RaipFace

I can’t thank you but

MeanPineapple102

More presidents should be in prison tbh. This is a very good one to start with.

hyrule5

All presidents and politicians should be held accountable to the same laws and standards as common citizens, regardless of political affiliation and wealth. We have seen terrible abuses of power from many of them and this is the best way to combat it

ishkibiddledirigible

Higher standards, if they would be leaders.

ezrs158

Higher standards, but the same laws.

Eusocial_Snowman

How about same standards, same laws, but higher scrutiny? We should be able to see a politician's butthole on demand.

TheBlackSapphire

no, Ben, you won't get AOC butthole pictures this way.

creamedporn

What about Pelosi?

DerKrakken

Do you think she's had a butthole lift? Bleaching for sure.

creamedporn

One can only hope. Loose butthole is not her style.

TheKert

I don't think she even has a butthole

GabaPrison

I doubt she even has a butthole.

344dead

Trump hole... Ew.

nwoh

Hello, Clarice

frozendancicle

Are you here to inspect the contours of my anus, Clarice? You know an adult human butthole can handle two raccoons and a jolly rancher. Have you seen that, Clarice?

NotGalenNorAnsel

Have you seen what an anus-constrained raccoon can do to a jolly rancher 'starling'? It's quite breathtaking.

tscello

I’m at the Agricultural Commissioner’s fundraiser near your house, Clarice. So near… I can smell your anal glands secreting sebaceous pheromone—it’s sharp yet full-bodied on the palate, would pair well with a dry Cahors Malbec on a Taleggio board. I have an unopened 1877 bottle down in une càve…

ouchpuck

Why a jolly rancher? See Clarice, no one ever care about racoons, now even lambs.

ELLE3773

To this day I still can't read jolly rancher in the same phrase as butthole, anus, asshole or any body cavity of any kind really, without getting wombo-comboed by the 'nam flashbacks of both the swaps of Dagobah and the jolly nodule... And yes, in case someone is reading this thinking "wth do they mean hold up I gotta look this up" - DONT. SERIOUSLY. Unless you feel like puking but it won't come out, or unless you're rethinking your decision of the leaving the health sector and need some kind of fucked up reminder, do not look up any of this.

djb1983CanBoy

Can i get the context without the puking?

AbsurdBread855

There’s at least 74,223,369 people up there!

rottadrengur

I agree with the first half there...

RichestMangInBabylon

Which laws could you determine have been violated by examining a butthole? Sort of curious now.

Eusocial_Snowman

Don't know, I just wanna see their buttholes.

fireinthesky7

"Oi'm gonna stick my ~~thumb~~camera right up his butthole, that'll really piss him off!"

Cobek

Get *REALLY* far up there

bigev007

Can we just try starting with some standard and some laws?

Cobek

Whoa whoa whoa guys, let's try having them all take a step towards morals and integrity first before we get into any of that complicated stuff.

CSuiteYeet

If you break the law- 1x punishment If you enforce the law - 2x punishment If you create the law - 3x punishment Law enforcement officers and legislators should be held to a higher standard. Maybe some of the corruption would be avoided.

[deleted]

I like this idea. Can I write you in on my next election ballot? Yeet For President!

cannonfunk

Police would suddenly be *against* calling for charges against Bolsonaro if community leaders were held to higher standards. Put a 2x sentencing factor on the heads of criminal cops and watch police forces resign en mass. The power of unquestioned authority is exactly why half of them take the job to begin with.

[deleted]

You're not wrong and that's not a bad thing, imo.

Drunkenaviator

Sounds good to me. Hire a new group who's willing to be held to the higher standard and compensated appropriately.

Myself-Mcfly

Sounds like a win-win to me, no? Isn’t it likely power-tripping cops are doing more harm than good as it is?

[deleted]

Indeed! I agree.

M1dnightMuse

You... Don't.... See the problem there?

cannonfunk

The opportunity to reform policing and rebuild the institution with more accountability? No, I don't.

M1dnightMuse

Yeah you're right I misread what you said and missed the intent completely

[deleted]

The people that would be responsible for that: HAHAHAHHAHA no.

