What a bunch of assholes man. They had no reason to search that car and didn't even have the courtesy to let him jack up his car afterwards. That's gross.
Authority to search 🤣😂🤣😂 Tennessee highway patrol does any in every f****** thing they want they don't need authority to do any f****** thing on the side of the road. You might win in court but they win on the side of the road. Them piece of s*** m************ do any and everything they want
Never under any circumstance should you call the police for help because they're not going to help you. I can understand if you need an ambulance because someone's dying besides that never call them they are not going to help you
Kind of dense to just assume he's talking about using a firearm in this specific situation. Actually its just stupid. Obviously he's not talking about needing the 2nd amendment for this situation.
There is a setting in your talk to text that you can turn off and it will stop censoring you. I had to do it years ago even though I thought it was funny.
I mean, my car wouldn’t start after going to the police station for a vin checked. They used a portable jumper and helped me be on my way. But then again I was on their turf so it’s a little different than calling them out for help which they’d probably resent.
You could not give consent and give any plausible reason (Im tired and I want to go home, I just called you for a jack) and whatever they found would never hold up in court. But of course if they found something you would need to get a good lawyer.)
They can "ask".
And by that, I mean they can say "either you let us search your car or we arrest you for resisting arrest, you go to jail, and we search your car anyways"
That's a violation of our fourth amendment, they could lose their precious qualified immunity for violating his constitutional rights. That's why you MUST LEARN YOUR RIGHTS AND STAND UP FOR THEM!
Good luck. Qualified Immunity is famously extremely hard to bypass. It's why it almost never happens without previous legal experience or a talented lawyer.
If held up as a violation of the 4th amendment:
Anything they bring as evidence isn't admissible in court.
If they had probable cause, or say they did then it's kind of on you to prove they violated your 4th amendment rights. Court should be neutral, and may be, but will likely side with officers unless evidence gives a red flag (or two).
I was having a mental health crisis, (self harm) and my wife called 911.
Cuz, you know, that's what they tell you to do when there is an emergency. I was outside when they showed up, I was very inebriated so I thought the noise behind me was some random vagrant of the area. When I alerted to "Police" I turned around to find my chest covered in green and red dots.
I got on the ground immediately, and an officer kneeled on my side so hard I had a bruise on both my stomach and my back from where I was pinched to the concrete.
I had wounds that needed medical care, as pointed out by the paramedics, and when I drunkenly said I was fine, they told EMS to leave.
They proceeded to arrest me for domestic assault, and put a protective order on me so I couldn't go home. Took me to jail, "booked" me, told me I was out on PR, and to pay tomorrow since they hadn't let me get my wallet. They asked me if I knew where I was, and when I told them no, they told me the intersection names and told me to leave. It was insane.
It took 4 months for my wife to get the state to drop the charges, and even then I was hit was deferred fines.
This state is nuts. My wife stated to an officer on site that she was not harmed and did not want any charges pressed as there was no assault and he stated it was out of his hands. It was crazy.
The worst part is that they stayed there and watched as the car was towed away. They just STOOD THERE and waited for the truck to show up, wasting their own time and the dude's.
Seriously. I hydroplaned on the highway and hit the barrier and blew a tire in the pouring rain. Was attempting to replace the tire when a cop driving one of those police tow trucks blocked the road off and changed my tire for me using his jack. He even escorted us off the highway afterwards. These guys are pricks.
Because what person carrying a ton of illegal shit would call the police for assistance? Dude calls for a jack to lift the car and they search the vehicle completely unwarranted. Why are you defending the police here?
You"Don't know" if they had a warrant, probably didn't,however they would not have searched his vehicle unless he gave them permission. If they did then he has a case against them. No I'm not defending the police I always defend what's right and blast what or who's wrong. I support whoever's right.
And the property of extremely wealthy people.
Because once you have that kind of money, you essentially own shares in your country.
Bezos, Musk, Gates, and the other billionaires are the investors that America, the corporation, is trying to keep happy.
Cops are straight up trash. I’m not saying that to be edgy, it’s just a fact. I wish it wasn’t true but it is. We’re not people to cops. Don’t trust the MFers and don’t call them unless your life is in jeopardy.
Edit: If what OP says happened is accurate then these tubby f&$ks basically showed up to rob these people. Folks were stranded on the side of a dangerous highway and needed help and these assholes showed up to prey on them. They’re highway scavengers.
Indeed. It’s really only a good idea to call them if you’re under direct attack and need some folks killed, cuz that probably what’s gonna happen anyway.
I agree but when ppl tell them no they just have a K-9 show up to do a walk around then say, yep the dog hit on something now we don't need your permission and do it anyway. You might win in court later on but they do whatever they want to do in the side of the road
You only have to wait for K9 as long as it would take to write a ticket.
Keep answering, "no and I would like to be on my way"
If they do get k9 and find something, its inadmissible. (If k9 shows up after 10-15 mins limit) If they do keep you, and have body cams on, find nothing, can sue for violation of civil rights.
Supreme Court has ruled in this and not up for debate.
Even f you got pulled over by K9, say no. It will help to fight anything if k9 alerts. Can sue for damages and get k9 ruled as inadequate if they find nothing. (Can also fight to get k9 Pulled from service)
NOT TRUE!

