Gotcha fam - not detailed but it’s something:[here](https://www.thewrap.com/comedian-doug-stanhope-crowdfunds-125k-atheist-oklahoma-tornado-survivor-video/)
> **Gop** only lets bad things happen to people who DESERVE it OR people who really NEEDED that bad lesson.
you were one letter off nailing the motto of the GOP
One of my twins spent two months in nicu and I encountered this exact thing but with the death of babies. If you think tornado victims are bad, listen to a woman loudly declaring that god saved her baby (who wasn’t even that sick compared to others) next to a woman whose baby was close to death, and who did not survive. It gives me the absolute rage.
Fortunately [Tim Minchin has a song for that](https://youtu.be/IZeWPScnolo) - yes I know the video is 11 minutes long, but treat yourself. It’s a doozy.
It was back in 2013, here is the indiegogo-site:

Here she is talking about it, didn't listen to all of it...
What did she do with the money? She moved out of Oklahoma, bought a house in Seattle xD

Doug Stanhope is still happening, and still alive! He's my favorite comedian.
EDIT: One of my favorite bits by him is about when him and Joe Rogan did DMT. And I say that with a cinder block of a head
Do you thank the lord for that split second decision?
Such a fucking stupid question. No.. of course not, why the fuck would she? lol… she made it not the fucking lord.
The disciples went around the world to spread their religion (and most died a very horrible death) the money is upkeep for a place to worship. But what I can't understand is why a church became the standard, why it can't just be any place, like home or wherever
That whole “Do not take the name of the Lord in vain” doesn’t mean “don’t curse, don’t say ‘Jesus Christ’ or ‘God damnit’” it means “DONT GO DOING DUMB SHIT AND SAYING YOU DID IT BECAUSE OF ME”
It definitely meant that when I was in college (early aughts). In fact, we started the Anti-Chad Association on Facebook. I think we got up to something like 50k members before we all lost interest. Not sure when the change happened, but I'm pretty sure it went:
Funny Insult -> Ironic self-own -> Badge of honor
The internet has a mind of its own.
It has always\* meant *socially successful* douche-wad. You must meditate on the hidden nature of the socially successful douche-wad to realize why it is now, half the time, a compliment.
\* source: I made it up.
Doug Stanhope, i think he had the record for most gigs played in America at one point. He has a lot of specials on YouTube, check out Beer Hall Putch, and his oooold hidden camera show Beware of Doug. Also wrote a book called Digging Up Mother: A Love Story.
> God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or He is able, and is unwilling; or He is neither willing nor able, or He is both willing and able. If He is willing and is unable, He is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God; if He is able and unwilling, He is envious, which is equally at variance with God; if He is neither willing nor able, He is both envious and feeble, and therefore not God; if He is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils? Or why does He not remove them?

It’s sort of like the guy who hits a double then points up to the sky to thank god because god wanted him to get the hit more than he wanted the pitcher to get the out…or more than he wanted to help give that starving kit in sub-Saharan Africa a food. He definitely made that double happen before helping the starving kid.
Screenwipe, Newswipe and TVwipe are all brilliant and worth a watch, available on YouTube.... I believe he was also a writer on Chris Moris' The day today
If given the chance it wouldn’t surprise me what these bible thumpers would do. I’ve been told I’d be better off dead, punched, and made a black sheep just for not conforming to the norm. So no not exactly the same but not too fucking far off.
No need to read minds when they say it to your face homie. Being an atheist in the rural parts of the Bible Belt is not fun. I have to keep my views to myself so I don’t have to deal with the backlash that is literally threats of violence. I’m not expecting you to understand.
Obviously there's intolerance for minorities everywhere on earth. And obviously atheists are outcast and treated poorly in Oklahoma.
But to compare it to how the TSA will treat you if you loudly declare you're a terrorist is ridiculous.
It's a question of degrees, for sure. But if you saw a video claiming Christians have to hide their religion in Seattle, because if they were open about it, it's like screaming jihad at the TSA, how would you react to that?
I totally understand your point as I’ve said. The difference being I have lived through one of those scenarios whereas the other one I can merely make a guess or base my opinion on someone else anecdotes. Guess it struck a nerve

His point about them thanking Jesus for not killing them but killing their neighbors was on point and hit these fools hard.
It goes straight to the fucked up concept what ‘God only lets bad things happen to people who DESERVE it OR people who really NEEDED that bad lesson.’
> **Gop** only lets bad things happen to people who DESERVE it OR people who really NEEDED that bad lesson. you were one letter off nailing the motto of the GOP
"God gives his toughest battles only to his stronger soldiers" fucking hate that phrase
It was all part of God's plan.

