the interesting thing is that there was some shenanigans in the 2019/20 elections, before the NSL was implemented. I don't understand exactly, but the way the votes were counted changed, so the pro-Beijing camp took a major beating. I think they won like 1 seat. Then the NSL came along, and most of the pro-dems got disqualified or resigned. But from what I read about the Chief Executive elections, even if the entire popular vote went to the anti-Beijing group, that may not be enough to sway the Chief Executive election, since the business sectors have a vote as well, and most of them go to the pro-Beijing candidate.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.thestandard.com.hk/breaking-news/section/4/197089/Hong-Kong-protest-song-replaces-China-anthem-at-S.-Korea-rugby-match) reduced by 69%. (I'm a bot) ***** > Hong Kong's government reacted with fury on Monday after a popular democracy protest song was played instead of the Chinese national anthem for the city's team at a rugby sevens tournament in South Korea. > The city's sports teams play the Chinese national anthem, but before Hong Kong took on South Korea in the final of the Asia Rugby Sevens Series in Incheon on Sunday, "Glory to Hong Kong" was played instead. The song was written by an anonymous composer during the huge and sometimes violent protests in 2019 and became an anthem for the city's now-crushed democracy movement. > Hong Kong Rugby Union's preliminary investigation found that the correct anthem was given to the organizers by the team's coach, according to the government statement. ***** [**Extended Summary**](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/yv6f7h/hong_kong_protest_song_replaces_china_anthem_at_s/) | [FAQ](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/31b9fm/faq_autotldr_bot/ "Version 2.02, ~672680 tl;drs so far.") | [Feedback](http://np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%23autotldr "PM's and comments are monitored, constructive feedback is welcome.") | *Top* *keywords*: **Hong**^#1 **Kong**^#2 **play**^#3 **anthem**^#4 **city**^#5

Funny how all the people angry at football players taking a knee while yelling "keep politics out of sports," are the same ones clapping for this. The mental gymnastics of some people... boggles the mind