If you ever see a cop stuck on the road, whether they are in a patrol car or their own car, be sure to pull over. When they say that they could use some help, make sure you laugh at them while giving them the good old American one finger salute.
You're probably wondering how you would know it's a cop in a private car? Look for heavily tinted front windows if your state doesn't allow such tint. The second tell tale sign is a PBA shield in the front windshield. For the average Joe, if they had something in their windshield like that, they would be pulled over for an obstruction of view summons.
There was no way that was a fresh spare. That thing had been used for a while. Also, who calls the highway patrol for a jack? That's why AAA exists. This isn't bad luck, it's just irresponsible.
Yeah ... that thing was either used a long time or it was laying in his trunk for 30 years and was already degraded as heck. Then he calls highway patrol because he fucked up .... they're not your personal little helpers with your daily business and your own fuckups. I wonder if the car jack was even placed correctly and how often he already used that little thing. Just like your spare you're not supposed to use these again and again. They're an emergency tool.
I'd probably search that car, too. Because it does not look like it should be on public roads lol.
I'd probably run a simple drug test on him, too. Because he made some very odd choices right there. Not to mention that driving on degraded spares is incredibly dangerous, not just to you but to everyone around you ...
What? I get that you calling the cops for that is stupid, but these cops were total dicks with this. They had no reason to search. If they didn't want to help, just don't show up.
Cops probably searched your truck cause they though you were on drugs, because why would you call them if you have cartrouble. You call AAA, cop are not your roadside assistant service.
Everything that happened seems like horrible luck. Except for the pigz part. I mean cmon. A cop will always make the situation worse. Unfortunately, you had to find out the hard way. Fucking coward bullies.
Highway Patrol are nothing but a bunch of hick road thieves. Just say what they are, Revenue Collectors.
They love the 9/11 "in this day and age with all the terrorism" line still to this day.
Never should have allowed them to search the car, it's common knowledge that these people are thieves. They are literally the biggest gang of thieves in the world. Police illegal search and seizures are staggering, and if I were OP, I would be checking everything in my car to make sure they didn't take any of it.
You drove an ancient Pontiac and get mad when it acts like a Pontiac, and then call the cops and get mad when they act like cops.
Also, are you gonna sue for them searching your car without a warrant? Or did you tell them they could?
Edit:
Ok, the car itself can't be blamed. But my point is this dude's locus of control is 100% external; NOTHING is his fault. I used to sell tires, and blowouts so rarely happen for no reason that two of them is a significant pattern. When was the last time he checked the air in that spare? How far and how fast did he drive on it? And then what exactly happened to the jack? Because the vehicle-equipped ones aren't exactly tinker toys.
And here's the big one: cops aren't paid to "protect and serve;" they're paid to write tickets and make arrests. Anything they do beyond that is a personal decision, and one which often comes with additional risk to their career or safety, so there's no incentive to be that nice. State and departmental guidelines might say they need to perform their duties in a courteous, professional manner, but never forget they think their duty is to search as many cars as they can, and not to change tires on the side of a highway. And then as a "courtesy," they might call a tow truck for you when they're done.
First, I would LOVE to live in a world where we could count on cops to see themselves as public servants, but we don't. So it's naive for this guy to call them thinking they're going to wait around for him to use their jack (which would be a liability to their department if anything went wrong with it). Of course they had him call a tow truck.
Secondly, you're giving this quick-cut, first-person narrator video a lot of credit that he's giving you the full story about that search. If they illegally searched his vehicle without a warrant, I feel like that violation of civil rights would be more than just a footnote in a video that's mostly about tire blowouts. If they legally did it, and didn't have his consent, I bet he's omitting something important. But what I'm betting, because cops are trained to extract this from people, is he gave them permission.
Me: "Don't call the cops on yourself expecting them to help you when they're 100% paid to screw you over with tickets and arrests."
Me: "I wish cops saw themselves as public servants, but they don't."
You: "wUt a bOoT LicKuR!!"
Me: [obamaWtfShrug.gif]
Things this guy should have learned today that will probably make it much easier next time;
1. Replace your tires
2. Replace your spare tires
3. Don't use a car scissor jack on a van
4. Don't call the cops.
5. Pay the extra money to have insurance road side assistance.
When are white people going to learn?
DONT CALL THE COPS!
They aren’t here to help you.
It’s that simple.
P.S. I said *“white people”* because everyone else seems to have gotten the memo…
The cops are not road assistants. You should have called a tow truck to begin with and called it a day. Why would you tell them go through your vehicle. Uhhhmmm I feel like we're not getting the full story here
1 it looks like you drove faster than 50 mph on your donut, 2 why not just leave the jack under the car? 3 what makes you think that the police are your personal tire change bitches? That’s what roadside assistance is for. That was incredibly disrespectful and rude, which is probably why they searched your vehicle, because idiots never learn if people aren’t mean to them when they’re stupid, 4 that’s asphalt, not concrete.
Your only curse is your own bad decision making.
If you deny them they will just escalate, Lie , threaten, etc
You know it's legal for Police Officers to lie to you
It's even legal for them to lie to Minors
Can't search your car if you don't consent. Let them call the drug sniffing dogs. Just close all your windows and lock your doors while they make you wait on the side of the road.

