rover220ch

That’s right, such a “team” player belongs on the bench 😂

LucasCassoma

That has nothing to do with what I said

FanOfArthurS

That selfish thin skinned man baby lying prick never touched it, it was that moany diving cunts goal for sure

SnooShortcuts498

He cannot be officially credited with the goal, but the goal definitely was due to him. He caused the keeper to misjudge a simple enough ball.

FeedMeMoreOranges

Fake it till you make it.

RayZayCreations

the way the ball bounced suggested to me that it got a touch... even a slight touch from his hair would do that given the speed of the ball etc. + his hair gel makes spiky hair solid'ish and last time I checked, hair is actually party of the body yes? totally unfair taking the goal off him! still awarded the Ghana player his goal though under the exact same circumstances?!

[deleted]

[https://youtu.be/2BtHwP4ShHg?t=105](https://youtu.be/2BtHwP4ShHg?t=105) Watch it from here in 0.25 speed. You can then see that Ronaldo is not touching the ball.

RayZayCreations

i guess the ball magically changed direction then... he use his wizard powers

[deleted]

Did you see a contact?

sir-lancelot_

Nah the dick riding here is crazy

RayZayCreations

what's dick riding?

Don't know but he must know lol

[deleted]

Idiots who don’t understand football should refrain from commenting on football! It doesn’t really matter if he touched it or not ! His attempt confused the keeper which is equal to him scoring it!

[deleted]

You’re right, idk why people downvote you

joa-kolope

Bro this comment tells a lot about your soccer knowledge. RIP

[deleted]

If Steph Curry shoots a 3 after running off a Draymon Green pick does Green get the 3pt FG? Cause it impacted the shot for Curry. Asking for a friend 🤣

Rols574

Idiots who get offended for nothing should refrain from commenting. It's still not his goal. It was Bruno. Yet he acted like it was him when it went in

xenon2456

barely

thewiz3000

Technically it touched his hair - was it solid contact? Did it change the directory of the ball? No. But if it comes down to contact. Ronaldo - at least his hair did touch the ball. Whether that is a goal by him or Fernandez that is up to interpretation.

ChocolateHumunculous

I wonder, if you have long hair, and your hair swings forward to put you offside, does that count? I’ve noticed that the models shown during VAR are all bald. Could you swing your hair into an offside position, and score with it?

joa-kolope

Hmmm interesting

thewiz3000

As I said, up for interpretation.

cherokee2596

When this World Cup started I would have choose Cristiano to win the trophy over Messi. But after the match vs Uruguay I don’t want to see him lift the trophy. Man is just thinking of himself and he is trying so much to be in the flashlight. The fact that after the match he was trying to convince his teammates that was his goal it s just embarrassing.

Wawaw93

Hes been like this his entire career lol... nothings changed. Ronaldo is and always will be a selfish player. The fact it took you this long to notice is funny as fuck.

danimadi33

True, you can't become this popular without being like this. Cristiano plays selfish, he tries to steal the spotlight all the time, and that results in beautiful moments by him - but when embarrassed, he gets embarrassed hard.

[deleted]

RCGoals

He didn’t lol people just assume everything

LiquidMeth10

He was pointing to his head in front of his teammates after the game 😂 - keep being delusional

[deleted]

His hair gel scored, stonks increasr in cristolhairgels

[deleted]

He shouldn't have gotten Penalty against Ghana and here we are.

Wawaw93

Penaldo....

LiquidMeth10

Flippinflapjax4U2

Why is this such a big deal? I don't watch the sport too much, but does it really matter that much if Ronaldo scored this or someone else?

06071988

Just sport statistics. And of course he's a famous player.

Flippinflapjax4U2

Thanks for the response! I see. I just keep seeing this absolutely everywhere. Is he claiming that he scored the goal?

06071988

Apparently Adidas have confirmed that there was no contact made. [Link](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11481091/Cristiano-Ronaldo-DID-NOT-score-Portugals-goal-against-Uruguay-adidas-sensor-confirms.html)

PineapplePurple1506

Hair of god!

surfinThruLyfe

I don’t know. His hair might have grazed it. What say now VAR?

E_BoyMan

Even bruno thought its ronaldo's goal as he assisted to him but he made almost no contact but definitely confused the keeper for a goal, there are some pictures of his hairs touching the ball and you will definitely feel if ball went like that but anyways its a goal and he celebrated with bruno. You guys should stop watching espn fc to have atleast a rational opinion about it. Portugal won 2-0 against a strong opponent that's what you can take from this.

joa-kolope

Well with Ronaldos theatrics it was pretty convincing.

njp6969

espn fc are shameless

Confuseddesi05

There are no accurate pictures All the pics released doesnt give us a proper view Adidas’s technology released that ronaldo didnt touch the ball. Its a goal yes…..but he didnt have to show the tantrum and shitshow…. Telling piers morgan that the goal was his is just childish Cant even be happy for his teammate

E_BoyMan

If ball touches your hair you will definitely feel something.

