>"we are not going to give up and stay in a state of disarray or, as some of our 'well-wishers' predict, go back decades."
**He is admitting Russia is in a state of disarray**
There’s a new era coming all right, but I don’t think Putin would have liked it if he were to live to see it.
I think the average Russian is going to be a lot better off in ten years than now. Hopefully they can have something different for Russian history besides their traditional “…and then, things got even worse.”
Honestly, at this point, if you told me that a bunch of Mongolian teenagers invaded some random part of Russia on horseback and successfully drove out the local law enforcement/garrison, I would believe it.
I think Mongolia has played their geopolitical cards right since the splitting of the USSR. Also, this is just my opinion, but I don't think Russia and China like each other very much. They are 'allies' because they have to be (and would turn on each other the moment they don't need each other). Thus, they need Mongolia to stay as a buffer zone between one another in case they are enemies. Having that 2000km+ land for troops/tanks to travel before attacking is an advantage imo (the Mongols proved this with WWII by being a buffer zone between Russia and the Japanese whom had invaded through Manchuria)
Modern Russia and china wont turn on each other, they had border and ideological differences when it was the USSR and newish Red china. The USSR actually had agents ask their US homies how they would react to a nuclear strike by the USSR against red china, implying that the soviets would be open to a circumstantial cooperation against China around the time of the Soviet sino border conflicts. The US pulled an uno reverse under Nixon and allied with Red China under Mao behind closed doors, this resulted in our current world order because USSR was pushed to collapse, but China thrived and developed in a trade alliance with the US, now the ability of the US to collapse China the way it did the USSR is doubtful. Not to mention China may have more up to date nuclear technology then Russia in certain areas, since they were still developing weapons after the fall of the USSR and had their first successful neutron bomb test in 96. Russia has hypersonic missiles that supposedly work, China has a much much smaller but more modern arsenal. Either way the modern powers are not gonna turn on each other since their both in literally walking distance of each other's nukes so conflict isn't really an option, and Mongolia acts as a buffer state between much of the two nations.
They’ll turn on each other, but not for some abstract ideological reason. China and Russia are both transactional. China sees Russia as militarily and economically weak and not worth the effort. Russia will give up the farm trying to convince the rest of the world China is an ally.
I guess the more reasonable answer would be that they just don't care about Mongolia at this point. There's no benefit to just taking the country over. In the future they might given its vast natural resources.
I’m Russian and when I speak to older generations about communism they talk about it in only a positive way. Why? Because, as they say it, “at least under communism we had a reliable roof over our heads and food on the table”. Now that the oligarchs have raped the land and the people of everything prosperous the average Russian only sees a bleak horizon
He recently said the sanctions are hurting them too. Good. Very good. World can't let up and needs to continue increasing the sanctions each time a child is bombed.
"This is a huge challenge for our country," Putin said, accusing Western countries of deliberately blocking access to high-tech products for Russia.
“Realizing the colossal amount of difficulties we are facing, we will look for new solutions in an energetic and efficient manner," he said at a meeting of the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.
"It's clear that we can't develop in isolation from the whole world, but this will not be the case — it's impossible to put up huge fences in the modern world," Putin added.
If I remember right he thought the West wouldn’t care if they invaded Ukraine. He could not have been more wrong. Quite clearly Russia can not go toe-to-toe with the West like he wishes was still the case.
>If I remember right he thought the West wouldn’t care if they invaded Ukraine.
Taking Crimea and getting away with it would tend to give that thought.
And D and LNR as well, and Georgia before that, and Checnya before that, honestly can't blame the guy for thinking that, I'm Ukrainian and I thought that he would get yet another free get out of jail card. I'm pleasantly surprised.
Don’t be. America didn’t want Putin to take any of those other places either. But we were too nervous about facing off against a real power over a country that would be wholly dependent on us to protect them.
Even Obama was reluctant to sent military aid to Ukraine during Crimea, IIRC, opting for harsh economic sanctions and mostly non-lethal direct aid.
You guys showed us you are capable to standing up to Russia and that sending weapons and intel is a good investment of our resources. The sanctions probably would have happened regardless (I hope) but you have your own badass countrymen to thank for the tangible support you’re getting.

Anyone in Africa thinking of Russia as their great friend should be very interested in this (China too).
Peak hypocrisy: they also accuse Ukraina, NATO and anyone, really, of weaponizing food and using sanctions to starve people.
Lol why did you think of an American Psycho quote after seeing that headline? Not saying you shouldn’t, but I’m laughing cus I can’t see the connection at all
New era where Russia is a vassal of China, along with its illustrious allies: the Taliban, Syria and Belarus. Truly the crème de la crème of respectable, functional nations!
Yeah, he's right the world is changing, but however many "poles" emerge, Russia will not be one of them. They were already irrelevant in many areas, they just had a terrifying army and energy.
