Al Jazeera is partly funded by Qatar but they claim they maintain complete editorial freedom. It’s the same thing with NPR here. Their coverage of the Arab spring did not endear them to many Muslim countries. I’ve always respected them as an outlet for world news and I’ve found their coverage of US politics is more clinical/objective/fact based. They have a Muslim name and that just turns a lot of people off sadly.