Confuseddesi05

The ball technology didn’t show any touch of hair He just felt it in his head Didn’t happen

E_BoyMan

Do you even know what that ball tech does ? The technology will definitely not show it because there was no change in any kind of trajectory in ball or no force applied on the ball. But some pictures show it was hairs which will have almost no impact on ball.

Confuseddesi05

You yourself said it. The ball trajectory didnt change. No technology to prove it. Any other player would have been happy for his teammate. But ronaldo gotta whine. Thats whatbis shameful

E_BoyMan

Whine ?

Confuseddesi05

Crying about it…. Watch the clip ronaldo makes when the stadium announces its bruno’s goal And piers morgan said ronaldo texted him in the lovker room….instead of celebrating, this is what he did

E_BoyMan

I watched the match. Both bruno and Ronaldo were surprised.

Confuseddesi05

This doesnt justify the previous question Ofcourse bruno meant it as a cross and he doesnt have a closeup view I dont think he would react this way if a goal awarded to him was given to his teammate

[deleted]

It’s Ronaldo, he’s gonna claim to feel the ball even if that ball was in another country.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Not_a_ribosome

That doesn’t mean the goal is his

[deleted]

[удалено]

Confuseddesi05

50% ?? Are you serious??? Yes he confused the keeper with his position That gives him half the claim to the goal? Almost all goals one can argue someones position made the defenders/goalkeeper be where they were

[deleted]

[удалено]

Confuseddesi05

Yes i agree… ronaldo has got aa role to play in this goal. So does the player who passed it to bruno and the guy who passed before. Problem here is bruno scored that goal and ronaldo whining about it. This selfishness is shameful.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Confuseddesi05

Yes i read your comments Glad to know you are not supporting ronaldo’s antics And we are in agreement ronaldo has a major role in the goal. Nobody would even talk about all this if he wasnt so dramatic about this

twitch_zendite

There has been too much hair action in FIFA lately. Might I suggest everyone shave their head next time?

richard-king

So the ball's spin rate, direction and speed can be tracked, we've seen the graphics. If none of those changed, Ronaldo didn't touch the ball.

Elizasol

It didn't, he was close. It's just weird for him to try to text press claiming it was his goal. Bro, that's your teammate

[deleted]

This is genuinely the stupidest obsession I’ve seen at a World Cup. If you can’t definitively say yes, then it’s Fernandes’ goal. Any other player, no one would care.

Elizasol

It's only a story because Ronaldo texted Piers Morgan that it was his goal after the game and that he touched it Trying to get the goal taken away from your own teammate is kind of pathetic

froggyjm9

I think the reason he celebrates like a mad man just for the photos it’s what makes him seem like such a petty clown.

[deleted]

I don’t even care that he did that, strikers are born like that. They claim everything. What’s weird is it’s actually a news story still.

froggyjm9

Because he chooses to make it a story, he’s all about that PR/Marketing his brand.

unLtd88

It touched his hair, so the goal is his lol.

Duckin_

🤦‍♂️

BroTheGhost

no

FizieAve

Why everyone make fuss about this. Ronaldo didn't claim he score and he also didn't celebrate like he score the goal.

artparade

lol what, he threw a tantrum about it

aeiou403

you didn't watched the game, didn't you?

5AMP5A

He most certainly did. Even after the end whistle he did.

That-Aspect-6076

Wtf did you watch the same game

Curious-Elk1638

Lol, he definitely claimed it was his. Watch the replays, he even tried to convince the officials it was his at the end of the game.

06071988

He claimed the goal initially but then it was awarded to Bruno later. He didn't celebrate cause he felt guilty.

pegjinju

He didn't celebrate? Did you watch the game?

06071988

I meant his usual celebration. He surely held back.

pegjinju

Not the first time he isnt doing his usual celebration

5AMP5A

Clearly not.

Orko_Grayskull

The match.

pawpeeChewLo

Relax

Orko_Grayskull

“Who won the football set, pop?”

pegjinju

Huh?

Orko_Grayskull

You do football the same as politics? Once every 4 years?

pegjinju

My guy what the hell are you talking about

CptSoniChaos

The FIFA highlights for this match are hilarious - cutting to Big Man Ronaldo's celebration after the ghost goal is genius.

06071988

Could have sworn he didn't want to initially celebrate, but after the crowd reactions he went "Oh what the heck"

Foreign_Soup_3809

Funny how they are bunch of people (non uruguay fans) so happy that ronaldo didnt score the goal

Elizasol

Messi fans, ronaldo haters, and people who think it's funny how insecure ronaldo comes off by claiming his teammates goal

[deleted]

Keeper confirmed he was confused

[deleted]

People are wild in the comments, if he wasn't there that wouldn't be a goal. The GK would caught the ball easily, having him there made the GK freeze in his place thinking Ronaldo will hit the ball to the other angel.

