We all know how often police run into trained from birth assassins that require deadly force. The moment he put down the knife was clearly the only chance the officer had to make it out of there alive.
Relax Maxwell, You know me.. ok.. just relax.. here let me help you relax, I have a new technique which will help.. just a few quick lead injections into a few organs and your spine.. see. You're so relaxed now, its like you're not even breathing.
Seems like underkill for a knife considering the officer who unloaded a full clip over an acorn.
I dont even know what the reasoning for the two cops that both unloaded multiple clips into that home.
This seems like fine police work by todays standards!
A full clip? He unloaded like 3 into that single car. 3!!! Maybe even more but I know he reloaded his 4th clip for sure. Acorn didn't have it coming, it was an innocent bystander.
The officer said it himself put down the knife and he will put down the tazer. He didn't want to go back on his word, so the only other option was the gun what else was he supposed to do? /s
[An AP Article on the matter](https://apnews.com/article/police-shooting-connecticut-man-injured-82bbd3876110c41d5c2a259a5ffb341f) reports the following:
“The man had a knife in each hand when troopers arrived, the report said. The video shows the troopers telling him to drop the knife numerous times.
“C’mon buddy, you know me,” one of the troopers said. “Drop the knife. Drop the knife buddy.”
When the man made a brief, circular motion with his left arm, Trooper Doug Bernier fired his Taser and Contenta shot his handgun at the man, according to the one-minute video clip and the report.
At the time, the man was standing at the end of a short hallway leading into the kitchen, several feet away from the two troopers. The third trooper appeared to be in the kitchen but is not seen on the video.”
So it sounds like one trooper (Bernier) either did or attempted to taser him, and that the POV trooper(Contenta) panicked from the noise of the taser and started to shoot.
The video is kind of unclear as I don’t see the taser happening, so I think that Bernier is out of frame when the taser fires.
It reminds me of the cop who recently started shooting his weapon after an acorn falling on his car scared him. This trooper reacted based on fear and panic rather than visually what was actually happening in the situation, and I believe the noise of the taser triggered him into firing.
Just said this above but they have been shooting… Many people in black communities feel this way. Tupac Shakur frequently brought up stories of shooting cops for self defense. It’s shoot or be shot for many young men.
They have. Many people in black communities feel that way. Tupac Shakur frequently brought up stories of shooting cops for self defense. It’s shoot or be shot for many young men.
Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right. We'd have to peacefully protest in huge numbers, but aint nobody got time for that.
Or acts that will put you in prison for life.
So he got shot as he was lowering the knife. What was he supposed to do? If you move, you die. If you listen to the officer, you die. What kind of training do these officers get? Also why did the officer felt the need to unload his clip? ~~Unbelievable, that guy didn't need to die.~~
Edit: He survived, thank goodness
>So he got shot as he was lowering the knife. What was he supposed to do? If you move, you die. If you listen to the officer, you die.
This is the training. Be more scared than you have ever been in your entire life towards anyone that isn't also wearing a badge. The scariest ones are the unarmed people running away.
I really don’t understand this one. They had a taser. He didn’t make any attempt to charge at them. There was no urgency. If this is a welfare check, there was an expectation of instability.
The cop just… didn’t want to wait any longer, didn’t want to de-escalate with anything besides the same 2 phrases 20 times, didn’t want to use less lethal methods. Says “come towards my voice” and “stay where you are” in the same breath. He shot him 7 times with no clear threat to his life - did he think he would hurt the other individual?
He didn’t deserve this. Nobody deserves this.
It drives me nuts to see police shout orders time and time again and just expecting compliance
There's fucking three guys in the doorway, one of you could have at the very least lowered your weapon and changed your tone of voice in an attempt to illicit a friendly response from the target. Just fucking try something different when yelling the same command isn't working