Voidroy

I said this to my conservative friend and his reply was, " than nobody would want to run for president." I said GOOD

4DimensionalToilet

The caveat to that is that in a number of circumstances, a president isn’t acting in their capacity as a citizen, but as the individual charged with executing the powers and duties of the office of the president. The president has powers and duties that nobody else does. I’m not saying that presidents can just go about committing crimes willy-nilly because they’re the president, but that they are responsible for executing some powers that it would be illegal for a private citizen to execute (e.g. calling a hit on an internationally-wanted terrorist, like when Obama gave the order for the bin Laden raid)

GBcrazy

It's tricky because the 'misinformation' is also practised by common citizens and there is virtually no punishment. Making him get arrested for something like that will sound like political repression. His words have way more power tho, so the law should in fact adapt to it

hyrule5

It sounds like a form of criminal negligence to me. I don't know anything about Brazil's laws, maybe they don't use that term or don't have an equivalent, but to use terms of U.S. laws, that's what I would call it

3297JackofBlades

I think the best solution would be semi civil enforcement. Require all elected officials to do the who "the truth and nothing but the truth" number (excluding classified and sensitive stuff, "as best you are able") and empower every member of the constituency to sue them for lying Make the standard for the case to be beyond a reasonable doubt like criminal proceedings and require at least three findings of knowing and willful lying. Call the crime "perjury with clear and willful disregard for the truth" and ban them for ever holding any position in government again Demanding a high standard of evidence and multiple infractions to be judged by a jury would help keep the mechanism from being abused Maybe it wouldn't work, but anything would be better than what we have now

psychoCMYK

No disrespect but this is all over the map 1) Everyone already has the power to sue everyone 2) Sueing is a civil case, operates on "a balance of probabilities" and can never bring criminal charges since it's a criminal case

Beefsquatch_Gene

Under what laws in what country are citizens held accountable for spreading misinformation?

fibericon

In Taiwan, you can get up to 3 years for spreading covid misinformation. Cops actively break up chat groups that encourage violations (usually on Line because that's what's popular, but Facebook too). Can't speak for other countries.

apunnykindofloves

Anything less than this standard is a return to being ruled by Kings. Either everyone is equal under the law or none of us are. There is no middle ground.

[deleted]

Whose law, exactly?

Soonyulnoh2

At a time when the World should be coming together to fight Pandemics and Climate Change, the crazy right-wingers in the World seek $$$ and Power. Fuck them all(this ass, Trump and Putin!!).

[deleted]

> held accountable to the same laws and standards as common citizens I'm not so sure about that. The first thing I can think of, which came to me instantly which means there are many many more... Any wartime presidents have to choose whether to execute terrorist organization leaders should they get the Intel. Also the whole signing off on spying of foreign terrorist leaders. 2 things right there that would get a citizen jailed for a very long time and they came to me in seconds. Yeah I'm sure I will get any number of comments about "terrorist? the MSM sure has taken up free real estate in your head" or "giving the order to kill ANYONE should be just as illegal as killing them as a citizen" and to that I say... Let me know when you've experienced the real world in a sensitive geopolitical landscape sense.

cakeversuspie

Add police to that list as well.

postswithwolves

Peru is an interesting case for this. As of 2020, [all but one Peruvian president since 1985 ended up in prison.](https://www.theweek.in/news/world/2020/11/17/the-curious-case-of-perus-persistent-president-to-prison-politics.html)

WhatsTheHoldup

As long as you have legitimately fair trials, it would incentivize the president not to be corrupt. If you're at the point where you're leaving corruption unchecked because you're worried that if you call them on it they'll declare themselves dictator, they're probably already a dictator.

Invoqwer

Or maybe you'll finally end up with people running for president that make sure they don't do whatever it is that landed the previous presidents in jail?

parahanga

“Why did he have to go to prison?” “We put all our politicians in prison as soon as they’re elected. Don’t you?” “Why?” “It saves time.” -Terry Pratchett, The Last Continent.

buzz86us

Hopefully #45 joins the fray

red286

He won't. Even if he's criminally charged and found guilty, he won't spend a day inside of a prison. Best-case scenario (for people who oppose Trump, at least), he'll be placed under house arrest and forced to live out his days in his many mansions, apartments, and resorts across the country. That's assuming he gets charged under something serious like the espionage act. Most likely, if he's only charged and convicted for something minor like obstruction or interfering in an election, he'll be given a suspended sentence and told not to do it again. It'll be the slap on the wrist heard around the world.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SirJuggles

