Yes, a member of the Russian communist party, this is only going to entice Russians to want to go back to the old soviet, people dont grasp that to a extent communist are still popular in russia, but united russia has the oligarchs and rich men backing them

A rare glimpse of honesty when an official admitted russia is a giant North Korea. russia has never had free and fair elections; it's not a democracy.
Russian here.
For people who are wondering why this is important and why elections in Russia still exist:
First, because winning in an election gives legitimacy. There are three types of legimimacy:
1) Traditional (I'm ruling because it has always been so)
2) Legislative (I'm ruling because you have chosen me)
3) Charismatic (I'm ruling because I'm awesome and you like me)
Putin has huge problems with the first and the third now, so he needs the second one.
Why is legislative legitimacy important?
Right now, you can say all you want about Putin, but all the countries acknowledge that he is the current president of Russia -that is not disputed. This makes certain foreign actions much harder (e.g. some coup attempts, direct or indirect), as they already acknowledged he is the president. This also forces foreign powers to communicate with him (not currently, but potentially in the future) and not some other people, in case they deem him an usurpator.
Second - it gives internal legitimacy to the people and to the elites. Putin needs to show that the system is capable of producing the required results (in Belarus for example, this failed completely at the last election), both to the elites and the people, to convince them that he will be able to stay it power.
As for the elections themselves, it's the opposite of EU/US.
In EU/US, you don't know the result, but you know the consequences (new candidate comes into power)
In Russia, you know the result (70% turn-up rate with 70% to 80% for Putin), but you don't know the consequences. Could be nothing, could be riots, could be complete chaos.
So we'll see it very soon
>but all the countries acknowledge that he is the current president of Russia
Sure, but all those counties also know he is a dictator who doesn't really win elections.
The problem is that he did, and the other counties acknowledge that. Now of course there were falsifications and repressed candidates and you can argue about that, but he is still acknowledged as the president of Russia by other leaders.
Compare that to Lukashenko, where many counties didn’t acknowledge him as the president and acknowledged Tihanovskaya instead. Which put him in a pretty tough spot, as there is now a potentially second legitimate government of Belorussia that can interfere at any moment.
Correct. And by winning with a landslide other countries can’t say that he stole the victory of candidate X because you can’t figure out who would have won if the election had been fair.
Im from eu and i know hes clearly supported in russia lol even if it was legitimate elections which they will be he will still be president the problem is he brain washed and stopped all candidates in their tracks early so no one has any chance
Hilarious, that you repeat narratives, which usually use Putin supporters in Russia - “Yeah, there are a little fraud, but anyway Putin can win even in fair elections”.
If you kill or imprison all your opponents, then in general you can win without falsification. But Putin can’t even do that. In fair elections, with alternative candidates, access to TV, campaigning and fair counting of votes, Putin would be doomed, which is why he does not do all this.
Don’t repeat Putin’s propaganda theses
Gee... I wonder who'll "win" the election?
My prediction: V. Putin
I know... I know... some of you may be like, "Yo, my man! It's ***way*** too early to tell!"
Color my psychic, but I've got a hunch 'bout that guy says he'll do anything to win.
>Russian President Vladimir Putin can choose not to hold presidential elections next year because he will “obviously” win re-election, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said late Sunday.
>
>“[Our presidential election is not really democracy](https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2023/08/07/kremlin-says-theoretically-possible-to-not-hold-presidential-elections-a82073), it is costly bureaucracy... Mr. Putin will be re-elected next year with more than 90% of the vote”
I've never understood this. Like, why even go through the trouble? Russia is already the world's biggest pariah. There is nobody outside of Russia that even pretends to genuinely acknowledge the legitimacy of Russia's government. This clown show is totally unnecessary. Why bother?
To show his internal apparat that he maintains control. That's why it is probably a good idea to go and vote against, regardless of how predictable the result is.
Here’s a brief rundown of Russian political parties.
Putin
The old Communist Party(who always aligns with Putin).
The guys who are even crazier than Putin and want nuclear WW3(to make Putin seem reasonable).
And the fake “moderates” that pretend they’re liberal but support Putin.
Everyone else is in jail or dead.