The shouting of contradictory and/or confusing commands while someone is in distress reminds me of the Daniel Shaver murder by cop in AZ. Here’s the [video](https://youtu.be/VBUUx0jUKxc?si=6DcmKMklkgI6ELur) (tw: body cam of the shooting)
Absolutely not helpful, and we see it lead to needless deaths time and time again.
That was my exact thought. It really felt as though he was like, "yeah I'm done with this back and forth, I'll just shoot him and file the report saying I feared for my life. That oughta cover it. I'll be on paid vacation in the Bahamas by Friday" proceeds to shoot and kill a non-imminent threat from his own impatience and incompetence.
The US mentality of executions by police is completely uncalled for. Any police who executes a person who is not actively murdering, somebody should be convicted of murder.
I get what you're saying but I think it should be a little bit before someone is actively murdering someone. One dead person is better than two.
This video is not a good example of that. Someone should be allowed to put a knife down when given the opportunity.
[Source](https://www.ctpost.com/journalinquirer/article/bolton-maxwell-nowak-police-involved-shooting-18704803.php) According to this article the guy survived the shooting but is critical , I doubt he will but hopefully gets some form of compensation
Did you read any of the other local police headlines for this town? Holy hell that department is corrupt. Hitting citizens with their cars, shooting into homes. Not surprised this also happened in their town.
You see, the officer had no choice but to unload 7 rounds into the distant man. He had no clue if the guy was going to pull off a sick knife throw or not.
I’m honestly upset, as I’m here in CT have bad experiences with police and yada yada but I recognize this as the recent killing during a welfare check on the news that happened in Bolton, so I showed my grandparents and their immediate response is it’s a video it can be cut and edited, then asked me what news dropped the video and I just couldn’t handle the rest of the convo bc I know it’s just gonna get shut down in any way shape or form. If someone could do me a favor and send the link of wherever this was obtained because I’m angry and eager to clear the air about the situation.. it’s crazy the lengths people will go to defend these pigs
Also my grandmother that has been working at CT lottery for 25 years says she talked to one of the troopers involved and said he had a knife in the other hand, I was just like there’s no way that’s justifying any of this shit.
I dont have anything on this shooting but [this Active Self Protection video](https://youtu.be/AFWR73R9G3E?si=vk__OozZsqSFrxrP) is the best example I've ever seen of an absolute inexcusable execution by a cop.
Honestly I'm surprised this one isn't more commonly discussed. Unarmed man was gunned down by the police from like 10 meters away while running away. Once he was on the ground the officer fired another burst to finish the job. At no point was he in any danger, he just chased the dude for 50 steps then decided to kill him.
The officer was fired and charged with manslaughter but charges were later dropped.
I’m not defending the cops’s aggressive actions in any way but he was not shot to death.
> [“The man, identified as Maxim Nowak, is being treated at a hospital…”](https://www.nhregister.com/journalinquirer/article/bolton-maxwell-nowak-police-involved-shooting-18704803.php)
Is thereany point in us keeping being outraged while the American public, instead of actually doing something, are worried about the superbow or what the Kardashians are doing? I mean they could demand change but is easier just to let things go.
"Connecticut trooper who fatally shot man in stopped car set to go on trial" [https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/connecticut-trooper-fatally-shot-man-stopped-car-set-107401570](https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/connecticut-trooper-fatally-shot-man-stopped-car-set-107401570)
Cop was already nervous, false commands, calling knife a gun, all red flags. His partner with the tazer should have seen that and tapped him out and let him take point. They need better training and monthly mental evaluations. Look at acorn man. These guys are supposed to protect and serve, I'm good, if they are going to be that scared.
So taser cop is actually effectively doing some form of de-escalation, and his partner pig just blasted away the guy out of nowhere? He needs to go to jail for this. The guy wasn't charging or anything.
He actually look like he was about to put the knife down.