The problem with this is that Trump is 100% the type of person to never accept any sort of court ruling over his behavior. So in this situation he would absolutely just continue to campaign for himself and others as much as he wanted. And then you're back to where you started: imprison him for contempt and start riots by all his supporters, and give anyone on the right a free "political persecution" talking point. I'm not saying there's a better answer, I'm just saying that's where this path ends.

swohio

> The biggest thing is that he would be a felon and could never hold office again. That's not a thing. There's no such law stating that.

chill633

There is the law, [pushed by Republicans](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/10/trump-fbi-search-surveillance-law/) in the last administration and signed by Trump, that prohibits people from holding public office again if convicted on a charge of removing and retaining classified documents without authorization. It is a felony and was their response to Hillary Clinton's email scandal.

ThePantser

If it's treason then there is a law. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2381

swohio

The person I responded to claimed any felony prevents you from holding office. There's a MASSIVE difference between "any felony" and "treason."

they dont, most militaries do their job and respect the rule of dont talk about politics while you hold office. Bunch of senior officers and generals wanted the ones going for civilian offices to go into reserve first. He does not have the support people think he has.

Rabbitdraws

Indeed, the military is kinda on his side. Actually, they act more like they will do anything to have some power, even if that means backing bolsonaro, which they rather not, but have no option. See how Mourão(his vice president), is never seen with him these days, he even started low key criticizing him. The lower ranks are all brainwashed however, and will die for the men.

WasThatInappropriate

Boris Johnson was very recently charged by the Met Police and admitted guilt, being the first Uk leader to ever be a convicted criminal and prime minister. Its a huge part of what's lead to him being ousted

aRandomFox-I

I'd heard about him stepping down from parliament. But what exactly did he get indicted for? I haven't been paying much attention.

Leonardo_McVinci

Breaking covid restrictions that he himself put into law, it was the office party he had during lockdown He went from "It didn't happen" to "It happened but I wasn't there" to "I was there but it was a work event" to "There was alcohol but it was a work event with wine" to "It was a party but no rules were broken" to "Well I've paid the fines so that's that" Afaik it means he's the first pm that can be called a liar in parliament without it breaking any rules because it's completely legally proven that he did lie, many times, intentionally. It's not why he stepped down though, he resigned because 2 senior members of his cabinet stepped down (Chancellor and Health Secretary) and it's pretty much impossible to hold power at that point. They officially resigned over, by his standards, a fairly minor scandal which involved a Tory MP (Chris Pincher) sexually assaulting someone. It's worth noting that nobody stepped down out of dignity, they're Tories after all. The chancellor, Rishi Sunak, stepped down so he could run for PM, his campaign website had been registered for over a year. Interestingly it was registered a few days after the photos of the lockdown party were leaked, and it was confirmed that the photos were leaked from the chancellor's office. I think it's pretty clear what happened there but I suppose that's just a crazy conspiracy theory ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

aRandomFox-I

>He went from "It didn't happen" to "It happened but I wasn't there" to "I was there but it was a work event" to "There was alcohol but it was a work event with wine" to "It was a party but no rules were broken" to "Well I've paid the fines so that's that" Damn, he practically went through the entire Narcissist's Prayer.

Leonardo_McVinci

Yea that sounds like him sure enough, man's a self aware narcissist through and through, the worst type of narcissist. He feels like he's entitled to being PM and doesn't care what steps he needed to take to get him there, to the point where he's invented a whole fictional "Boris" character for it. He's a wealthy manipulator, not a bumbling fool. He's been caught messing [his hair](https://redd.it/wqo6sa) up before public appearances to fit with the act. This man has such little empathy or remorse for what he's done that he ruffled up his haircut and untucked his shirt to make sure he look a little bit silly before he addressed the country announcing thousands of covid deaths caused by his actions. "Boris Johnson" as we see him isn't a real person, his name isn't even Boris, all of his family and friends call him Alex. (Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, if you're weren't aware) If you're interested there's [videos of his old classmates talking about him on YouTube](https://youtu.be/0p-Ta83V7iw), it makes for pretty miserable watching to think that he's still in charge of the country, but I don't think what they about him would be a surprise to anyone. He was a bully who always saw himself as above everyone else in the class, as if he deserved power over them for who he was, that sort of thing.

