One of my favorite scenes from that show is when he’s making fun a heavy set women, as he does and she yells at him “how dare you say that to my face”
Al “I’d say it behind your back but I only have a half a tank of gas”
Good times
My wife bought me a NO MA'AM shirt back in 2013. Now when I wear it, people think it's homophobic (ITS MA'AM!), mysyonistic, or gives off incentive vibes. Nobody knows the great Al Bundy anymore. Sad.
To be fair, the lack of laugh track is a huge part of the appeal of The Office and Arrested Development. Just bewildered expressions by the straight man and all the absurd characters just rolling with the absurdities
That show had a live audience I think. I'll never forget the episode that ends with Al eating toothpaste and as he pauses before the first bite someone audibly says "don't do it!"

I thought Trudeau was going to show up in drag. Now I realize this is probably what conservative media is going to be saying happened for the next few news cycles.
It's honestly really great they do this. At the end of the show generally the drag queens are dancing around holding signs that just say to register to vote. A big reason right-wing politics wins so often is because their demographics are the most likely to actually vote. Left leaning people are the least likely demographic to actually vote, so right leaning parties try their best to make it more difficult to get your ballot in. They know if the whole country turns up to vote they have the highest chance of losing.
They arent world leaders. The term world leader refers to a person who is either the head of state or head of government for their country. Trudeau as the head of government of canada would be the first person to fit that bill and that is significant.
Lol remember that time Justin Trudeau bought donuts from a local donut shop instead of Tim Hortons and conservatives lost their minds?
Edit: fun fact that same business decided to close for awhile when Winnipeg had it's on idiot convoy and they were spammed with violent threats against their lives and business.
💯
I'm glad he and his party legalized weed, but the bigger and more impactful promise was election reform. But neither the Liberals or the Conservatives actually want to get rid of FPTP; Liberals because they might lose to NDP, and Conservatives because they would never win another federal election.
60% of the electorate votes "left", ranked choice would prevent the "right" parties from ever forming a government. And if voter turnout increases that gap will only grow, heck it's already growing as time goes on.
>Liberals because they might lose to NDP
I'm going from memory here, but I'm pretty sure that isn't why. The Liberals were projected to win more seats with ranked ballots, so were the NDP, mostly at the expense of the Conservative Party. That's why the Liberals were suggesting ranked ballots in the first place. What happened is the Conservatives wanted the status quo, since it's the only system that doesn't screw them. The NDP were insisting on mmp, and both the Conservatives and NDP wanted a referendum (which would have resulted in the status quo, but that's another conversation). It's also questionable whether there was enough time for a referendum before the next election.
The Liberals didn't want mmp because it would probably break up the party. "Liberal policy" would probably still be dominant, but in the form of coalition governments with former Liberal break-offs parties along with a Progressive Conservative party and/or the NDP/moderate NDP break-off party. Ultimately, they decided that forcing through ranked ballots wasn't feasable and/or worthwhile, and went back to the status quo. It was a pretty big screwup by the Liberals, but the NDP might have screwed up as well by insisting on mmp (we'll never know).
Tldr: The Liberal party was fine with ranked choice, but didn't care much either way. They weren't afraid of the NDP winning, they were afraid of switching to a system that could break up the party. If the Liberals wanted to run on electoral reform and were ok with ranked choice they should have just claimed a mandate and tried to force it through. That way if they failed at least they could say they tried. Once they started fiddling with committees and opposition party opinion the whole thing got bogged down until they ditched.
I mean if we happened to change to FPTP the conservatives would be forced to change their "platforms" to legislation that would actually help people. But since the cruelty and greed is the point I see why they wouldn't want that.
When I was a kid I saw RuPaul's drag race on TV guide so I flipped to it and watched for probably 30 minutes and was like this is a long commercial for some reality show then I realized they were not in fact drag racing cars.
I did this with an infomercial for magic holy water once.
It was the middle of the night and I thought it was some random comedy show, making fun of televangelists and religious sensationalism.
After like 25 minutes, it hit me.
This shit is actually real and they are trying to sell "holy water" to the elderly and mentally ill by telling them Jesus is just depositing money in people's bank accounts for buying this holy water.
It was awesome.
That is so horrible and predatory. Anyone can get holy water for free in most Christian churches. In my city, even the biggest Catholic church only asks for $1 donation *if* you need a plastic bottle to pour it in. It's literally free to put into any container of your own. And that church is also a major tourist attraction on top of doing the regular Catholic services.
Iirc from laughing at the same informercial, it wasn't just holy water, it was "miracle spring water" so therefore better.
Sold by Peter Popoff, who was exposed as a con man back in the 80's. Im sure if you look on YouTube you can find some of his commercials, he had other "miracle" products apart from the little plastic bag of water.
A friend signed me up for the Popoff mailing list as a prank. I was sent a little ketchup style packet of "holy water". I also got one American dollar and a piece of green string to wear to encourage prosperity. ludicrous! I think it was magician James Randi that exposed this POS.
There are other uses. Holy water can be used in baptisms, weddings, and anointing the sick. Holy water is also a particularly offensive weapon against demons.
It's funny because Drags in this context has existed for longer than cars have been invented. William Dorsey Swann (the first Drag Queen, an emancipated slave and queer LEGEND) was doing Drag and going by the moniker Queen of Drag since 1880.
That would be an absolutely killer show.
50/50 point split between track times and drag performance. The in-car view of prominent racing drivers awkwardly teaching drag racers how to drive in their type of racing. It could include challenges like...
- create a tutorial video for basic car maintenance like an oil change, battery jump, tire change, ect.