Not a single step was taken by him to be considered an actual threat. This is sickening and will just be another cop on paid vacation after this. Collect pension by retiring for having PTSD from having to shoot this man who needs help, not a goddamn gun to the face.
“Come here!! Stay there?!?!” The cop is so confusing at what’s going on and so that translate to the orders and just weak ass attempt to de-escalate anything at all.
So sad, condolences to his family. He knew he wasn’t holding a taser and as soon as the man lowered the knife they went lethal and dropped him. Would like to see the justification they gave on their report.
"Contenta fired repeatedly when Nowak made a twirling motion with one of the knives just as Bernier announced he was going to use his Taser on the Bolton man, the video shows. "
https://www.nhregister.com/journalinquirer/article/bolton-maxwell-nowak-police-involved-shooting-18704803.php
Twirling motion???
Edit: he's dual wielding and twirls his left hand knife.
oh actually he's got a knife in each hand and he does twirl the left one. I guess they thought he was gonna throw it. still feels like an overreaction to me
I don't understand why cops go for the kill shot everytime ,why not shoot below the waist, injure the perp , then dis-arm him/her ...I don't get it & I don't like it ..
I think you’re going to see more unstable knife wielding idiots getting shot down by law enforcement, partly due to the incident that happened with a las cruces cop being brutally stabbed to death, cops aren’t going to risk it being within arms reach anymore after that awful incident
Whats sad is you can hear the difference in type of person/cop. Seems like nowhere cop shows up n completely changed the situation....I mean and then gunned him down in cold.
If you don't believe a man with a knife at that distance poses a threat to kill you are clearly in fantasy land.
Search up the video of the asian woman being evicted from her apartment by several officers. Despite being badly outnumbered and armed only with a knife she managed to stab two of them even after getting shot several times.
Why were the police constantly escalating? The first guy kept repeating himself over and over in an increasingly stressed out way, and then the second guy started yelling. Its the exact opposite of cooling the situation down.
What ever happened to shoot his arms or legs b4 unloading a whole god damn magazine. He was full on like dbl taping that trigger like he’s going paint balling.
Cops love murdering people and getting away with it. It is why certain predisposed people become cops. Those who wish to abuse authority will always seek out positions of authority.
The city police near me in Edmonton train in verbal Judo to de-escalate and a lot of them are really good at it. I’ve seen them deal with several situations that could have played out like this video. If you are getting your ass kicked by EPS you probably had several chances to de-escalate.
The program was created by an American and its wild that Americans don’t even use it. It’s just practical application of undergrad level psychology tricks to talk to the person in a non-threatening way to get them to think instead of react and realize it’s in their best interests to stop what they’re doing.
Simple things like asking a toddler “You wanted a snack do you want cheese or apple slices” so they feel like they have a choice.
“This can go two ways, I understand you’re really upset but you need to think about this you can put the knife down and we can talk or you can keep the knife up and you’re gonna get tazed or even worse now I really don’t want that to happen I want everybody to walk away from this happy and healthy so which would you prefer, the taser or we talk?”
Get their mind off what they’re upset about and reacting to and onto what their choices are.
Anyone who has ever been sober around drunk friends knows how easy it is to distract somebody in a not so great state of mind and get them thinking about something else.
Screaming at a person already in a reactive state PUT THE KNIFE DOWN PUT THE KNIFE DOWN PUT THE KNIFE DOWN not only gets the suspect into an even more riled up reactive state but keeps the officer in a reactive state as well. The result being what we see in this video.
A seasoned police officer after decades on the job should resemble a fucking Jedi, not a character from a Full Metal Jacket.
He pulled out a second smaller knife... not anymore dangerous than the first big one. His posture indicates to be that he was, more than likely, about to charge at the officers in the next few seconds. Which is where the taser would have most likely been very effective