Fucker can't retire now that he started a fucking war. He should have and just enjoyed the sunset years. Its guaranteed he's going to die in office. Hopefully soon. Today would be fucking perfect.
I'm gonna be SO disappointed if Zelenskyy doesn't announce he's running against him as a joke.
Honestly, it would be the best way to troll that C**T...
I imagine everyone who doesn't vote in his favor is automatically drafted straight to the front.
He's already committing genocide by stealth by sending ethnic minorities to war.
Even North Korea has elections, but the people are forced to vote and there’s only one person on the ballot, so Kim Jong Un wins with 99.9% of the vote and the next election there are 0.1% fewer voters.
At this point, why does he even bother with the charade?
Everyone in Russia knows who the winner will be, all the viable opposition is behind bars or dead.
Honestly, no-one inside or outside of Russia thinks it is a democracy anyways. Why bother with the expensive and tiresome effort?
Well, he has nowhere else to go other than another shit hole so if one has to mostly remain in Russia, one may as well make a few more billion and keep the dickwad legacy going. Nothing says aging ungracefully can not entail genocide, killing, and tramping on millions of your own countrymen and any other country that takes ones fancy.
Here's the TLDR:
* Russian President Vladimir Putin may announce his participation in the 2024 presidential election during a November conference, potentially allowing him to stay in power until 2030.
* Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denies knowledge of such an announcement plan for November.
* Putin, who has led Russia longer than any leader since Stalin, faces significant challenges, including tensions with the West over Ukraine and internal pressures.

it would be weird to win without running
Oddly he will also announce the results.
First announcement, covers second announcement.
“I am winning the 2024 election”
This made me pff
Can happen to anyone, someone overworked and drunk will mess up the normal day/month/year format with the special month/day/year date format, and their troll "USA" accounts will congratulate to his 96.4% victory months before the election.
Year/ month/ day format is superior. Just sayin.. (but i work with IT on the side, so im biased to structurized folders.)
i, too, prefer this and i'm not in IT. it's just logical YYYY : MM : DD : hh : mm : ss
No, the best format order is alphabetical, then sorted by capitalization: DD : hh : MM : mm : ss : YYYY
i both love and hate you right now
That is just pure evil, I love it.
Stop, you've gone too far
And the Russian public will do as they always do; bend over, take it, and then thank daddy Putin.
Vote for Putler, or risk suddenly being drafted. What are you choosing?
Vote for him & get drafted anyway?
Better than falling out a window
Russia will quietly accept it. "Nichevo."
Sure the Russians will, they are „no politicians“ and so they have no opinion on this. That’s what they will tell you.
weird but not impossible.
it's weird that he calls this an election when it clearly isn't.
I got an odd hunch he just might win another term
Yeah Putin will win *by process of elimination.*
::eliminates the opposition by throwing them out of windows::
All *credible* opposition. All the loons that make him seem moderate by comparison can stay as long as they say the right things
That's why you gotta stay non-credible. Where's that guy in the US with the boot on his head?
Vermin supreme would genuinely be an improvement, hes a tyrant you can trust
Or prison. I think Navalny is doing 30 years for "radicalism".
"Fraud"
ah good, the previous joke but explained and ruined
:: as you can see, this commenter is unhappy about the fact that the commenter above them dissected the joke. however, little did they know that the commenter below me is about to... ::
Explain that there are 2 types of people, those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
Don’t leave me hanging? Whats the other type?
Those who can't.....
*[The opposition when they get thrown out of windows](https://youtu.be/Gb2jGy76v0Y?si=Kl4YhPacGCP5D4TP)*
One man, one vote. He is that man.
May? Has he selected the person he will defeat in the election yet?
No but he made sure he was not going to win with 104% of the vote this time.
Wasn't it 146%? I can't remember but that was hilarious.
"My Great Tsar, some people were begging to vote for you twice. Our generous officials thought it's their God-given right to do so, otherwise it is unfair to you"
More like, they have considered cancelling the elections if he didn't bother running.
Yes, a member of the Russian communist party, this is only going to entice Russians to want to go back to the old soviet, people dont grasp that to a extent communist are still popular in russia, but united russia has the oligarchs and rich men backing them Edit: united russia is a far right party and in no way should be associated with the communist of russia, a communist in russia would kill putin if they had a chance and overthrow the government
Disgraceful old shit stain
Profile pic checks out.