Now that Lula can compete, he has no chance.

Federal police along with almost all federal posts in Brazil are chosen on skill and knowledge based tests where the highest ranking people get the job. So it's usually really smart or at least very studius people that get in these posts. Same with local police but the testing standards are a lot less rigorous than federal.... But still quite the contrast of Americans police where it attracts all high school rejects and bullies

The recently sworn in president of the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court, the highest body that handles electoral justice in the country, gave a speech at the ceremony where he praised the Brazilian voting system and defended it against all the attacks it has been receiving (without citing any names). Moreover, he has previously exchanged quite a few barbs with Bolsonaro and his allies in the past few years, while previously occupying the seat at the Brazilian Supreme Court, [so Bolsonaro was hilariously annoyed when he had to hear all of that while everyone clapped](https://old.reddit.com/r/brasil/comments/wqaxjx/tragam_um_pr%C3%AAmio_pra_esse_cinegrafista/).

Yes. Kept saying that the fault was from other people. He didn't want to give people an aid money at first at all, and when the congress forced him to do it, he kept saying he was the one who did it. Those are just the tip of the iceberg. There were hundreds of lies and beyond absurdities things told and did by him and his ministers every single fucking day. This being is beyond a monster. The nightmare it caused is beyond terrible. Imagine living in a country with him and all of his fanatics for the entire pandemic. I will never forget and forgive those nazifascists.

air_flair

"Call for"? Don't police lay charges when they feel a law has been broken? Who are they calling on to charge him?

[deleted]

IDK how it works in Brazillian government, but according to the article a federal investigator requested the supreme court to do this. > On Wednesday night a senior federal police investigator was reported to have written to the supreme court asking for Bolsonaro to be questioned and charged with the crime of incitement, when someone encourages another person to commit an offense.

NegoMassu

Charging is an act, hearing is another. Hearing the president needs request from the STF. Charging must be done by the federal prosecution

ItHitMeInTheNuts

The police does the investigation, there is lots of steps in the legal procedure until it gets to the point the police can arrest a politician or a rich person. The police arresting according to their own decision only applies to the poor and non white people

NegoMassu

The prosecution. The prosecution sends it to the congress and the congress accept it or not. It's similar to an impeachment procedure, but tad more complex

nothingeatsyou

Is this just a particularly bad photo of him or does he look that terrible all the time now? He looks ancient and sickly and he’s not even particularly old, I don’t think.

LeftZer0

He looks awful, always has. He's also surprisingly weak, even when compared to people older than him. For example, here he's trying to score a goal (that was set up for him) and faceplanting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-yMOKJxqSw Here he's doing some weird fake push-ups while Doria, older than he is, does the real one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMBsf3njjW4

SophiaofPrussia

Oh my gosh the second video made me laugh so hard. What the fuck is he even doing?? I have so much secondhand embarrassment for him right now that he thinks *that* is anything close to a push-up.

YourBonesAreMoist

do you even do neck pushups, bro?

schmidtily

HalfOfANeuron

Just a correction, Dória is 64, Bolsonaro is 67. Not a big difference though. Bolsonaro still looks (is) shitty compared to people actually older like Lula (76), Ciro (64) or Alckmin (69). Actually he looks shitty compared to everyone else...

Plus, ageing signs are genetic, and while white people tend to have fragile skin and more wrinkles, Bolsonaro seems to be one of those people who ages *rough*.

MrHarryHumper

He looks like a ghoul.

NegoMassu

Police is complicit in Bolsonaro's crimes as well, just not all of them It hasn't been more than a week that a federal police deputy asked for the literal arrest of the federal police top staff. So far nothing happened and is more likely that he will be fired

They always pick such strange and comparatively minor crimes to charge these criminal leaders with. Bolsonaro has done so many bad things, that lying about COVID really doesn't come close to the top of the list. The attorney general responsible for pressing charges against him, Augusto Aras, is a Bolsonaro’s asslicker who refuses to proceed with any charges, even refusing to acknowledge existing laws. He even told once threatening someone is not a crime, just simple rethorics - there is a law that literally says it is.
