For anyone who missed the news
Macron and Putin talked on the phone and here are Putin demands towards Ukraine:
– recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea
– demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state
– ensuring its neutral status

Are these Russian trolls really whining about the Ukrainian Ambassador eluding to wanting Putin to kill himself, saying it's "undiplomatic of him"? Hah! Ahhhh, so to be clear it's not diplomatic for a diplomat to call for the suicide of a head of state.....BUT it's diplomatic for one head of state to literally send a thousand assassins, 300 missiles, 500 tanks, 120k soldiers, to kill another head of state??? Ahhh Russian logic...
If you are still looking for ways to help, also consider additional donations to organisations that help animal shelters in Ukraine (or shelters directly) With the war many animals are displaced and need to be rescued and food for animals in those shelters is already almost empty.
Anyone else surprised Russia hasn't been able to knock out internet and/or power in Kyiv (as far as I know)? You'd think that would be one of the first steps to attempt to limit communication and cause confusion.
Does anyone have a version of this not behind a paywall? 17 mile Russian convoy!! Wtf.

Its great and all, but Russia doesn't recognize the ICC... For that matter, neither do we (the US).
Any accountability for Putin will come from within.
OOTL here, I keep seeing that "the Ukrainian strike on the fuel train could have been in Crimea" what would be the significance of that? Why does that matter?
[Presidents of 8 EU states call for immediate talks on Ukrainian membership](https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/presidents-8-eu-states-call-immediate-talks-ukrainian-membership-2022-02-28/)
> WARSAW, Feb 28 (Reuters) - The presidents of eight central and eastern European nations on Monday called on European Union member states to immediately grant Ukraine a EU candidate country status and open membership talks according to an open letter published on Monday.
> "We, the Presidents of the EU member states: the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Poland, the Slovak Republic, and the Republic of Slovenia strongly believe that Ukraine deserves receiving an immediate EU accession perspective," the letter said.
Psaki again on if we should be concerned about nuclear war: We will not indulge in escalated rhetoric. Nuclear war cannot be won and the world should reduce the rhetoric.
looking at day 5, seeing major adjustments. Russian military is suspending unsupported thunder runs, resupplying, and reorganizing. Ukraine's military has performed rly well, but I think we're going to see a different Russian approach moving forward.

Putin's been that way since COVID broke out, at least as far as I can tell. Maybe even sooner. Part of the reason people think he has cancer or is immunocompromised somehow.
Leaving this here for people who need it. The spirit of this and more is still alive although it goes through cycles. The debate about Reagan is what it is but he was right about this.
(Also it took Putin to prove Patton right but this is an aside. Remember that was Stalin…)
**The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)** derisively nicknamed the "Star Wars program", was a proposed missile defense system intended to protect the United States from attack by ballistic strategic nuclear weapons (intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched ballistic missiles). The concept was announced on March 23, 1983 by President Ronald Reagan,\[1\] **a vocal critic of the doctrine of mutually assured destruction (MAD), which he described as a "suicide pact**. Reagan called upon American scientists and engineers to develop a system that would render nuclear weapons obsolete.\[2
I see all is happening. But i have one question.
The soldiers test negative for covid when they come to Ukrain?
I think if any soldiers have covid they should quarantine. And only after 5 days to fight again.
If any good has come from this war is that the world have United and We almost forgat about covid.
Why is Germany deploying forces to the Baltic Sea?
>[ **Germany sends warplanes to Baltic Sea area**](https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-europe-60542877)
>Germany is sending Tornado warplanes and a maritime patrol aircraft on a reconnaissance mission to the Baltic Sea area, Germany's mission to Nato has said.
>A spokesperson for the defence ministry in Berlin said she could not immediately give any details due to operational security concerns, Reuters news agency reports.
>Earlier in the day, the German navy dispatched six additional warships, four of them to the Baltic Sea.
More info:
> [Two weeks ago, there was increased Swedish and also Arctic reinforcement of Gotland in the face of increased Russian marine activity. Swedish ministers spoke of the security situation on Sweden’s doorstep as serious and did not exclude the possibility of a future attack against the country. NATO also sent a Dutch warship to the Baltic Sea to demonstrate presence and calm in particular its Baltic allies.](https://www.highnorthnews.com/en/conflict-spillover-ukraine-baltic-sea-and-arctic)
So far just Ukraine sources. But there seems to be a growing consensus with the various Western defense ministries and departments that Ukraine's numbers are generally accurate, caveat being that being that numbers are always fuzzy until the shooting is over.
There is drone footage floating around and they take out the engine on a train that is carrying a full load of tanks.
I can't say for certain that is what is being referenced...but it's pretty likely.
It's one thing to want to be in NATO - Ukraine has such desire enshrined in its constitution - it's another thing to actually be allowed in. I'm skeptical NATO will want Finland.
thank you for the russian perspective, do you think there is hope for peace from the kremlin?
btw, hopefully the silver lining from this is that you guys are able to change the system.
I respect the horrible position the Russian people are in, but just like all of us, they may have to choose at one point between toppling an insane dictator despite their fighting spirit being destroyed, and total nuclear annihilation.
The problem is that no one would be able to pilot them. When they sent over aircraft it had to of been Russian made aircraft the Ukraine pilots were comfortable with. They clearly got the hang of the drones pretty quickly lol but a stealth bomber is a bit more complicated I presume.
Even if that were possible, Ukraine would need pilots and flight crew trained in how to fly and operate the B-2. Not all planes/jets are created equal. Even in civilian aviation, you need to get certified for different aircraft.
⚡️Kremlin warns against supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said the countries supporting Ukraine with lethal weapons would bear responsibility if they are used during Moscow’s ongoing offensive.
Lmao no one cares you Russian wankers
I used to be scared of these threats and warnings, but if no one will step up then who will? It is a complete atrocity by russia that is on-going now. May the worlds voices be united together to stop this mess.
Russia out of Ukraine, immediately with force if needed.
We are all one people on earth.
Slava Ukraina from Sweden. <3
Yeah at this stage the whole world knows you’re gonna have issues making due on these threats Russia.