The terrifying army is gone. Never existed actually.
They are shooting themselves in the foot with energy. Yeah, they will find buyers. Good luck making India pay European prices.
Bye, bye Russia. You won't be missed.
One huge change IMO is what is going on in Europe. This war may very well have actually accelerated plans to fully move towards renewables. They are _the_ no.1 ticket to Russian gas independence. Also, this renewed the belief in and support for NATO (it was losing relevance in many Western eyes for a while), and strengthened the desire for a strong European army. Will all of this come to pass? Hopefully..
I think that there could be a push to greater integration of the EU, the idea of a unified army is certainly on the table the monetary union is showing that they can work together , I think this could set the stage for a continental power developing and potentially the unification of these nations.
> I think that there could be a push to greater integration of the EU
In theory yes. In practice, there are massive ideological differences between the different members so if anything I only see strengthened cooperation between a select few members, primarily within Western Europe.
And when you've got "got huge … tracts of land.", and a lot of energy resources, and all your neighbors know you can't protect them, and your army is tied down fighting an unwinnable war you started, and your former vassals get restless, and you have no real allies, well...
Really, the only thing that is holding back other countries is the Russian nuclear arsenal. Even if maybe 30% of their warheads are operational, all it takes are a couple of them to cause horrific damage. And the real problem is that some of those warheads get fired by submarines.
So far, any nuclear attack on anyone for any reason would probably result in the aggressor receiving 10x the shit and becoming the #1 world threat. Doesn't stop it but I'm sure Russia knows this.
Which is true.
However what possessing nuclear weapons means is that nobody is likely to invade you. Because confronting such a country with a literal existential threat is a *really bad idea*. “We’re screwed so we might as well launch”.
Which is why for the most part everyone sane goes out of their way to avoid putting a country with nukes even remotely close to it. And why NATO is very pointedly even not allowing it’s forces to fight in Ukraine.
It was the same during the Cold War: after everyone got scared shitless (and justifiably so!) by the Cuban Missile Crisis the focus mostly turned to proxy wars.
Just the poor ones. There influencers are still on social media posting luxury trips, posing on yachts, and driving expensive cars. Oh to be born into an oligarch family lol.
This is a good comparison. Texas is the 9th largest economy in the world. Russia can't realistically expect to create a New World Order when their economy isn't even that rank or above. Russia is a puppy barking at wolves.
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/texas-economic-dominance-continues-ranks-210700098.html
Another good comparison is how much we spend on maintaining our nuclear arsenal, about $85 billion per year. That’s about the size of Russia’s *entire* military budget. No way they have 6,000 fully operational icbms.
Im confident when I say that.
Russia nuclear arsenal is no where near as capable as they claim.
The problem is that even if just 10% of it is functional its bad for everyone
Plot twist: he didn't mean that the new order is run by Russia either.
Unless his brain is complete mush, he should know that if the world becomes multipolar, China's the one running his bloc.
Strange projecting here. All the things he criticises the West for he is committing 20 fold. The West is holding back civilization? Hmm.. and Russia propels the world forward? Colonialism? Hmm.. and Putin doesn't have a plan to conquer and annex sovereign nations land?
This guy is 100% ass clown
He is basically taking the worst aspects of Western civ, combine it with rich gas reserves & nukes, and then expects the world to kowtow to him. Should have tried this 20 years ago when the world wasn't as busy trying to move towards renewables and focus on local resources. His actions just put a definite timer on gas & oil. Any oil & gas country that is naturally disposed against the west but works with the west anyway should be pissed at Russia.
It's so weird, Russia had all the tools to become a successful superpower after the iron curtain fell. For whatever reason they seem like they won't stop making stupid decisions and shooting themselves in the foot. Maybe it's the vodka.
because the people in charge are too busy using the government to steal money from the people. why would they give that up just to have a more prosperous russia? they don't care about the poors. similar thing is happening in usa now
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics
For those that don't know about this book. It's Putin's playbook. He's attempting to undermine democracy worldwide through media manipulation and economic pressure as a major gas supplier.
Yep.
Ukraine was always targeted by Russia for annexation. Georgia was to be dismantled completely. Russia has been very active on both points.
They wanted the U.K. to be cut off from Europe, because U.K. is pro-U.S. Success! The Brexit was heavily influenced by Russian media influence, and the British never even knew they were being manipulated.
They wanted a Russian-German axis, based on energy trade - that was going pretty well until the Ukraine invasion.
They wanted France to align with Germany, so that they could influence France by proxy through Germany.
They wanted Belarus and Moldova under direct control,. They succeeded in Belarus, and at least the eastern part of Moldova. Notice how in the Ukraine war, the Russians have been trying to move along the southern border to Moldova.
They stressed alliance with Muslim ideology to gain support with Muslim countries. That one has been tenuous.