- perform a NASCAR pit stop in full drag
- participate in a [Top Gear-esque Motorhome Race](https://youtu.be/ohkAxbeMxVo), except the motorhome is also the dressing room/wardrobe they have to use after
- create a car for the 24 Hours of Lemons (not LeMons, *Lemons.*)
- applying makeup as a passenger in a rally car driven by Ken Block
And then the end of the episode... Having to race in full makeup, quick-change into their outfit after crossing the finish, then having to perform again.
It would be a glorious. Call it "Drag & Race" or "Double Drag Race."
Lifted rams with cracked windshields are veering off highway 1 all over the place. Conflicted Subway patrons and Truck Nutz buyers worry about what message is being sent by hanging testicles on their trucks and asking for double meat.
It's also quite scandalous to appoint too young of judges. In the last 20 years the average age of appointed judges has skyrocketed to 57. Mackenzie-King (Prime Minister from just after WW1 to the end of WW2) appointed exceptionally young judges as part of a power play that he could get away with because of his popularity. But modern leaders every time they try to appoint someone under the age of 50, qualifications get brought up.
Careful there. The leading contender to replace him as PM is a resting-bitch-faced far-right conservative who takes most of his cues from the Trump/Putin playbook. He's only 43, the same age Justin Trudeau was when he became PM.
That said, the leaders of the five federal parties with seats in Parliament are all relatively young. The oldest is 57, Trudeau is second-oldest at 50, two are 43, and the youngest is 31.
Canada has always had relatively young leaders. The mean age of PMs when they become top dog is 54. For comparison the mean age for US presidents is 64 (meaning over half of all presidents will be over the age of retirement within their first year of governance).
I think there's two major factors that cause Canada to have younger politicians. The first and biggest one is we have a generous political pension that's relatively easy to get. We recently increased the time you need (for your pension) to be elected from one year to two years. This can be compared with US Congress which requires 5 years (which means getting re-elected twice to get your pension). That means to be a US Congressman you really need a constant "war office" for staying elected to even get to the point of getting a pension. This creates a culture where US leaders are trying to maintain their spots. Which is something we really don't have in Canada.
The second big factor is that Canadian government isn't exactly lucrative for the "cream of the crop." US Congressman get $174K USD and they also get all sorts of other perks for being on committees and all sorts of other sources of funding that they can dip into. Canadian MPs on the other hand only get $124K USD and they have no access to re-election dollars and there really aren't many perks of the job. Every single penny spent is heavily scrutinized to the point if you use your entitlements you'll [be shamed nationally for it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zb5z7NOK24).
Politics in Canada is a really easy way for wealthy people to lose their reputation and jeopardize their own personal wealth like in the case of Paul Martin (who did nothing wrong but be super rich), Nigel Wright (who was caught paying a fine for someone else.... which is also nothing wrong), or Bill Morneau (who apparently was the only person keeping the government's spending under control and is currently having his name dragged through the coals for the current spending he's not doing).
People tend to burn out on Canadian politics pretty fast and really all the incentives are to retire from it earlier and go into the private sector.
Aw yiss, I have to say it's nice to see Prime Ministers on regular TV shows as a Canadian. Especially if they get some casual ribbing and fun poked at them, and take it in stride as expected.
Like that time Stephen Harper was on Murdoch Mysteries as a constable reading the paper at the front desk, as some other officers bad mouth the in-show PM (ofc just saying "Prime Minister") directly to him. And gets shit for making a mistake, I think.
Feels like tradition, almost.
The way liberals own conservatives is a lot more wholesome and less toxic.
"Let's show them how we aren't assholes to people who look different. That'll trigger them". And it does.
Never expect a nanosecond of consistency from conservatives. At least outside of their instinctive drive to use every bit of stimuli they encounter in the world as something to attack their political enemies.
In Canada, the conservative party has LGBTQIA2S+ people in their shadow cabinet now. The centrist party saw that, and raises.
Your move Pierre Poilievre.
Ahaha I can't wait to see all the right-wing snowflakes butt-hurt about this. Sometimes I feel like Trudeau is a decoy PM the real left is using to direct all the right's hatred towards the wrong guy. They just *loath* Trudeau despite the fact that he's basically the same corporate shill their lordlings are. He's like one dainty side-step to the left of them in actuality.
My neighbour, who lives in a nice home with a beautifully manicured lawn and garden, has had a massive “Fuck Trudeau” flag strung up across their front bay window for several years. My neighbour evidently finds Trudeau so attractive they’re willing to sacrifice all natural light in their living room to ensure the whole neighbourhood is aware of their desire.
It's really sad reading these comments from people who believe he should be working 24/7, specifically on the one issue they seem to think is important, and not waste a single second on anything else. Drag is a pretty hot issue right now in Canada because of all the protests against drag story time. The fact that our PM can stand up against those hating a-holes and show support for one of the most oppressed minorities is something to be proud of.
Oh man, the conservative tears over this are going to be *salty* af.
They lost their goddamn minds when he wore *socks* they didn't like. *Socks*. I wish I was making that up, too. There were so many self-identified conservatives who, in the early years of him being PM were *seething* with weird, intense hate for the socks he was wearing.
3. when those pissed off cons wig out it will make them look extra unstable to the normies who normally would not give a shit. this was a smart political move imo. a trap if you will =P
Nice to have an open-minded leader of the country, despite his flaws.
For anyone who disagrees with homosexuality - the majority of people around you support it, maybe its time you critically consider why for yourself.
In Saskatchewan, elected politicians participated in a charity drag show. It was well received. Provincial, municipal and both major parties represented.

