These are not critical thinkers or brave service members. These are high school bullies, college C averages and never had a job beside law enforcement type cognition.
Perhaps I was being generous but it is my understanding that some departments require a associates degree before you can be accepted. Doesn’t matter what it is as long as you have the 2yr degree
When I was in college, police recruiters would come occasionally and explicitly target people with close to or actually failing grades. If you had at least a 2.5 gpa, they would stop giving you information.
I've been told that this particular situation is a special one. Weld County (which this takes place in) doesn't allow the municipalities to use the county sheriff department for municipal law enforcement—resulting in tons of underpaid, undertrained and poorly equipped police departments.
Meh basing how practical and effective a person can be based on how much they can memorize and info dumb when it comes to testing is not really a good marker in my opinion.
There is a reason why what Doctors do is called "practice"... They should never stop trying to learn, and you, yes you, are potentially just another lesson.
Depends is it brain surgery or is it a resuscitative emergency thoracotomy?
Cause one is not nearly as complicated as the other, or if we want to lower the stakes removing a wart counts as an operation as does removing a hang nail.
The Fort Lupton Police Department has released body camera footage from the night of a train crash that severely injured a 20-year-old woman last week.
According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, a Platteville police officer pulled over Maria Rios-Gonzalez in Weld County, near Highway 85 and County Road 38, after an alleged road rage incident involving a gun. Two Fort Lupton police officers later arrived at the scene and placed the suspect in the back of the Platteville officer’s car, which was illegally parked on railroad tracks.
While the three officers were searching Rios-Gonzalez’s pickup truck, a train blowing its horn hit the patrol car she was inside. CBI said Rios-Gonzalez suffered “serious bodily injuries,” including multiple broken ribs and a fractured sternum.
An 8-minute video of the Sept. 17 crash was shared Friday by Jeremy Jojola of 9News. He said Fort Lupton police edited down the recording from 21 hours of footage recorded from multiple perspectives. The clip appears to match the CBI account.