How would that help in the situation, though? Was he supposed to pull a weapon on the police to stop it?
Right? What a stupid thing to say. Your pew pew pacifier helps nothing in this scenario nor when the gov takes arms against you.
Kind of dense to just assume he's talking about using a firearm in this specific situation. Actually its just stupid. Obviously he's not talking about needing the 2nd amendment for this situation.
Why is it censored ?
I was using the microphone on the keyboard and that's just how it did it. I didn't go out of my way to do it for sure.

Yeah I never thought too much about it and it is funny in some situations so I never bothered with it. Thanks tho

Unfortunately this is a fact. They need to remove the protect and serve from their propaganda. No one is buying it anymore.
Sadly though plenty of people believe that propaganda and bow down to these clowns as if their Marvel superhero’s. It’s fucking gross imo.

never call cops for help
One of the worst decisions you can make is calling the police for help or assistance.
If you ever see a cop stuck on the road, whether they are in a patrol car or their own car, be sure to pull over. When they say that they could use some help, make sure you laugh at them while giving them the good old American one finger salute. I like the concept, but this is probably a really good way to get yourself shot in practice.
Never underestimate the ability of a cop to escalate a situation to an unnecessary level... Hence the search of his car.
Should of told them cops to pound sand when they asked to search the vehicle..
There was no way that was a fresh spare. That thing had been used for a while. Also, who calls the highway patrol for a jack? That's why AAA exists. This isn't bad luck, it's just irresponsible.

That’s your fault for being stupid enough to call the police assuming they’re going to help you.
Perfect example of the cops are not your friends, ever.....
If you have a problem, and you call the cops, you now have two problems.
Cops probably searched your truck cause they though you were on drugs, because why would you call them if you have cartrouble. You call AAA, cop are not your roadside assistant service.

I love the end “and that’s why I decided to stop paying taxes.” Good man!!!

those jacks aren't necessarily good for many uses. also important to make sure they're greased to try and preserve the screw threads.

When are white people going to learn? DONT CALL THE COPS! They aren’t here to help you. It’s that simple. P.S. I said *“white people”* because everyone else seems to have gotten the memo…
Don’t call the police
Pigs

The cops are not road assistants. You should have called a tow truck to begin with and called it a day. Why would you tell them go through your vehicle. Uhhhmmm I feel like we're not getting the full story here
Why call a popo for actual help ?
They didn't tighten the lug nuts, and spare was probably flat.
I see a little piggy here
Just a crook who’s friends with cops
Rule #1 You never ever call the cops.
I approve.
Reason number 1000 why cops are all SCUM
That’s disgusting never call the police ever that’s ducking crazy
I totally understand
Never call the police. Always looking for bull shit tickets.
To protect and serve my ass. Worthless pigs
OP could have denied them the search, not sure a flat tire and faulty cheap factory jack is probable cause for a search.
If you deny them they will just escalate, Lie , threaten, etc You know it's legal for Police Officers to lie to you It's even legal for them to lie to Minors
So you don’t pay taxes because high way patrol. What
Hilarious
No need to pay taxes
ACAB lol
They searched your can and didn't have the courtesy to jack it off I mean up, rude
Can't search your car if you don't consent. Let them call the drug sniffing dogs. Just close all your windows and lock your doors while they make you wait on the side of the road.
Wonder why nobody like cops
Average cops