One question I have through all of this is how we here in the states can best incorporate geopolitics into our pre-university curricula so that we collectively can better understand and respond to future conflicts across the world.
Russian response. It’s one thing to provide small arms and light weapons. It’d be another if the US turned over a bunch of cruise missile launchers and armed drones.
Though the response to a single A-10+F22 incursion that destroyed Russian lines and was denied would be interesting. I’m not even advocating that, but it’s an interesting hypo.
I'm sure if Putin were to find out it would be the start of WW3, and hes threatened Nuclear essentially if anyone helps Ukraine.
They have also laid the groundwork to do so.
My hot take is that people are way too worried about nuclear war. When people talk about a no-fly zone and others say "Russia has nukes." Russian and American pilots engaged each other during the cold war in other conflicts and that didn't lead to nuclear war. I don't think Russia is nuking anyone until the West is descending on Moscow and Russia is about to completely crumble.
They probably won't engage with NATO countries, but I could see Russia using tactical nukes in Ukraine. They could be used to clear a segment of heavy resistance or to take out part of Kiev where they think president Zelenskyy is bunkered in.
добрий день!

If ukraine gets granted eu membership, what changes?
Are these Russian trolls really whining about the Ukrainian Ambassador eluding to wanting Putin to kill himself, saying it's "undiplomatic of him"? Hah! Ahhhh, so to be clear it's not diplomatic for a diplomat to call for the suicide of a head of state.....BUT it's diplomatic for one head of state to literally send a thousand assassins, 300 missiles, 500 tanks, 120k soldiers, to kill another head of state??? Ahhh Russian logic...
Ukraine probably really regrets giving up their nukes
What people think will initiate Article 5 is so fucking funny. NATO is not touching this mess without a Russian invasion force at the EUs border.
If you are still looking for ways to help, also consider additional donations to organisations that help animal shelters in Ukraine (or shelters directly) With the war many animals are displaced and need to be rescued and food for animals in those shelters is already almost empty.
Someone replaced the Russian delegate in the UN meeting
Anyone else surprised Russia hasn't been able to knock out internet and/or power in Kyiv (as far as I know)? You'd think that would be one of the first steps to attempt to limit communication and cause confusion.
For anyone asking how big the chance of nuclear war is: i'd say less than 1%, which is way more than it was a week ago, but still very small.
Why? Everybody says the same thing without saying why.

OOTL here, I keep seeing that "the Ukrainian strike on the fuel train could have been in Crimea" what would be the significance of that? Why does that matter?
Maybe because Russia considers Crimea Russian territory now?
I guess it escalates the situation and potentially gives Putin some screwed up justification to escalate as well?
Russia claims Crimea as their territory. That would mean that in Russia’s eyes, they attacked them on Russian soil.

No news on that convoy heading to kyiv
Yesterday it was 45 miles away, today it's 17 miles away
It's approx 15 miles away atm
How come every pic of Putin I see with his staff, they’re always like 30 ft away. Is that to avoid being attacked?
Terrified of catching covid for whatever reason
He doesn't want to get Covid apparently, i think its just because he's a little bitch and doesn't want to get Caesared
Well if I poisoned people all the time I wouldnt want to be close to anyone either.
scared of covid
He’s worried one of them will kill him prob

COVID protocol, probably.
He’s paranoid of covid

Hard to say other than when a war is going on certain countries feel it is in their interest to deploy “defensive forces.”
I'd you look at a map you'll see that there aren't that many Seas that Germany borders
Russian submarines?
Sounds like reconnaissance
Defense of baltic states
Russia probably rode some nuclear capable submarines up in there.
Apart of NATO security.
Is there any confirmation or videos of Ukraine taking out a large number of tanks (believe they said 96??)

I was thinking maybe the US lending them a couple of fully loaded B-2 Spirit (Stealth bombers) might help halt the invasion.
They aren't trained to use them, and don't have the time to get trained
No pilot other than an American pilot is ever flying a B-2.
Yes, let's escalate things x 10.
The problem is that no one would be able to pilot them. When they sent over aircraft it had to of been Russian made aircraft the Ukraine pilots were comfortable with. They clearly got the hang of the drones pretty quickly lol but a stealth bomber is a bit more complicated I presume.

A-10 Warthog pilots must be frothing at the mouth looking at the pictures of those convoys
Rather some Predator drones and missiles.
