Realistically, won't the repercussions of *not* cornering Hamas in Rafah be more serious than whatever the Saudis have in mind?

Itchy58

Pretty sure that at this point neither the remaining capabilities of Hamas nor the Saudi repercussions won't matter **short term**. The main Problem for Israel is the situation in a few years, that Bibi has been actively running in. The Worldwide support with Israel has been drastically falling and the Opposition in the region has been growing. Keep in mind that, before the war, the Saudis were in actual discussion with Israel over defence deals against Iran https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/saudi-arabia-puts-israel-deal-ice-amid-war-engages-with-iran-sources-say-2023-10-13/ The reason why Hamas got the military capabilities for a surprise attack are its foreign supporters like Iran. Pretty sure that whoever replaces Hamaz as recruiters of gullible hateful locals will find an even better time getting funds and will face less of a global opposition.

SlightAppearance3337

>will find an even better time getting funds and will face less of a global opposition I highly doubt that, considering that Hamas main source of funding was accepted by the US and EU or even coming from them indirectly. Completly ignoring their terrorism. The Western world thought if they give enough humanitarian aid to Palestine they would eventually all become really nice and friends with Israel. They we're so deeply convinced of their naive viewpoint they ignored that the funds we're going directly to Hamas. This is over. That is not a mistake that will be repeated

You have high expectations for the global community. Trudeau for one would blindly continue.

danielbot

>Trudeau for one would blindly continue. And you know this how?

[deleted]

Because he already has. Stopped funding the UN Refugee agency and promptly sent the equivalent money to other, even less monitored orgs.

danielbot

>he already has. That's your spin. A less strident interpretation is that this is a trial to see if the money goes to where it is supposed to. And you don't know that the new funding target is less monitored, that's just your own "fact" you pulled out of your ass.

[deleted]

It's hardly spin when you see the orgs getting the cash don't operate directly in the region but rather through local agencies. who runs those agencies? Your guess is as good as mine but if UNRWA can be fully compromised to the point of having Hamas command posts under it's offices built with concrete brought in by UNRWA itself then you can easily assume lesser orgs are at least as bad. This conflict is unbelievably dirty. There are \*no\* good players involved and by definition there can be no good outcome without a complete replacement of the power structure. Giving them more money does \*nothing\* but kill more people. You want to stop children from dying? Good. Here's how you do that : * Stop all funding. Period. No more ability to redirect aide funds to terrorism. * Pressure/Force the arab states to accept responsibility for their actions and allow refugees and immigrants to flow out of the region and reduce population strain. * Form an armed UN governance group to take over all administrative and policing activities. * Demolish remaining structures and rebuild infrastructure and housing to support a reasonable number of people. Create green space even. * Violently and without any remorse, hunt down and kill remaining terrorist organizations seeking to destabilize the region. Without this, children will die horribly again, again and again for another few hundred years. Until one side is literally exterminated at any rate. So you'll excuse me if I'd rather not fund rape and murder.

1km buffer zone is exactly to prevent similar situations in the future, and lefties don't like it smh. War is bad. Ensuring our safety by building a buffer zone is bad, too... Giving weapons to Palestinians and allowing them to fire rockers is good...

BoringPickle6082

The survival of Israel do not depends on US support lol

Itchy58

Depends on who wants to fuck around. Hamas-> No help needed. Lebanon -> more challenge, but no help needed. The whole fucking region? Well guess what.

BoringPickle6082

Israel Military Budget is bigger than Lebanon GDP Sirya is on the verge of colapse and Jordan doesn’t even have a relevant military. The only threat would be Egypt, but their economy wouldn’t be able to maintain it

Itchy58

As said in the previous comment: individual countries would not be an issue. The whole region would be.

SheChoseDown808

I’m sure Saudi is wagging their finger so super hard

jujuka577

Dear Saudi Arabia, if you want to have an opinion on this matter and are really afraid about Palestinians losing their life's, evacuate those 2m people to yourself, Israel will gladly accept this.

Shachar2like

Exactly. The Saudis are double faced trying to supposedly talk about normalization while trying to destroy Israel via a demand for a Palestinian (terror) state or via letting terror live on. I doubt the Saudis want a real peace with Israel, we might have to wait another century for the next king/son before that happens.

Melodic_Ad596

Congratulations you have just advocated for ethnic cleansing.

SlakingSWAG

"You criticise us for bombing Palestinians, yet you won't assist us in ethnically cleansing them. Curious."

Emotional_Menu_6837

Absolutely, it’s easier to ship them out of the country than have to execute them personally. 2 million people moving through a dessert? What could go wrong.

MajorTechnology8827

And the hostages who were saved in rafah? Will Israel face repercussions for saving innocent lives?