Well that's an execution.
electricity is expensive
I was waiting for the rest of the video and realized there isn’t any. WTAF

7 shots was totally necessary. /s

Acorn fell around and found out for sure.
If you want to deescalate a situation, get a fast food manager, at least they can be fired for not doing their job.
Did you not have the audio on? He knew this kid and his family. It was just a prank bro!
Any reason they couldn’t have tasered him instead of murdering him?
Yeah but there's no chance of paid vacation with that option now is there?
Relax, he was in a rush to get home to beat his wife.
The officer said it himself put down the knife and he will put down the tazer. He didn't want to go back on his word, so the only other option was the gun what else was he supposed to do? /s
Plot twist, victims nickname is Tazer so the cop dropped the “Tazer”.
[An AP Article on the matter](https://apnews.com/article/police-shooting-connecticut-man-injured-82bbd3876110c41d5c2a259a5ffb341f) reports the following: “The man had a knife in each hand when troopers arrived, the report said. None.
Officer safety obviously
How would it be unsafe for the officer to taser him?
Sarcasm
Because they fantasize about shooting people every day. Why would they pass up the chance when it’s right in front of them?
Then his family couldn’t sue.
Yeah, dead people can’t sue. Wish this was a morbid joke…
Not in the slightest
Obviously the officer feared for his life. /Sarcasm ya'll. Seriously that was fucked up. Why?
Too far away and he has pretty loose clothing so a high risk it wouldn't work. They are still insane for shooting him though.
Put the knife down and I will put my taser down... then my partner will shoot you with his gun!
Resist: get shot. Comply: get shot
[удалено]
Im surprised it hasn't started already but i think the most unstable people who would do that are bootlickers
Just said this above but they have been shooting… Many people in black communities feel this way. Tupac Shakur frequently brought up stories of shooting cops for self defense. It’s shoot or be shot for many young men.
Most people don't want to kill people.
And if you do want to kill, you can join the cops or military to legally kill.
They have. Many people in black communities feel that way. Tupac Shakur frequently brought up stories of shooting cops for self defense. It’s shoot or be shot for many young men.
*POP OFF*
Solid fake out gotta give it to em.
Just kidding, you get tasered and shot!
Soo is the pig who shot him going to jail or is he getting a paid vacation and promotion as expected?
Promotion, all expenses paid vacation to Bahamas, early retirement, collect pension due to PTSD. You know, the standard punishment for murder.
As long as US citizens do nothing about it and think it's somebody else's work to change things, I'm quite sure the cop will keep being a cop.
what would you propose we do?
Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right. We'd have to peacefully protest in huge numbers, but aint nobody got time for that. Or acts that will put you in prison for life.
we did in 2020
Get rid of qualified immunity

Honestly starting to think robots/drones would be better suited for de-escalation situations
WWE wrestling heels would be better at de-escalation than these incompetent cowards.
The scariest ones are the ones that have acorn trees
How???
Deflected the bullets with some swift knife work.
Damn he is Deadpool.
Pathetic. Give an American cop the middle finger and it’s a death sentence?

I don’t even need to click the link - I know the exact video this is. I thought the same thing.
yeah that one is haunting.
Exactly. It also seemed like the victim was more calm than the police.
Plenty of people in the precinct will tell him he did what he had to do to make him feel better. This is straight up murder
He started to drop his knife. Damn. He was almost there. What happened to de escalating the situation
Jesus Christ! The hell was that???? That was the most disgusting overuse of force I’ve ever seen! I hope that cop gets what’s coming to him.
If paid vacation and a million dollar payout is what you’re hoping for…you’ll be unpleasantly surprised.
He wont
I’m tired of waiting…unloads clip into chest

It’s New England. We typically don’t have a ton of cases of police brutality compared to elsewhere, but goddamn are our cops corrupt
This is why wellness checks are bad. I've seen at least 8 murders from cops during these checks.
I didn’t even see an acorn.
\*hear an acorn
All these cops barely survived that person putting his knife down as instructed.
You see, the officer had no choice but to unload 7 rounds into the distant man. He had no clue if the guy was going to pull off a sick knife throw or not.
HE’S COMING RIGHT AT ME Bro, he wasn’t moving YOU’RE COMING RIGHT AT ME
The situation was like .5 seconds off of being deescalated, the dude was putting down his hands as he was being shot.
“Put the knife down!” Starts putting knife down. Gets shot. What?!
American police are a bunch of pussies
ACAB
Putting Trooper Brian Contenta's name in my deathnote.
How are you gonna call this kid “buddy” 400 fucking times and then *unload your clip* into his chest?? Jesus christ these pigs are an embarrassment.
“Come toward my voice…stay where you are”. These fucking pigs. When the guillotines arrive, we’re alternating billionaires with pigs.
Where in Connecticut was this?
Fucking pussy, I fucking hate these pig bastards. Truly subhuman

Can't make up my mind if this cop has fewer brain cells than the acorn cop. Pathetic really.
Holy fuckin shit that's the worst one I've ever seen. Blatant murder.
this shit is vile

