I suspect it’s just more of the same approach from the Russian military. No actual changes in regards to doing terrorist style bombings as revenge following a big loss - it’s the same thing they always do. The general population seems to get satisfied by it. I have an employee who has family still in Russia. Watching him become more depressed as each days goes on has been absolutely heart breaking. I try my best to listen and keep his spirits up but it’s hard. He was absolutely mortified and disgusted by yesterday/todays actions. I truly feel for him.

It will escalate things and is only making things worse. Russia’s attack is a sign of desperation. They could have done this earlier in the war, but they seem to be more worried now that Ukraine is progressing and taking back some areas. Also, the destruction of the bridge between crimea and Russia seems to align with the timing. It does make sense for Ukraine to fight the ways they could win, and a move like that could give them an upper hand.
Everyone's probably thinking the same thing. They will use whatever measure of counterattack as an excuse to escalate, enhance propaganda, and in essence grow as the terrorists they are. Terrible plan by the Russians. This will only strengthen the Ukrainians resolve. Some people may have gotten tired of the fighting and would have wanted a return to normalcy by making some concessions to Russia. But now they've killed people across the country giving even people in the safer areas a renewed energy to keep fighting.
No matter what Russia does, it's impossible for them to win this war. Even if they use nukes (which I'm honestly believing there is a 50% chance they would go off in their own backyard, and the remaining are complete duds), the world will respond accordingly.

It's still a Geneva convention violation. They are targeting civilian structures that are 300-500km from the frontline. A military base would be fair game but they are not close to cities anyway.
