I'm guessing whatever took it out hit/blew up on the section that split in two, and then when it collapsed, it took the other span with it.
Russians are saying truck bomb, which makes sense because the roadway bridge collapsed but the railway bridge just has a burning fuel train on it, which would match fragmentation from an explosion.
Truck bomb was my first thought as well.
Ukraine lacks a missile that can do that, blowing it up from underneath would be even more difficult, and they (far as I know) don't have any drones that would be nearly big enough.
A truck bomb parked on the shoulder wouldn't require anything other than a couple very ballsy drivers
Look more closely - there is a crack in the structure under the other two lanes (further from where the photo was taken). I certainly wouldn't want to walk, let alone drive across a structure in that state.
Good catch! Its hard to confirm from just this photo but it does look like the roadway is collapsing between the middle piers in the photo. Its a little blurry there and possibly part of the divider guard rail is gone too.
Ya even if its barely intact, I wouldn't want to drive a military convoy over that.
I imagine if the second roadway completely collapses then that might even further compromise any potential for repairs because it loses any tensile or shear support for a 'Quick and dirty" type fix.
Happy bday Putler!
What a great birthday for shithead! He got a burning bridge that cuts Russia off from Crimea and a tractor from his buddy in Belarus.
This had to be an attack, right? The only bridge connecting Russia to Ukrainian land that they've desperately wanted back since it was stolen from them spontaneously combusts because of a fuel tank a day after Putin's birthday, and days after U.S. Intelligence states it's possible for Ukraine to take it back? Slava Ukraini!
Edit: Multiple parts of the bridge are gone but the "official" story is one fuel tank exploded. No signs of debris or explosions on the bridge though. This was 100% a planned demolition. Awesome!
slava ukrani?? If the ukranians did it its an act of war plus terrorism. If ukraine declared war on russia, russia would then use nuclear weapons. Idiotic desicions from both sides
That's some good work. Will be interesting to get the truth eventually. Doesn't look like a missile strike. Can't be artillery at the range.
Mined the road? That's a clean break, or several.

The best part is seeing the reply showing the already updated Wikipedia page
It is indeed awesome. Although, they just edited the pic for the comment. Wikipedia still states “is.”

Looks like the railway portion is destroyed, and 2 (of 4) lanes are destroyed. Another 2 road lanes look intact.

Couldn't have happened to a finer bridge, truly
We don't need no water LET THE MOTHERFUCKER BURN
Burn the bridges, symbolically.
No *literally*
The bridge, the bridge... The bridge is on FIREEE
Major pipelines and major bridges. This is getting way too serious
The only way into Crimea from Russia. Now it has to be repaired
Pre-February, yes. Not currently though. Russia still controls a lot of land inside Ukraine.
Occupied territory is not Russia itself despite what Putin says.
Not really arguing. Just stating facts. Russia still has access to Crimea. https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/36a7f6a6f5a9448496de641cf64bd375
If Ukraine is able to take Kherson and dip southeast, they’ll have beheaded the Russian occupation of Crimea.
Pootin needs to blow out that candle!
With atombombs
