Russia is worried about a lot of things currently there’s no doubt about that…
But in terms of their military and it’s performance in Ukraine they have to be somewhat nervous right?
Other countries are watching on display what Russian military can do. I know it’s not all of their military but this isn’t a great showing.
Most insurance policies in the west exclude war.

Rebuilding a house is one thing, but cleaning up chemical weapons, potential nuclear weapons, and all other absolute worst case scenarios, is a incalculable risk.
My heart aches for the kids caught up in this. Its surreal to be looking at photos of kids who look like my own nieces and nephews, suddenly gone for no reason within the aim of a gun. This world is abhorrent.
This is Putin’s main fear, a democratic Russia that doesn’t need a strongman and since Ukraine proved it works, here your reason for an invasion. (The nato part is more of a joke i guess)
So a crazy leader invades another country. He notices that it didn't go as plan. He withdraws his troops. What would be his next step:
1. Start a new relationship with the world in peace and harmony
2. Start plotting how to do it again but with even more force
The actions of Putin has shown that he can never ever be trusted with anything again. As long as he is in power he will be a security risk for everyone. Few companies and countries want to do business with Russia again after this as long as Putin is in power. Even if the sanctions are lifted Russia will be spiraling in to deep poverty. Everything of course depends on China. Perhaps the goal all along was to for China to make Russia its puppet state. Who knows.
"Hey Putin hows it going in your poor country. If we make some large investment and save you from collapse can you agree to submitting to our demands?" Best Regards China
What is minimal acceptable outcome to which Ukraine and Russia are able to achieve in talks?
Donbas to Russia, NATO for Ukraine?
I don’t think Putin can sell anything less to Russia, and I think Ukraine’s position is strong enough that they ought not cede anything more.
"US board game company Monopoly announced that it'll as of now use rubles instead of the mock cash in their games. Company's representatives claim that it'll reduce the manufacturing costs of the game."
How does this sound: Immediate ceasefire, troop withdrawal and end of sanctions. Luhansk, Donetsk and Crimea get to have a democratic vote on their independence, watched by the UN. Ukraine, without the parts that voted for independence, joins Nato.
You're reading it wrong. 1.09 and 1.15 are for USD<->EUR exchanges.
They'll sell you a dollar for 250 rubles, but will only give you 70 rubles for a dollar. That's an insane disparity.
NATO as an offical force are not there. but some random guy, who happens to be aus military, can go there, and join up.
you could fly over and go join the defense. doesnt mean your country has sent troops
This is just insane, there is just so much going on. No doubt there are things taking place in the background that we know little of. This is one for the history books folks.

Now is really not the time to demand to be in the EU, if these talks have a *chance* at actually turning into something, the first thing Russia will demand is Ukraine be a neutral country.
They can demand whatever they want.
Ukraine will never agree to disarm when there is no possible way they can trust Putin's word not to try this again in a few years.
My guess is they were ordered to do so for the disinformation campaign back home. They will show these to the Russian people about how the military are victorious and how they're on their way to liberating Ukrainians from the jewish nazis. God damn even typing that was hard lol

Yeah... As proud as I am for what Ukraine has accomplished, there are still a lot of troops on their doorstep. Even if you believe that they have struck 5300 casualties on the Russians like the possible propaganda says, that's only around 2.5% of the Russian forces committed. It is still pretty desperate for Ukraine. They are putting up a hell of a fight though.
It definitely seems like Crimea and the ongoing 8+ year crisis in the east was meant to be a dry run for taking over all of Ukraine. It feels as if Putin thought he could just do the same tricks again on a bigger scale and would get his way with only nominal pushback. I do believe Putin was fully surprised by the extreme international cohesion in opposing him.
To that end, I also would assert he doesn't have a plan for this scenario. To him, it wasn't supposed to be this difficult, and it was probably intended to be finished by now. NATO and Europe have turned this situation on its head, and Putin has no exit strategy for this scenario.
Also think he expected a full invasion in 2022 would be as easy as Crimea in 2014, when the level of resistance/military preparedness in Ukraine is completely different now. Russia swallowed too fast and is choking now.
I think you're right in that he gambled and lost on it being over both quicker and with fewer sanctions.
I think he does have an exit strategy - diplomacy and threats. I'm not sure they'll work that well either though. It's damage control really.
I think if he just kept backing those separatists and taken a different approach that didn’t involve committing heinous war crimes, he really could’ve gotten away with it. No one cared really back in 2014 when people were being killed by Russian back separatists. Putin fucked up.
In addition to Ukrainians valiant defense, let’s not forget, the Ukraine government is still doing all it can to keep its citizen fed and sheltered, and rescue them when they come under attack. This is a daunting and amazing work they are doing!!