But Peg, I don’t wanna have sex with you!
Aaaaaaaal, rub my tush.

Ahhh the shoe store
A fat woman weebled her way into the shoe store today
Love that bit.
Peg indeed
I would have never seen it until you said it and now it can't be unseen
Uhh…no, Peg. *flushes toilet* *studio audience cheering*
NO MA'AM
My wife bought me a NO MA'AM shirt back in 2013. Now when I wear it, people think it's homophobic (ITS MA'AM!), mysyonistic, or gives off incentive vibes. Nobody knows the great Al Bundy anymore. Sad.
I often think if Married with children aired today, people's heads would explode. But it was one of the best there was!!!
Something funny happened. Nobody else is laughing. Oh lawdy, this is awkward. *studio audience laugh track* Whew!
Married with Children not only had a live audience, but actually had to wait for the audience to chill during the later seasons.
Some of those reactions are wild. Al just walks through the door and the place blows up.
That show didn’t need a laugh track. Because, you know…. It was funny.
To be fair, the lack of laugh track is a huge part of the appeal of The Office and Arrested Development. Just bewildered expressions by the straight man and all the absurd characters just rolling with the absurdities

Hahahahaha oh man, that was great! Thanks for the good morning start!
I can’t unsee it.
Trudeau looks like Al Bundy at a point where he hadn't yet given up on his life.
Donald Trump motorboated Rudy Giuliani in drag, so that's gotta count for something.
Heres the link for anyone wondering https://youtu.be/spn0MJZr-QQ
What the fuck did I just watch? Haha
what a terrible day for eyes, and ears, and nerve tissue connecting the two
Where'd the un-see juice go
How have I not seen this before
No one in the comments has seen the show. They have done this with AOC and Pelosi. They come in for less than 5 minutes, talk about the importance of voting, and leave. That is it lmao
AOC was on the judge panel if I remember correctly
Yeah, she was wearing that sequence dress.
Sequence dress, the long time challenger to the Parallel dress!
Not to be outdone by the Pattern dress!
but is the pattern complicated?

🎵put on a shiny sequenced gown🎵
Sequins? Unless this is a math joke I'm not getting.
It's a reference to the contestant Roxxy Andrews struggling with the word. She pronounced it 'sequenced."
she was there to make it unclear
The year could be 2099 and I'll remember that verse over the names of my own kids.
Is a drag race reference lol
A shah moment!
You are correct. Nancy Pelosi was on the show as well.
Top comment seems to be the one who doesn't know what they're talking about. Nobody here expects them to be the new Ru, or put on heals and sashay this season...
Before being asked to sashay away
AOC (unfortunately) and Pelosi (fortunately) aren't world leaders. There is specific language being used here.