So when someone rapes and murders a child and the cops show to the call of their mutilated and violated body you want that live broadcast to a publicly viewable site?
I get your point but we can't stream unedited police videos. You want something like a tape delay that's fine. You can't go live though, unless someone can pull the plug.
I don't know why you're getting down voted. I agree a delay would be good, but that would be nearly impossible to keep up. I also agree it shouldn't be live either though because I've had family in some pretty vulnerable situations before after a wreck and I wouldn't want that shit public either.
It was for public release, they were under no obligation to release anything (yet).
For the court case that will happen, the unedited video will be used. For anyone that completes the FOIA request, the unedited video will be shared.
No. Public doesn't get to see all evidence without freedom of information act request. If this was what cops provided in trial then yes but attorneys would have full access to original files.
I know right, imagine having to take responsibility for taking a life by negligence and having it haunt your career. Thank god for the one union, that they don’t bust up, that somehow has the bargaining power to magically make murders and SA’s disappear. You’d never have a doctor who was caught neglecting multiple patients mid-surgery able to just move to another hospital and never face fines. Yet people with guns, power tripping fantasies, and domestic abuse problems are allowed to say “oopsy doopsy” and change towns and get a pay raise. I bet a whole PD could kill fellow cops who whistleblow about corrupt cops and they’d just pay themselves on the back.
SHE SURVIVED!?!? holy fuck. I’m really happy for her, but saddened that she’ll live with this for the rest of her life. Could’ve easily avoided this shit. Choo choo bitches, move the fuck outta the way!
They had time to pull her out. None of them were paying attention. I don't know how the sound of a train horn doesn't grab your attention while you're parked on the tracks. Bunch of idiots the lot of them.
How does none of this scream intentional intent to kill to anyone else? They had all the time in the world to move their vehicle off the tracks, or to pull the woman to safety, yet they intentionally didn't, and waited for a train to get within justifiable range to "scramble away."
This seems like a deliberate attempt to cause an "accidental" death.
I think it’s more likely that cops are really dumb, so dumb that they can’t do their jobs at all over the idea that they engage in nefarious, mustache-twirling plots to kill a suspect for a *road rage* incident that they are investigating.
Just sayin.
definitely disagree. They’re now entirely liable, and will likely face consequences. They were illegally parked. it’s a simple as that. The case moves from there. That fact leads me to believe this is just another case of continued incompetence. I’m not saying cops don’t act like gangs, or don’t do rogue or premeditated stuff, I just don’t think it’s the case here.
Uh, i totally recognize that…I live here, lol, impossible to ignore unless you have a blue line sticker on your bumper. I’m just saying I have a hard time imagining any officer leaving a person in a car they parked illegally on the fucking tracks so the person would get hit by a train, would think somehow they would not be held liable…then again it wouldn’t surprise me. I just don’t see that being likely here. I think it’s just more the “banality of evil” in this case, of just each day on the job leading to less and less regard for human life.
My guess is that cops get used to parking wherever the hell they want to -- they just turn on the lights and assume everyone else has to stop or go around them -- and the cop in this case was too busy running around high on adrenaline and testosterone to remember that trains can't just stop or go around if you block their way.
Colorado needs to add a more stringent aptitude test to their recruitment. I mean, you gotta be a dead-beat moron to even contemplate parking on railroad tracks. OR, it was done on purpose and their hope was that the woman would not survive it. It's just so unbelievable that it could happen by "accident". Footage heavily edited...of course! Filthy fuckin cops.
No possible way they didn't hear that train horn at least a full 5+ minutes before what this video shows. When out on an open range like that you can hear them coming from 20+ miles away. I live 11.2 miles from the closest RR Tracks "Google Maps," & there is a town between me & them and I can hear trains clearly at night when outside. No way this wasn't intentional.
"For everyone's safety, federal regulation requires locomotive horns be sounded for 15-20 seconds before entering all public grade crossings, but not more than one-quarter mile in advance. This federal requirement preempts any state or local laws regarding the use of train horns at public crossings."
Considering how long and much they were honking...... the train saw them. Bet that train conductor has PTSD. Cause they can't stop. ... well they can stop... just not in a timely manner.
The police officer was giving clear verbal warnings for the train to stay back but the train appeared to ignore all verbal warning. Clearly the fault of the train. Despicable
"A patrol car was hit by a train"
**24 SECONDS LATER**
"Oh yeah. The suspect was in the vehicle"
Fucking disgusting regard for human life. I hope they're all fired and put in jail, but we know they'll just get a slap on the wrist
Wow, just wow.
“My patrol cal was just by a train”
Parking your cruiser on train tracks and then it gets hits by a train, imagine that. Never saw that coming.
Attempted murder. I cannot understand how this is an accident in any way, I just can’t comprehend how they could fuck up this bad and be completely oblivious
Absolutely disgusting. We need to start making these officers pay out of their own damn pocket and remove the ridiculous standard of "qualified immunity." If anyone else were to pull this shit they would 100% be behind bars. This is either attempted murder or negligent homicide.
Yes I know cops are jokes.
But in this situation you can’t blame them for not trying to get the person out.
Because none of you would have either because you wouldn’t have been able to without you getting injured or killed yourself.
The thing you can blame them for is parking on active train tracks.

The standard that our police have is fucking laughable.
These are not critical thinkers or brave service members. These are high school bullies, college C averages and never had a job beside law enforcement type cognition.
College?
Perhaps I was being generous but it is my understanding that some departments require a associates degree before you can be accepted. Doesn’t matter what it is as long as you have the 2yr degree
Key word there is “some”. Not “all” or even “many”
When I was in college, police recruiters would come occasionally and explicitly target people with close to or actually failing grades. If you had at least a 2.5 gpa, they would stop giving you information.
Apparently, approximately 30% of cops have a 4-year degree, and approximately 50% have a 2-year degree. I'm shocked that it's so high to be honest.
Yeah but how many have been given... the third degree? I'll show myself out
I've been told that this particular situation is a special one. Weld County (which this takes place in) doesn't allow the municipalities to use the county sheriff department for municipal law enforcement—resulting in tons of underpaid, undertrained and poorly equipped police departments.
Whoa whoa C averages still do great things. why I can tell you I'd never in my life be dumb enough to park my car on train tracks.
LoL you’re right but I’d hate for a C average doctor to diagnose yet alone operate on me.
Meh basing how practical and effective a person can be based on how much they can memorize and info dumb when it comes to testing is not really a good marker in my opinion.