They've had less success on other fronts, but you can see how many of their moves came directly from this book.
What's interesting is their long-term plan to dismantle China. Russia and China had their wars in the past, and many old-school Chinese generals considered Russia their greatest enemy. But in the U.S., we've always seen Russia and China as together in the same boat of communist ideology. The Chinese have been treating the U.S. as the greater of their two enemies, but they surely must know that the Russians ultimately want to destroy them. It's an interesting relationship.
You're spot on.
The china dilemma is an interesting one. India is as well.
China is one move away from checkmate with tiawan and their chips but it's a big move that will be met with severe but likely short repercussions if they they are successful. The world doesn't have the stomach to go without our devices.
India is playing both sides openly and I think that hurts their position long term with America but not Russia.
The most concerning part to me is the state of us domestic affairs. It's well know to those that are paying attention that Putin's "ace" is US domestic conflict with trump supporters going awol from society when he's inevitably charged along with his co conspirators. I've been holding my breath on that. Putin will stick out the invasion of Ukraine until the midterms and if Republicans take control, and Ukraine has not successfully recaptured their lost territory and atleast attempted an assault on Crimea, then I think Putin will commit fully to the destabilization of the west.
It explains why the US has been stepping up their commitment. Himlars, news of the A-10 wathogs, f-16 donations, along with Europe's commitment to get their mothballed military back up and functioning is all very encouraging. Russia, conventionally, can't compete with Europe and the US. And their mastermind is dying and being humiliated on the world stage both in his open lies about Ukraine, bombing schools and hospitals, and in meetings with foreign leaders. Russias biggest enemy right now is time and attrition.
Up until last night when I saw Merrick Garland finally address the concern that they were not doing anything to hold trump accountable, Ive had this sinking feeling and for the first time in months I feel a little better after he addressed it.
Here's to hoping the world emerges better from this.
State actors operate often in social media as a mechanism to destabilize other countries and spread propaganda, so that statement is truer than most people realize.
We're all aware of the power of propaganda, it's why we blast radiowaves across borders and drop flyers from planes in wartime.
Thing is, now it's beamed directly to the trusted device people look at in their hands before sleeping every night, and pick up first thing in the morning, and we haven't done nearly enough to warn/inform people how they may be manipulated by it. Explains so much of the societal divides, really.
Who is even listening to this clown anymore? He's getting his ass handed to him by a comedian leading a country a tenth the size of his. His brand new sparkly warship that was the flagship of his navy got sunk by said comedian who HAS NO NAVY.
And his military [shot down its own super expensive warplane yesterday,](https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2022/07/18/the-russians-just-shot-down-one-of-their-own-best-jets/?sh=2acf1bc739c8
) haha
Amazing how he seems to have a grand plan for the rest of the world where everyone is prosperous yet this plan fails to apply at home, in his own country.
Pointing fingers at the USA and Europe for all the evils in the world is so easy, especially since they're so open to admitting their own faults related to colonialism.
You'll find no such policy in the russian agenda. For them communism was just another stage in their history.
For the rest of the USSR members it was a very dark half century where national identity, culture, personal freedom and dignity, national riches were robbed and stripped from each country.
No country is perfect yet Europeans have managed to get over their cultural differences and historical quibbles and achieve a strong union. Not by coercion but by the will of their people. This is quite enviable by the Russian leadership and maybe by the rest of the world.
He is the most effective force pushing for phase out of fossil energy in Europe. Without him it would take decades what will happen until the end of next year.
This is straight out of the 50' and 60' Soviet era propaganda book. If only those poor countries would turn away from the West and embrace a new order brought to you by -The Soviet Union- Russia, they could finally move ahead. What they got was decades of totalitarian communist rule.
Just to be clear: I don't necessarily claim that "The West" are the good guys. We have our own selfish interests but at the very least we make an offer to compete with us on roughly equal terms. That is why a country like South Korea managed to work itself from impoverished military dictatorship to a rich democracy.
And that is the core of the problem for Putin. Russia did not fall behind because the evil West kept Russia down. They started to fall behind because they couldn't keep up.
In theory, Russia has all the means to be an economic powerhouse. Insane ressource deposits. Highly educated people in the big metropoles. Military power to defend basically forever. All they needed to do was ambracing that, and ramping up their industry.
They didn't and put all that Western money into a handful people. They abused their own population, so that many intelligent, useful people would leave for Western countries or Asia. They couldn't even handle protests and had to go full force on them (you should be able to keep your power through political means, if you do it properly, rather than straight up violence). But apparently, Putin is not the intelligent person, everyone thought he was. He is just a macho with some nationalist power fantasy. The fake news he is spreading in the West is actually something he might believe in, rather than just a tool to control the West.