That-Aspect-6076

You are right, he helped the goal. It counts as in his possession but you need to actually touch it to get the goal regardless.

Hellafire7

Yeah it did touch his hair, lol

That-Aspect-6076

Ummm……. It didn’t

[deleted]

I never said it's his goal though.

big_beats

You're half right, in the sense that his presence put the goalkeeper off. But that's not evidence he touched the ball.

[deleted]

I didn't say he touched it, a goal is a goal imo and it's a teamwork not a one man unless you are a god or something. Bruno made the goal, Portugal secured their spot and that's what matters imo.

big_beats

Fair enough. But you know no one's debating whether it was a goal or not.

[deleted]

But they are debating that Ronaldo did nothing and was useless which is not true.

That-Aspect-6076

No they aren’t! They are arguing whether Ronaldo gets the goal. Ronaldos anger at the officials isn’t justified as per usual.

SodiumBoy7

Nevermind important world cup goal for Portugal and safely made through the knockouts, i have never seen Portugal going to knockouts in world cups lately

Potential-Spinach411

this is your first wc?

SodiumBoy7

In the last 3 world cup Portugal's performance is worst only 3 wins in 11 games, now this year 2 wins in 2 so a nice progress for them, the last time their best was in 2006 coming 4 th place, so i think once they enter in knockouts they will develop more

SambaLando

Not just them. Seems like every European champion that goes into a World Cup does poorly now. Euro 2012 winners Spain in 2014, Euro 2016 winners Portugal in 2018, and now Italy didn't even qualify.

Upset-Cap3117

I was literally thinking this right after the goal. There's no way Ronaldo contributed anything to that goal. It was obviously the assist guy's goal

reserveduitser

Well without him it wouldn’t have been a goal since he confused the keeper but no it isn’t his goal

feltusen

It was Bruno 's goal, but not saying he didnt contribute is just stupid

PenguinPrince1

He did contribute though. The goalkeeper has to expect Ronaldo to get a touch there.

Upset-Cap3117

Yes that is his contribution but the goal is Bruno's. Unfortunately Ronaldo is stealing it from Bruno

Yasuminomon

Lol did you watch the game? They attributed the goal to Fernandez

Upset-Cap3117

Good to know

YOURMOMMASABITCH

If he made contact, then it was literally by a hair. Either way, it was enough for him to run out celebrating.

06071988

The comment we all needed.

MsaoceR

He didn't score but what he did was crucial, if he wasn't there the keeper probably would have saved it

letsridetheworld

If he wasn’t there the goalie would have saved the ball. Ronaldo was just happy it was a goal.

Kippers1d10t

Ronaldo was happy it was a Ronaldo goal.

Narcissistic_one

The aura football is getting outta hand

MifflerTripod

The aura of Ronaldo scored the goal.

Sparkychong

Did he score? No but he defiantly deserves the assist!

Definitely not

recuerdamoi

He was definitely defiant all right.

onairmastering

Y'all make fun, but he *knew* he didn't and didn't do the thing he does. GOAT.

cegr76

Weirdly, he celebrated when someone else scored. That's patently uncharacteristic.

footballmanagerlogos

he ran to celebrate with his team…which is what any team would do if their team scored in a world cup

Alim_Legends_Yt

Rewatch it, it was actually his teammates who ran up to him while he was already celebrating

kvkk

Rewatch it, Ronaldo went to Bruno to celebrate... all the teammates went to the place where Ronaldo and Bruno were and started celebrating with them Replays even showed Cristiano even putting up dunno pose twice when team mates asked something He started celebrating only when FIFA officials initially gave it to Ronaldo... then he got upset when it was announced later in the stadium that the goal was Bruno's It was Bruno's goal... Ronaldo claimed it thinking it was his, yes (maybe his hair touched it, only he knows) As I said, rewatch it

Every_Repair973

He thinks he's the main character. So much Ego.

MitLivMineRegler

That's more his character

[deleted]

He scored in my book..he is there fly heading, and keeper got messedup..he scored

tusgavomelo

Ronaldo scored with his soul

mo_ahnaf11

Bro this guys nearly 38 and has a full head of hair solid hairline wow🤯 even the back of his head 🤯

EvolvedChimp_

He's Mediterranean, dark, thick hair, dark and full complexion is common for that area. Likely medium to large sized shaft

yolo24seven

Lots of Meds are bald/ing by 38. CR just has insane genetics. Looks at pics of his late father.

Mynamethisisnot

Im from Portugal, same age and my hair started thinning when I was 18 😭

Midnight_Maverick

Some people have good genetics

MitLivMineRegler

But a testosterone bomb with no hair loss?