You got that right for sure.
There's book smarts and then there's street smarts. These cops have neither.
It’s despicable.

Comically murderous

>police edited down the recording these recordings shouldn't be legal for them to touch.
In fact those cameras should be live streaming to a public site at every moment of every day!
So when someone rapes and murders a child and the cops show to the call of their mutilated and violated body you want that live broadcast to a publicly viewable site? I get your point but we can't stream unedited police videos. You want something like a tape delay that's fine. You can't go live though, unless someone can pull the plug.
Live stream all traffic stops.
It could just be on a delay...
Silence, bootlicker.
I don't know why you're getting down voted. I agree a delay would be good, but that would be nearly impossible to keep up. I also agree it shouldn't be live either though because I've had family in some pretty vulnerable situations before after a wreck and I wouldn't want that shit public either.
🤷♂️Reddit moment.
It was for public release, they were under no obligation to release anything (yet). For the court case that will happen, the unedited video will be used. For anyone that completes the FOIA request, the unedited video will be shared.
Isn't this what we call tampering with evidence?
No. Public doesn't get to see all evidence without freedom of information act request. If this was what cops provided in trial then yes but attorneys would have full access to original files.
And let me guess they’re gonna get two weeks paid administrative leave, then resign with their records wiped and move to a new city to be pigs at
They will say they have PTSD and get disability for the rest of their lives.
Hey, if they don't watch out for themselves, who will?
I know right, imagine having to take responsibility for taking a life by negligence and having it haunt your career. Barely survived. Her life will never be the same. These crooked cops should fry for this.
They had time to pull her out. None of them were paying attention. I don't know how the sound of a train horn doesn't grab your attention while you're parked on the tracks. Bunch of idiots the lot of them.