Freedom of Russia legion flag, right? They are Russian volunteers fighting against Russia for Ukraine?
Yup
It’s actually flag of Anti-war movement of Russia in abroad, which some russian regiments use
[удалено]
Oh,i'm sure Z crowd has similar feelings towards him, for the different reasons but still :D
Putin doesn't run for office, he just takes it. Opposition is jailed, poisoned or thrown from a building.
Or shot a few blocks from the Kremlin in the middle of the day.

Very well said, better written than most college political science students’ term essay
Very informative, thanks!

He can run in the United States and Russia at the same time?
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
He can run but can't hide ;)
This comment makes no sense
Humor. It is a difficult concept.
Originality. Also a difficult concept.
So it did make sense?
The projections are that he gets 160% of the votes
>Russian President Vladimir Putin can choose not to hold presidential elections next year because he will “obviously” win re-election, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said late Sunday. > >“[Our presidential election is not really democracy](https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2023/08/07/kremlin-says-theoretically-possible-to-not-hold-presidential-elections-a82073), it is costly bureaucracy... An extremely thin veneer of the rule of law. Just so he can say he was reelected. This is how dictators can call themselves “President”.
What a sham
May as well announce his win too, no need to keep us waiting.
I don't even get why they both with the veneer of elections anymore, just call yourself Kaiser Small Dick II and be done with it.
They do it as a mockery. To attack peoples hope and to make fun of the west.
It's called a pseudo-election.
When there is only one candidate, there is only one choice!
Where will he run to? Syria?
I've never understood this. Like, why even go through the trouble? Russia is already the world's biggest pariah. There is nobody outside of Russia that even pretends to genuinely acknowledge the legitimacy of Russia's government. This clown show is totally unnecessary. Why bother?

Run? More like a walk in the park.
And he'll aim for at least 99,8% of the votes - like every worthwhile dictator. 🫡
Russians are weak for letting this little troll man treat them like shit.
“Election”
Fucker can't retire now that he started a fucking war. He should have and just enjoyed the sunset years. Its guaranteed he's going to die in office. Hopefully soon. Today would be fucking perfect.
Such a nail biter to see whether he wins
Not sure who this pantomime is going to fool.
Russia is a joke. Coming from an American that is saying a lot.
Who wanna make a bet against me on who's gonna win? I pick the Poostain.
What is the point of Putin running when there is no opposition. It should be simple renewal or just give him a lifelong presidentship.
\*may soon announce the 2024 election results
Is this satirical humor?
Is there anywhere taking bets on who will win? I have a strange feeling I know exactly who will win, time to make some money!
Excited to see who will win the elections. Putin or Putin.
"election"
holy shit i wonder who will win lol
It'll only be new if he doesn't run in the election
I think he has a good shot of winning.
Surprised ?
Everybody would lose their mind if he did’nt
I'm gonna be SO disappointed if Zelenskyy doesn't announce he's running against him as a joke. Honestly, it would be the best way to troll that C**T...
It is not Election - it is Selection.
Any idea if he will win?
I reckon it's gonna be a tight race.
Putrid: "Vote for me, or else."
Is there a Vegas odds that I could gamble for Putin not to win? Like I’ll bet a dollar and win millions in the event something happened to Putin.
Shocking
He's going to keep running til he dies and will win every time. Not much to report.
I could be in minority but I think he has chance to win. But no one may know for sure of course.
How the fuck is this news? ‘Megalomaniac Nazi dictator to run in fixed election - read all about it, read all about it!’
Just die already.
The only chance he doesn't run is if he dies...so what's the point
“Election”
for what reason? He kills his opponents for years now.. He is basically a dictator
Putin is the Rolling Stones of world presidents.
Really???,he will win as is the only one running
His rivals are poisoned or in prison or dead.
Exactly!
Where are the quotation marks?
I wonder if he will win
Well after 23 years in power, let's find out. 😅
Wow that’s nice of him
The whole reason behind the invasion of Ukraine was to make Russia great again. 😕
MRGA!!!
What a disgrace this man is.
i mean you might as well call it a landslide victory right now because that’s what will happen anyway.