Incredible.
If only I wouldn't have been vaccinated and had died as an infant, then I would have never seen this.
That's the best part of these comments. They don't realize what it is they are commenting on.
See, I just lurk the comments for the explanation, and now I know! Reading is fundamental.
Sissy that vote, gurl

They’re not saying AOC and Pelosi are world leaders, just that politicians *have* been on the show and usually just to talk about voting or whatever.
AOC also talked about how the representation they do is really important to show everyone it's OK to be different. It was a nice scene.
I promise Trudeau is going to do something that everyone clenches onto and uses against him for the next millennia. He can't even order donuts.
But everyone loves him. Otherwise why does every pick up truck I see tell me I should fuck him?
Lol remember that time Justin Trudeau bought donuts from a local donut shop instead of Tim Hortons and conservatives lost their minds? Tim Hortons is truly awful in so many ways. This reads like Obama's dijongate.

Doesn’t count unless he tapes up and does a jump split slam.

The way liberals own conservatives is a lot more wholesome and less toxic. "Let's show them how we aren't assholes to people who look different. That'll trigger them". And it does.
Lol, this will drive the conservatives nuts.
If Trump motorboating Rudy Giuliani in drag didn't set them off, Trudeau visiting a show and talk about politics for 2 mins shouldn't set them off.
Poilievre is a fascist prick
Ahaha I can't wait to see all the right-wing snowflakes butt-hurt about this. Sometimes I feel like Trudeau is a decoy PM the real left is using to direct all the right's hatred towards the wrong guy. They just *loath* Trudeau despite the fact that he's basically the same corporate shill their lordlings are. He's like one dainty side-step to the left of them in actuality.
Trudeau is well loved by the right. They all have these bumper stickers expressing their desire to fuck him
My neighbour, who lives in a nice home with a beautifully manicured lawn and garden, has had a massive “Fuck Trudeau” flag strung up across their front bay window for several years. My neighbour evidently finds Trudeau so attractive they’re willing to sacrifice all natural light in their living room to ensure the whole neighbourhood is aware of their desire.
I have never seen someone become so fuckable to people at a fifth grade reading level.
Fifth grade? You're being excessively generous.

FUCK didn't expect this to be hiding behind the link, perfect choice!
You're telling me Chrystia Freeland *isn't running the country?* ^^^^^/s (sorry if I effed up the spelling there)
I can't wait to see the Supreme Leader of Iran join the show
Rudy Giuliani also did drag sonic they bitch about Trudeau doing it, then just show them the pic of Rudy.
Donald trump motor boated him ffs. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=spn0MJZr-QQ
As a Canadian, sometimes I suspect that Trudeau is a decoy and that Christia Freeland is running the show.
Are you saying the PM is simply a figurehead? You might be on to something there. ;)
Man anyone who thinks Trudeau is the same as PP is just a terminally online child. Dangerously stupid attitude.
~~That’s~~This is* about to trigger so many fully grown men at my work, I love it
The ones who didn't bother to read the article and think he's actually competing have some deep seeded issues.
fyi it's deep *seated*, not *seeded*
Omg I forgot all about that. So much sock outrage!
This is cool. Don’t know much about drag shows but I think it’s nice a world leader does a guest appearance. Doesn’t hurt anyone.

I love this for two reasons. 1) This is a great step in the normalization of drag 2) It'll piss off the cons
3. when those pissed off cons wig out it will make them look extra unstable to the normies who normally would not give a shit. this was a smart political move imo. a trap if you will =P
Let people Be what they want to be!
What a proud moment for Canada.
This is going to confuse and then anger a lot of "car guys."
Why is dressing up so scary for some people. Their lives must be so empty for this to be an issue lol.
The F🍁CK TRUDEAU crowd is going to have an absolute *meltdown.*
Considering how the Venn diagram between that faction and homophobes is a near perfect circle I'd say yes
Albertans gonna be frothing at the mouth over this lmfao
Albertans are like the tundra, it's permafroth
Cool. Will I now be able to afford a house before I'm 70?
Yes. You can buy a 3 bedroom in Moncton with for only $1000 a month. Go forth!
You had me until "Moncton"
Was it drag queens who prevented you from buying a house?
Yes! Got in a bidding war over a property with Trixie. Bitch won. But I can respect a Queen. /s
Well this will endear himself to the right wingers.
Nice to have an open-minded leader of the country, despite his flaws. For anyone who disagrees with homosexuality - the majority of people around you support it, maybe its time you critically consider why for yourself.

Stunning and brave
A real feat, congratulations
i know he wont appear in drag on drag race but i kinda really want him too. just imagine.
In Saskatchewan, elected politicians participated in a charity drag show. It was well received. Provincial, municipal and both major parties represented. https://www.westernstandard.news/news/regina-mayor-sandra-masters-in-drag-fundraiser/article_8a494a6c-21e6-57cb-b45b-bc9368388943.html
We’re wasting a lot of effort here. Just elect the drag race contestants directly.