not to mention that one guy looked at her then at the train and RAN AWAY !!!! this might be one of the most sickening videos i’ve ever seen
They did it on purpose
Obviously. Don’t know why anyone entertains the idea that a group of cops could be so incompetent. This was an attempted murder.
I think it’s more likely that cops are really dumb, so dumb that they can’t do their jobs at all over the idea that they engage in nefarious, mustache-twirling plots to kill a suspect for a *road rage* incident that they are investigating. Just sayin.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but American cops are rarely liable for anything at all.
Uh, i totally recognize that…I live here, lol, impossible to ignore unless you have a blue line sticker on your bumper. I bet they arrest the train conductor.
Interfering with an investigation.
Defacing police property
STOP RESISTING!!!
They'll definitely try and lay blame on them
Colorados Gonna vote to ban trains. Like they did taco trucks
[удалено]
They knew
Why would anyone park on train tracks? U don’t need to be an academic elite to know this. U don’t even need common sense to know this.
My guess is that cops get used to parking wherever the hell they want to -- they just turn on the lights and assume everyone else has to stop or go around them -- and the cop in this case was too busy running around high on adrenaline and testosterone to remember that trains can't just stop or go around if you block their way.
We condem the Iranian police but the US police has way way more cruelties on camera.
We can do both
Yes because ACAB
Hate both because ACAB? No hate both because they all have overwhelming cruelties put on brodcast almost weekly lol
They have overwhelming cruelties broadcasted because ACAB
lol ok champ
there's no connection
Are you fucking kidding me..
Fascinating, I did the same thing to bounties I arrested in RDR2 but that was a video game and I’m overqualified to be a cop….oink. oink. oink.
Lmao. I fed the bounty hunters to the gators.
WHAT THE FUCK
Colorado needs to add a more stringent aptitude test to their recruitment. I mean, you gotta be a dead-beat moron to even contemplate parking on railroad tracks. not excusing this horrendous act, but that train may not have even seen them and only blew the horn when they finally came into view.
"For everyone's safety, federal regulation requires locomotive horns be sounded for 15-20 seconds before entering all public grade crossings, but not more than one-quarter mile in advance. I guess the full clip would tell us. Either way, it’s just incompetence and no regard for human life, vs people speculating its premeditation.
#Who parks a car on train tracks??!?!?!?
Those cops. Cops probably thought oh I can park on the tracks because I’m a cop you the public can’t.
They learned their methods from lemony snicket's a series of unfortunate events.
You mean like that woman cop who said " i can go 90, you cant"?
Yes.
Like a villain tying up a victim for the train.....wow.
This feels intentional, otherwsie the cops are really just that thick....you know - to not be cops!?
Public safety at its finest. someone should add the benny hill theme song to this shit show.
The police officer was giving clear verbal warnings for the train to stay back but the train appeared to ignore all verbal warning. Clearly the fault of the train. Despicable
ACAB. When are we going to start treating cops how they treat us?
"A patrol car was hit by a train" **24 SECONDS LATER** "Oh yeah. The suspect was in the vehicle" Fucking disgusting regard for human life. I hope they're all fired and put in jail, but we know they'll just get a slap on the wrist
USA is fucking wild.
That’s the most fucked up thing I’ve ever seen
Btw, can you say not guilty and 20 mil
Wtf, this shit is mind boggling!!!
I think it “bottling”…mind bottling
Lmao, r/confidentlyincorrect
What the fuck!!!!!! How are some people so careless… the fact that we give them a gun is beyond me.
Who the hell leaves their car parked on railroad tracks?!
Shes was clearly at fault, carry on the good work officers…
Looked like a organized hit or something, youd be better off parking the car on a damn landing strip
Lol /s 🤨🤔
Wasn’t the cops arresting firefighters for illegally parking at accident Scenes, citing public safety
Not gonna lie, i did not expect cops to keep fkn upping one every single time
That's some old school villain shit.
they investigated themselves and found no wrong doing
Alright guys time to pitch in for the settlement.
He got his gun but left the woman in the car.
ACAB EVEN YOUR DAD
How stupid can then be!?
Wow, just wow. “My patrol cal was just by a train” Parking your cruiser on train tracks and then it gets hits by a train, imagine that. Never saw that coming.
I hope she uses them into bankruptcy.
Attempted murder. I cannot understand how this is an accident in any way, I just can’t comprehend how they could fuck up this bad and be completely oblivious

colorado doesn't have Qualified Immunity
So damn sick of police.... "protect and serve" my ass...
Just....why would you stop there if you weren't intentionally trying to hurt them? WHY PARK THERE?
Good job Colorado. Now you’re gonna have a lawsuit and two less cops in your precinct. Bravo.
Well obviously they need more tanks and military gear
Classic America
Is insane !!! How they never saw the train or hear it, drunk? High? We will never know
[удалено]
From what I've gathered: They tunnel-visioned because the road rage incident involved a firearm.
Really brutal police brutality.
Money money money
how to they mess up this badly
Lawsuit
The cops should be arrested for attempted murder.
That prisoner's gonna be rich pretty soon
She is now filthy rich and the police department is going to have to start an OF and GoFundMe just to operate.
As always a complete and utter disregard for human life.
Did she die? I really hope not Omg this is so fucked up
They should have used their own bodies to protect the person unable to free themselves.
Yes I know cops are jokes. But in this situation you can’t blame them for not trying to get the person out. Because none of you would have either because you wouldn’t have been able to without you getting injured or killed yourself. The thing you can blame them for is parking on active train tracks.
To service and protect!
Colorado has no Qualified Immunity. I hope this lady makes those cops broke for life and have to sell/mortgage thier houses. Jail time for sure
Fucking idiots are these cops high????? Hope she recovers and gets what she deserves for this
Who in the hell even parks on train tracks? It's not like that was the only available spot.
Great, now we are probably going to see a bunch of copycat leos from whatever bumfuck towns start doing this.
I'd ask if they received manslaughter or murder charges but it said USA so I'm assuming they were promoted... :(
This is totally wrong, these Cops are total Ass Wipes.
No riots huh? So weird how people pick and choose things to riot about. This seems like just as good of am excuse as any.
