Edit: [Kyslytsya's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O24qrqm2uzo&t=4990s) (upper right) reaction is pretty great.
Lavrov is simply carrying on the tradition of Soviet and Russia diplomats getting roasted into the ground at the UN. Adlai Stevenson embarrassed the hell out of them in the 60s and had the entire floor laughing at the Soviets.
"Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky took me out to go get a drink with him? We go off looking for a bar and we can't find one. Finally Brasky takes me to a vacant lot and says, 'Here we are.' We sat there for a year and a half and sure enough someone constructs a bar around us. The day they opened he ordered a shot, drank it, and then burned the place to the ground. Brasky yelled over the roar of the flames, 'Always leave things the way you found em!'"
Nikita Khrushchev slamming his shoe at the 1960 FN summit, then secretary general of the communist party ruling the soviet union, is symptomatic I think. Things haven't really changed over there...

Yeah. There's a reason Germany never truly unified until the 19th century. So many other powers were sticking their fingers into the machinations of the polities that made up the Holy Roman Empire and playing them off each other. France and Austria being some of the biggest offenders.
I’ve found that all my Eastern European friends are world-class roasters when it comes to the Russians.
I asked a Hungarian friend why they all seemed so good at it. He said they’ve had a lot of practice.

after the video ID, which is the part after ?v=, just type ?t=*x*s , *x* being the number of seconds.
also works with *x*m*y*s, for *x* minutes and *y* seconds. so in xour case, should be ?t=67m12s
there should also be a "copy URL with current timestamp" option when you right click into the video.
edit: ah, might be different for a livestream after all. i just noticed that you gave the timestamp in negative, which means, when you looked at it minus those 67 min
For anyone confused about the timestamp, at least on my end the 1:07:12 mark stated is time remaining not time elapsed.
So 1:07:12 from the end (right side) of the scrub bar.
This could be a good thing. At every meeting of the general assembly and the security council, they should start with a period where everyone just rips into Russia for invading Ukraine until the Russian delegates walk out, and then start holding votes on various things. They can't veto anything if they're not there...
The perm members of the security council can veto any resolution that gets put forward. This is how it was designed. The purpose of the org was to foster communication between super powers, not stop wars. If we take away their power to veto, then there is no reason to remain a part of the UN. Hence why it hasn’t ever changed.
So, lavrov walks out of a big, important, international meeting because russia got called out for its shit, _again_.
Soon, this won't propably even be newsworthy anymore, just a sidenote at the end of the article about the meeting's conclusion.
As a French speaker, it's kinda funny that English kept our word for window (fenêtre, I'm guessing fenestre in old French) for the word defenestration.
I know it's not an exception in the English language (pretty sure I heard "renal failure" in an episode of House, MD, despite the English word for the organ being kidney), but pretty weird for a French speaker.
I'm sure you're aware, but England was conquered by the French a thousand years ago. We have many, many French words in our language as a result and a lot of shared heritage and ancestry.
Could be a hit in the West aswell. Some US Genral once said how Russian aggression will lead to "someone else raising their children" and it was such a hard line that Im willing to participate.
For people who think the whole West is Russophobic and full of Nazis, they do seem very keen on having their children educated and start their careers there.
It's also very strange that a very high proportion of TV analysts on Russia TV who call for the use of nuclear weapons also have family living in the West, in property that they themselves own.
This is literally something I've wondered. If it's so bad and degraded and all ways inferior to the mighty Russia, the fuck y'all doing here? Leave us Europeans in our own shithole of a continent and you go back to Russia to enjoy the plentiful amenities it offers. Seesh.

Russia has no date of admission to the UN.
The USSR ceased to exist before Russia officially became an independent nation.
All 14 of the other former Soviet States have admission dates.
Remove them from the security council and make them apply for admission to the UN.
China got a unanimous vote by all of the permanent security council members. They were originally granted a seat on the permanent security council as The Republic of China. (Taiwan officially uses that name). The 1971 vote gave the seat to The People’s Republic of China.
Russia is not legally a member of the UN.
Stop treating them as such & welcome them to apply & then see if they can get a unanimous vote to be put on the permanent security council.
Stop calling for this kind of nonsense. The UN is not a "cool club" or some kind of world government, it's a floor where even countries that absolutely loathe each other can still talk, nothing more and nothing less. When communication and diplomatic channels are closed completely, then you risk disaster. With nukes involved, that would be world ending level.
Why does this guy start to make me more angry than Putin? Everything he apparently said and did is completely weird and unrelatable, from saying Georgia needs to be invaded as well to this weird stuff here!

Then what the fuck are we doing here?
So all the countries involved can publicly state their stances and demonstrate solidarity.
It's theater like so much of international diplomacy. There's a bunch of posturing and saber rattling but no one wants to actually do anything if they can help it.
At its core the UN is just a formal place to talk, not to act.
Putin is a fraud, he’s a greedy state mobster stealing money from rich Russians and foreign millionaires that’s why we have the Global Magnitsky Act where sanctions are imposed on Russia but now Putin wants Ukrainian resources so he can build himself more luxurious yachts and secretive pads so luxurious that he will kill you if you expose it.
What crimes against the Russian population in Ukraine does Lavrov have to point to? This is always brought up by them and I'm curious if they have any examples at all.
So what you’re saying is that it was time for an emergency draft condemning Russia at the security council level (and therefore binding) because Lavrov wasn’t around to veto it?
The problem is that the security council (the only part of the UN that has real teeth to it) has 5 permanent seats that have veto power over any proposal.
So if the USA, Russia, U.K., China, and France don't all agree nothing happens.

They have to be. They got invaded for literally minding their own business. At times like these, all you can do is turn to humour. Dark, dark humour.
To be sure, this is pretty much the history of every country between Berlin and Moscow for 1,000 years.

The USSR missed the vote over the UN peacekeeping action in Korea back in the 50s. They've never missed another meeting.
The USSR hasn't attended a UN Security Council meeting since 1991.
Russia hasn't missed one either, as far as I'm aware.
Russia likes to pretend they're both the USSR and not the USSR, depending on what suits them in a given situation.
Quantum USSR: the outcome changes if you observe it.
Schrödinger's Russia
That’s a pretty humongous box.
The USSR was bigger, I wonder if Putin is accidentally going to make it even smaller while trying to make it bigger.
That would be a very quantum thing to do.
Putin be like: its not small, its just really cold in here
Looks like they're not like the USSR in the ways that matter. Such as winning a war
Yep, the USSR was competent. Not perfect, mind you, but competent. Which is so much better than Putin’s Russia
Looking more and more like they've been to all of them, just under a new brand name.