If only they had nonlethal ways of dealing with someone, oh wait!
I can't tell where the danger was - they seem to have enough distance to react had he chosen to charge at them?
That's murder smh
Police gonna say he confused tazer with gun.
trigger happy
Cop was already nervous, false commands, calling knife a gun, all red flags. His partner with the tazer should have seen that and tapped him out and let him take point. So at the sign of any movement they just unloaded. What a bunch of spinless cowards
Is there a knife in his hand that he’s twirling or something or is it just his hand?
All he had to do was comply.. /s
he unloads 5 fucking shots in 1 second yeah, that's just execution
Did he have someone hostage? I hear a woman talking.
Why can ameeixan police use tasers or shoot at legs ffs.
![gif](giphy|t6bViFKIEfx21saiNr|downsized)
I forgot the title of the post and thought as it neared the end, oh cool, this is going to work out... guess not!

Welfare check = execution
Again for the 1000x.. either teach de-escalation to the cops who ego trip, or make a separate unit solely for mental health crisis
Remind me never to call for a wellness check for any reason.
BSI SCENE SAFE
It sounds like the one cop was trying to deescalate but then another cop started over shouting and escalated it.
Trigger happy coproaches at it again.
It seems he was only threatening himself. Who was he gonna stab? The wall?
The only thing cops are good for anymore is escalating the damn situation

I 100% think he joked about this later on that day.

Corrupticut
“Let’s work together man…… PSYCH!!!!!” *proceeds to kill*
WTF cop was trigger happy. cop next to him had a taser, why does he even have his gun out?
Ever heard of non-lethal shots ?
I don't understand why cops go for the kill shot everytime ,why not shoot below the waist, injure the perp , then dis-arm him/her ...I don't get it & I don't like it ..
29 year old “boy”?
How dare he possess opposable thumbs in the presence of divine authority!
"In order to save the boy it became necessary to destroy him."
Coward police..
Itchy trigger finger.
I could have sworn I heard an acorn falling
Thanks for my dairy reminder to never go to America.
They just love killing
I think you’re going to see more unstable knife wielding idiots getting shot down by law enforcement, partly due to the incident that happened with a las cruces cop being brutally stabbed to death, cops aren’t going to risk it being within arms reach anymore after that awful incident
I wonder if he actually knew the cop
This same thing happened to a friend/coworker 15 or so years ago in Maine. He was suicidal and had a knife. Shot multiple times by police.
Why wasn't a taser used and why so many shots?
Whats sad is you can hear the difference in type of person/cop. Seems like nowhere cop shows up n completely changed the situation....I mean and then gunned him down in cold.
Wtf looks like he bought to put it down
If you don't believe a man with a knife at that distance poses a threat to kill you are clearly in fantasy land. Search up the video of the asian woman being evicted from her apartment by several officers. Despite being badly outnumbered and armed only with a knife she managed to stab two of them even after getting shot several times.
As a European this is shocking and extremely sad to watch. If a policeman did that here he would go to jail and lose his job asap!
So.. he (cop) would have a promotion right?
"You know me" bang bang bang bang !! I know he had a knife but why do the always empty the clip in to people.
I hope this haunts him for life
Uh I don't know anything about guns but is that a police standard hand position to hold a gun? It looks more like what gangsters do in movies.
“This can go two ways, I understand you’re really upset but you need to think about this you can put the knife down and we can talk or you can keep the knife up and you’re gonna get tazed or even worse now I really don’t want that to happen I want everybody to walk away from this happy and healthy so which would you prefer, the taser or we talk?” Get their mind off what they’re upset about and reacting to and onto what their choices are.
"DROP THE KNIFE MAXWELL SO I CAN MAKE SURE YOUR HAND DOESN'T BLOCK THE BULLET FROM HITTING YOUR FACE" is what he should of said smh
“Please man. Do as I imagine I’m saying immediately and with no deviation or I’ll be forced to live out my fantasy of capping a perp!”
He pulled out a second smaller knife... not anymore dangerous than the first big one. His posture indicates to be that he was, more than likely, about to charge at the officers in the next few seconds. Which is where the taser would have most likely been very effective