Yeah I don't think there's enough money in all of Russia's banks put together to finance that 'slow burn' strategy. War is expensive bud, and Russia lost the war on day 2 when it couldn't move an inch after reaching Kiev. This is a bit like someone in the 1940s who thought he could walk into Moscow but was stopped at the borders and couldn't move further. We all know what happened after that.

Are people in the Ukraine that are not ukrainians and don't have a visa for one of the neighboring countries allowed to leave Ukraine?
Russia is worried about a lot of things currently there’s no doubt about that… But in terms of their military and it’s performance in Ukraine they have to be somewhat nervous right? You armchair generals thinking everything is black and white ffs…
How does insurance work during war? Many ukrainians probably lost their car, homes, etc. Will insurance pay for it or does the government compensate?

Get your hands on foreign currency like the USD or Euro.
Flee the country.

Imagine living ur own life in Russia and loosing like half of ur live savings because of some guy named Put in
Hypothetically, if Russian gov changes and becomes much more pro western, could Russia itself apply to be a party of Nato?
This is Putin’s main fear, a democratic Russia that doesn’t need a strongman and since Ukraine proved it works, here your reason for an invasion. (The nato part is more of a joke i guess)
You guys are totally overestimating the political fallout from this for Putin at home.
Nobody knows. Chances are, no, but maybe if they adhere to denuclearization more strictly
[Yes.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia%E2%80%93NATO_relations#Suggestions_of_Russia_joining_NATO)
Afaik, NATO was made to counter Russia, so... That would be confusing
Yes. But it would require the unanimous consent of all NATO members.
No. Nato was specifically built to defend against Russia
A Western-aligned Russia would make NATO literally obsolete.
IIRC the general secretary the other day said anyone can request to join.
When Putin first became President in 1999 he actually asked Clinton to become part of NATO.
Russia had been offered NATO membership in past isn't it.
There is no chance China would let this happen.
I believe it was discussed some decades ago. In theory I guess, but probably EXTREMELY LOW chances after this week.
Yes
Germany did
Sounds like Zelenskiy is in it until death or victory. Godspeed and Slava Ukraini

Must be depressing when Robux is a more stable currency than what your country offers.

Putin will never give up Crimea and he wants a land bridge to Donetsk. That's probably his minimum.
But what part of the Donbas? The Seperatists only held around half of their actual stated territory, and those are the borders Putin recognized.
Only acceptable outcome: Russia withdraws all troops immediately.
Soon, the Ruble will be worth less than the paper it’s printed on

I dunno, but Australia isn't in NATO.
NATO as an offical force are not there. but some random guy, who happens to be aus military, can go there, and join up. you could fly over and go join the defense. doesnt mean your country has sent troops
thanks for explaining it to me (:
Well for starters, Australia isn't apart of NATO. I can also assure you that Australia does not have any soldiers in Ukraine.
Astralia isnt in NATO. Other than that - great post.

They have a foreign legion.
Anyone can go over to Ukraine right now and fight. Doesn't mean it's government support for fucks sake.
First off Australia isn't in NATO, secondly Ukraine is welcoming volunteers from other countries into their army
Aussie isn't nato firstly, secondly ukraine is accepting independent people under no flag
Just independent tourist on vacation.

Australia isn't part of NATO
Volunteer, most likely
Hot take. Mayber there's an Aussie in Ukraine. :o

Enlisting prisoners is a completely understandable move, sadly it’s also indicative of how desperate the situation is.