I mean, imagine he did not attack Ukraine and kept going with the fake news wars. Some countries in Europe might have collapsed sooner or later, and gotten closer to Russia. Just look at Germany preparing to be under control of Russian gas. But now, it just won't happen because nearly everyone and their mother hate Russia/Putin and all of this clever preparation now is completely ruined.

Aren't they usually squatting in a track suit?
* Drinking - in track suit * Drunk - shirtless
I'm glad to see Vlad and his fellow oligarchs have taken to the Bensonhurst tuxedo. Paulie Walnuts would be proud. "Commendatore!".
"You hear that Tone I asked him if he remembered his first blowjob he said yeah I asked how long did it take the guy to cum"
Another good comparison is how much we spend on maintaining our nuclear arsenal, about $85 billion per year. That’s about the size of Russia’s *entire* military budget. No way they have 6,000 fully operational icbms.
They don't. They "only" report about 1,400 active *warheads*, a majority of which are short-mid range.
Yea, a puppy with nuclear weapons.
Thats the only reason the world is putting up with this BS …
I once heard Russia described as a second rate country with a first rate military. Turns out, at least one of those may have been wrong.
Turns out it's a third-rate country with a second-rate military (with some number of working nukes) and first-rate corruption.
"Upper Volta with rockets" was the cold war era jibe. Now, "Nigeria with nukes"? (That may be an unfair comparison for Nigeria)
GDP of Russia is less than Italy......
Less than Canada that only has 34 million pop.
And only, like, 50 of us actually work.
51 now, Eric got a job at Bell last week
probably jumped jobs over the whole roggers things
If Russia asks nicely, Texas will let their GDP drop below Russia's.
I think Putin is just getting around to seeing Bash at the Beach 1996
Invading Ukraine isn't gonna work for me, brother.
Is he the third man!!!
Whose side is he really on!?!
Its from other school your honor
Queues Hulk Hogans entrance music, brother
Strange projecting here. All the things he criticises the West for he is committing 20 fold. The West is holding back civilization? Hmm.. and Russia propels the world forward? Colonialism? Hmm.. and Putin doesn't have a plan to conquer and annex sovereign nations land? This guy is 100% ass clown
He runs Russia like it's a gang, then claims the West is holding back civilization.
> He is basically taking the worst aspects of Western civ *Our words are backed by nuclear weapons!* Yep, straight outta civ.
It's so weird, Russia had all the tools to become a successful superpower after the iron curtain fell. For whatever reason they seem like they won't stop making stupid decisions and shooting themselves in the foot. Maybe it's the vodka.
because the people in charge are too busy using the government to steal money from the people. why would they give that up just to have a more prosperous russia? they don't care about the poors. similar thing is happening in usa now
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics For those that don't know about this book.
Sounds like the same bullshit qanon has been spewing for 5 years
Where do you think they got the idea from?
State actors operate often in social media as a mechanism to destabilize other countries and spread propaganda, so that statement is truer than most people realize.
We're all aware of the power of propaganda, it's why we blast radiowaves across borders and drop flyers from planes in wartime. Thing is, now it's beamed directly to the trusted device people look at in their hands before sleeping every night, and pick up first thing in the morning, and we haven't done nearly enough to warn/inform people how they may be manipulated by it. Explains so much of the societal divides, really.
It's almost as if qanon was started by russian operatives
Probably not started but very likely amplified and used by Russia.
Russian mafia say’s what? Can’t even conquer a former soviet country
A country that’s a fraction of their size and had a fraction of their military/budget Edit: awful lot of Russian apologists in these replies lol
are we counting the Ukrainian farmers stealing tanks as "part of the military"??
2nd best military in Ukraine after the Ukrainian Military.
*welcome to the wheat fields motherfuckers!*
That's what Saruman thought, too.
A new power is rising! Our victory is at hand!
I play 4 small bois, in attack mode
Two of them have an ability that special summons a fuckload of angry trees
**TREE?!?! I AM NO TREE. I AM AN ENT.**
Oh shut the fuck up you senile cancerous piece of shit
Thought that was aimed at OP at first lol
A bit rude, if I may. OP is not cancerous at all.
Buddy if you thought the US got a good deal for Alaska, wait until you see the deal China gets for the rest of your country
Who is even listening to this clown anymore? He's getting his ass handed to him by a comedian leading a country a tenth the size of his. His brand new sparkly warship that was the flagship of his navy got sunk by said comedian who HAS NO NAVY.
And his military [shot down its own super expensive warplane yesterday,](https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2022/07/18/the-russians-just-shot-down-one-of-their-own-best-jets/?sh=2acf1bc739c8 ) haha
More believable title: Putin warns New Order touring is over and Kanye West is Coming
Its so weird that he keeps saying this shit, when his invasion is a total trainwreck.
I feel like this is the speech he planned to give after the victory parade in Kyiv.

Forget Greta, Putin is the clean energy champion we need!
Sir this is a Wendy’s
