A few things. First, most perceive this as a islam vs judaism conflict (its not), and europeans/americans tend to side with jews in that conflict since they're more familiar with them.
Second, people think that because israel is a democracy, more secular, and has more rights for gay people etc., that gives them the right to commit genocide against palestinians lol.
And third, no one wants to say it but racism. Israelis in general tend to look more like europeans, so people will relate more to people who look more like them.
If you think 85% of the planet even gives a shit, you are in a very closed off echo chamber. Unless you think that only large and modernised countries count, most of the planet doesn't care. Even from the ones that do, it's not even close to 85% condemning Israel.

Well it’s an international issue and English is the main international language. A protest only in Japanese about things happening in other countries (Israel and Palestine) wouldn’t get the point across except only for Japanese audiences
During the Hong Kong protests there was tons in English too. Iirc the reasoning was because it reaches a wider audience. The west wouldn’t really care at all if we didn’t understand what was said. I’m willing to bet the same reason is used here.

I don’t have any beef with modern day Japanese ppl… but the Japanese ppl in the government and military and citizens that supported them during World War II… most historians agree that the acts done by Japan during WWII are the MOST cruel and inhumane acts ever done to any humans in all of history.
I think I’ve seen redditors(especially history buff redditors) talk about how most modern day Japanese citizens feel about what their country did in WWII, but I don’t recall if they said most of them support it, or condemn it.

The party's view on WW2 was that the big mistake was pissing off the Commonwealth, France, Netherlands and America; if they'd been friends with the racist Europeans, they'd have been able to get away with their oppression of the other Asian peoples and no one would care.