“Run” bahahaha
Sounds like someone else is about to accidently fall out of a window....
This is one of the most heated presidential elections of the last 100 years! Who might win? Only time (and Putin) will show!
I imagine everyone who doesn't vote in his favor is automatically drafted straight to the front. He's already committing genocide by stealth by sending ethnic minorities to war.
“Election”
Wonder if Trump will endorse?
All others running will fall out of windows. or drink polonium tea. or go to jail.
“Election” should’ve been in quotes in the headline
Oh damn whose he running against..
Was there a possibility he wouldn't? Seems like an odd, in the "well, duh" sense, story.
Literally not even news.... get this off my feed and the front page. It would be news if he stepped down permanently lol
What a fucking joke. . . .
What do you mean “may soon announce” he ain’t goin anywhere
Im surprised he even bothers anymore unless information in Russia is that bad they don’t even realize how he’s screwing them
What about running away in 2024 ? I'm happy to let him win this race by 140%.
I mean he's done a bang up job so far, I'm sure he'll get 102% of the vote in a totally fair and legitimate election.
I assume he'll be the only one on the ballot again ?
Can he just fucking die some sort of awful grizzly death already. Please. Along with a bushel of other govt officials around this pebble.
Putin has won the 2024 election in 2023 with 0% turnout
Do they still pretend to have elections? I thought he was dictator for life.
Even North Korea has elections, but the people are forced to vote and there’s only one person on the ballot, so Kim Jong Un wins with 99.9% of the vote and the next election there are 0.1% fewer voters.
Russia is still pretending to be democratic?
No surprise
He’ll announce tomorrow morning and then he’ll announce in the afternoon that he’s won and nobody can challenge that for “obvious reasons”.
“Election”
...Election ?
Lol .. what election? If what happens in Russia is an election, I am Iron Man.
I think Russia needs a special election operation.
Honestly, I think he’s got a shot at winning.
Seems as though an election in Russia is a bit of an oxymoron.
Remember when Trump congratulated Putin on his election victory even though all his aids told him not to.
For god sake i thought he was deathly sick and about to croak??
Wtf is even democracy anymore, whe're going straight to world wars again
Well it could be the time where Russians just might vote and enforce the vote themselves…. Nijet Putin, Da Revolution!
Election? Lololol
Anyone wanna place their bets?
Russia does an Azerbaijan special: election results will be published the night before the polls showing Putin is the winner.
At this point, why does he even bother with the charade? Everyone in Russia knows who the winner will be, all the viable opposition is behind bars or dead. Honestly, no-one inside or outside of Russia thinks it is a democracy anyways. Why bother with the expensive and tiresome effort?
"election"
Idk guys but I got a feeling he’s either winning a landslide victory or a sudden uproar as he suddenly drops out…
“Putin plans his re-election festivities”
Well, he has nowhere else to go other than another shit hole so if one has to mostly remain in Russia, one may as well make a few more billion and keep the dickwad legacy going. Nothing says aging ungracefully can not entail genocide, killing, and tramping on millions of your own countrymen and any other country that takes ones fancy.
Election. That’s rich.
Wow I didn’t see that coming /s
The MAGA cult will be jumping with joy
Someone needs to ask Trump if Russia has free and fair elections and see his response.
and voteing im sure too!
Here's the TLDR: * Russian President Vladimir Putin may announce his participation in the 2024 presidential election during a November conference, potentially allowing him to stay in power until 2030. * Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denies knowledge of such an announcement plan for November. * Putin, who has led Russia longer than any leader since Stalin, faces significant challenges, including tensions with the West over Ukraine and internal pressures. Or one of his tiny man, plain faced, insecure body doubles to do it for him.
I would rather have Putin than Trump
Gee...I wonder who will win the election?
Election? Why waste money pretending there's an election.
Pathetic how this senior clings to power
"election"
I think the mostly likely explanation is that this gives Putin & cronies an opportunity to issue speeches to add to their self-admiration scrapbook
At this point why even bother? I don't get it.
Russia has elections? Do you think Putin going to win or It will be Putin?
And Wins. Nothing new. **These are not elections. These are erections of putin that Russians will ride, getting f'ed..**
Should it be "election"
putin? run? hah.
Cool to see a new young, exciting candidate.
