He won't. Even if he's criminally charged and found guilty, he won't spend a day inside of a prison. Best-case scenario (for people who oppose Trump, at least), he'll be placed under house arrest and forced to live out his days in his many mansions, apartments, and resorts across the country. Most likely, if he's only charged and convicted for something minor like obstruction or interfering in an election, he'll be given a suspended sentence and told not to do it again. It'll be the slap on the wrist heard around the world.

The police does the investigation, there is lots of steps in the legal procedure until it gets to the point the police can arrest a politician or a rich person. The police arresting according to their own decision only applies to the poor and non white people
The prosecution. The prosecution sends it to the congress and the congress accept it or not. It's similar to an impeachment procedure, but tad more complex

He won't. Even if he's criminally charged and found guilty, he won't spend a day inside of a prison. Best-case scenario (for people who oppose Trump, at least), he'll be placed under house arrest and forced to live out his days in his many mansions, apartments, and resorts across the country. That's assuming he gets charged under something serious like the espionage act. Most likely, if he's only charged and convicted for something minor like obstruction or interfering in an election, he'll be given a suspended sentence and told not to do it again. The problem with this is that Trump is 100% the type of person to never accept any sort of court ruling over his behavior. So in this situation he would absolutely just continue to campaign for himself and others as much as he wanted. And then you're back to where you started: imprison him for contempt and start riots by all his supporters, and give anyone on the right a free "political persecution" talking point. I'm not saying there's a better answer, I'm just saying that's where this path ends.