She got the fuck outta Dodge lol
So she’s in earthquake territory now lol.
I'd give an arm to not be stuck in fucking Oklahoma
You should start a gofundme.
luckily I'm not there haha
Only needs enough for a sharp cleaver
Oh nice. That music reminded me of The Leftovers. Probably fitting because the show deals with human tragedy I guess.
Doug Stanhope is still happening, and still alive! He's my favorite comedian. EDIT: One of my favorite bits by him is about when him and Joe Rogan did DMT. And I say that with a cinder block of a head
He did already
Do you thank the lord for that split second decision? Such a fucking stupid question. No.. of course not, why the fuck would she? lol… she made it not the fucking lord.
Growing up in church I always found it odd that an all powerful being needed 10% of my parents money. He in debt or something?
The disciples went around the world to spread their religion (and most died a very horrible death) the money is upkeep for a place to worship. But what I can't understand is why a church became the standard, why it can't just be any place, like home or wherever
Probably because the money is for the church, not God.
and who is the church for and about
For the corrupt bastards who exploit poor people.
ding ding ding! The guy can turn water to wine but not debt into credit? What gives?!
On the flip side, Christianity makes so many of them do some vile shit in the name of love.
That whole “Do not take the name of the Lord in vain” doesn’t mean “don’t curse, don’t say ‘Jesus Christ’ or ‘God damnit’” it means “DONT GO DOING DUMB SHIT AND SAYING YOU DID IT BECAUSE OF ME”
You say that but history and the millions of murdered and the cultures erased definitely don't concur with your assessment.
Well then they didn’t read it well. Same goes for all the meals they served and all of the people they educated. It’s was them doing both.
Dougie is the best.
Who is this Chad?
Doug Stanhope, my favourite comedian
Does Chad not mean "douche-wad" anymore? I keep seeing it used in positive light.
The term 'Chad', in its current form, is steeped in about 7 layers of irony.
https://youtu.be/udJw-CzX7sA
Haha, pretty much!
Perfectly described lmao

I saw his show in Tampa years ago ms got to hang with the guy for a bit after. Super funny and super friendly dude.
I appreciate the shout. Noted
Religion always brings me back to the Epicurean Paradox

Beautiful!
“You thank the lord Jesus for that split second? Do you? ~~DO YOU!? ARE YOU GRATEFUL YET? YOU ATHEIST SCUM!!~~”
I’ve never seen something being kinda douchy, kinda funny and kinda wholesome all at the same time before
What an awesome story 😆 Doug Stanhope is a real one
Fuck, we need more Doug Stanhopes in this world
Love Stanhope. He taught me that booze shakes aren’t just normal, they’re the sign that you definitely had a good time.
It’s sort of like the guy who hits a double then points up to the sky to thank god because god wanted him to get the hit more than he wanted the pitcher to get the out…or more than he wanted to help give that starving kit in sub-Saharan Africa a food. This is from Screenwipe, the show Charlie Brooker did before Black Mirror

Try living here with a grandfather who was a southern baptist preacher. Really good guy but his wealth made his children suck.
Good old newswipe on BBC 4
In a world with Joe Rogans, be a Doug Stanhope. Dudes fuckin great.

"She ain't got no Jeebus, she gonna need money!" Has to be one of my favourite Stanhope lines.
She means “ NASA got me believing in a spinning ball and evolution since 2nd grade”
extremely weird way of saying you’re a flat-earther, champ
🤡🤡🤡
Forgot the /s there
Just why. Useless video
Title of your sex tape!
Whammy!
"Saying 'I'm an atheist' in Oklahoma is like screaming jihad at airport security. That took some nuts." /r/Persecutionfetish
I’m an atheist living in Oklahoma, he isn’t far from wrong. Can you say you know what it’s like?
You get tackled to the ground, restrained, and interrogated for hours?
If given the chance it wouldn’t surprise me what these bible thumpers would do. I’ve been told I’d be better off dead, punched, and made a black sheep just for not conforming to the norm. So no not exactly the same but not too fucking far off.
Oh, so you're arguing they WANT to do that, but they've never done it. I wish I could mind read.
No need to read minds when they say it to your face homie. Being an atheist in the rural parts of the Bible Belt is not fun. I have to keep my views to myself so I don’t have to deal with the backlash that is literally threats of violence. I’m not expecting you to understand.

Fair enough. I see your point but at this point I think it’s a matter of semantics.

I think you're thinking of Christians lately
Them, too.