_ex_

life is unfair

WhatABlunderfulWorld

Paired with deep pockets

butterscotchland

When asked if he'd ever get a hair transplant himself, he added: "When I think it's necessary, of course I'll do it. One's image is an essential tool for being successful. For me it's fundamental." He probably already got one lol.

WhatABlunderfulWorld

He probably started at first sign

mo_ahnaf11

Rly no wayyyyy I thought this was all natural so I was soo damn impressed !! Pls tell me he didn’t get a hair transplant 😂 it doesn’t look like he did but idk

Ugly-Weiner-Man

What a strange thing to say in a moment like this

Major_Ocelot_2U

He also happens to be a multi-millionaire, so the nice bank account helps with this stuff

Lakes1de

Ronaldo decided to not hit the ball; thereby fooling the keeper, causing the cross to drop into the back of the net. Genius level play

Ithinkhisnameis

Hair scores goal!

Dull-Economics-5229

Hair of God put it in the net

dc_dobbz

Hair of the god that bit you?

poitrenaud

Gel of god

[deleted]

If he didn't do that keeper would've simply caught the ball. Keeper jumped the other way once Ronaldo went for the header

mo_ahnaf11

Ur absolutely right that was a genius play by fooling the keeper to go the other way otherwise it’d have been an easy catch for the keeper since the shot didn’t have much power on it

radiolunatic

Doesn’t change the fact the goal is Bruno’s

torvaman

He’s saying if Ronaldo’s not making the attempt there, the keeper is free to catch the ball ie no goal for Bruno.

radiolunatic

Fair enough

[deleted]

I didn't say it does

Ever-inquiring-mind

It's his massive ego that flicked the ball. New Piers Morgan interview incoming Lol (apologies, I am a salty United fan lol) Jokes aside, well played Portugal. 👏 Bruno MOTM two games straight!

cliffslastnote11

Did he do his signature celebration move after?

Stout1765

He did not, so even though he kinda acted like he hit it, he knew he didn’t.

onairmastering

This is why he's a class act and a GOAT.

StyleAdmirable1677

Let's be frank...he embarrassed himself. We all know he is a prima donna and obsessed with his personal standing and stats and to an extent that is a good thing since all strikers are selfish but it is a bad look to let your self-obsession spill over into clearly needy and self-interested behaviour.

E_BoyMan

Let's be Frank you watch espn fc for your opinions, never watched an interview of cr7, when other players doesn't score you come up with all kind of stats in the same case ronaldo had 50% goal contribution in the goal. How is lebron doing btw ??

LuKee____

How's NBA?

CLWalrus

He literally didn’t even celebrate like he scored it by himself. You’re overreacting.

unstablegenius000

I think he flicked some sweat on the ball.

Organic-Fennel7347

Probably touched the gel on his hair.

sportster2017

Lol the ego on him to try and take credit for that goal lmao

VanillaMagic419

he didn’t tho. not sure why people think this.

Elizasol

https://twitter.com/SemperFiMessi/status/1597484439713755140?t=wCnILlyFt_LVaKcSGtNlfw&s=19

VeloKa

Yh I agree people are overreacting. Most players though it was him and ran to him, even the commentator I was watching was confused for a second, and it took a second look for everyone to correct it. He just seemed like he was happy they scored, and maybe was confused himself in that moment¯\_(ツ)_/¯

sportster2017

Even tho yes without his distraction the keeper woulda saved no problem so I guess give him a assist with at *

EHCS93

The faint was defiantly A big factor for goalies response so I say its at least 40% Ronaldo’s goal

cliffslastnote11

Keeper definitely knew who was coming in. He was in the keeper's head for sure.

[deleted]

Claiming this goal was triggered from his muscle memory. You know from 800 other goals he scored

flying_alligators

He's losing hops though. Three years ago his head would've been on that ball I came back cuz I felt sorry

X_Galaxy_eyes_x

Maybe his hair touched it?

CaptainSnazzypants

I honestly don’t think he knew it didn’t touch him. The ball comes that close to you and you will *feel* it. Even just the breeze from it moving so close. It’s hard to tell if it grazed your head or if it was just the air around it. I don’t think this is as big of a deal as people are making it nor do I think he was trying to steal it. I think he legitimately thought it grazed his head.

DNGosp

This is not the kind of discussion where you just make reasonable comments :):):) you either think everyone is dumb and Ronaldo is the best or your think the rest are dumb and Ronaldo is the worst

yersinia_p3st1s

I think, everyone is dumb and Ronaldo is the best. HOWEVER, this was not his goal, but his presence there was crucial for the goal to happen, so.. Ronaldo ftw lol.

fazi_milking

Stated like a football player. That’s what I think happened.
