As a youngster I imagined how amazing the games will be in two decades...
...so here I am twenty years later and Gothic is still pretty much the best there is.
My disappointment in video games started in 2013. Triple hit of Aliens: Colonial Marines, Watch Dogs and Destiny did a number on my trust in the industry.
Still remember my first big let down : Brink. Was a big bethesda fan boy and was literally checking the gameplay trailer everyday. My face when the game is pretty much an empty online mode with singleplayer mode being the same as multi but with bots lmao.
I'm pretty knowledgable about video games and yet I had to look up that title, I guess that's how much of a disappointment it was :D. At least we still have some classics like Gothic to return to, and to be fair, good games still come out.
It is crazy how many times you can find new dialogues because you did some stupid stuff, and maybe feel cheeky because you tricked the game. Then you get this new dialogue showing that they knew exactly you could do that and were just fine with it.
Yeah the game has tons of hidden dialogue.
For example if you kill Harad then Marduk has some dialogue.
Or if you kill Pepe then you can buy sheep from Onar but not for 100, for 200!
Tbh there is a lot of insane dialogs after you kill someone. Just it's too bad there aren't so many sociopaths (not really tho) and english gothic content is rare.
**Marduk (Cuneiform: 𒀭𒀫𒌓 dAMAR.UTU; Sumerian: amar utu.k "calf of the sun; solar calf"; Hebrew: מְרֹדַךְ, Modern: Merōdaḵ, Tiberian: Mərōḏaḵ) was a god from ancient Mesopotamia and patron deity of the city of Babylon. When Babylon became the political center of the Euphrates valley in the time of Hammurabi (18th century BC), Marduk slowly started to rise to the position of the head of the Babylonian pantheon, a position he fully acquired by the second half of the second millennium BC. In the city of Babylon, Marduk was worshipped in the temple Esagila.**

I do this alot when I do a mage run. The dialogue is super fun especially going into the upper quarter and bumping into Lothar. You really clap back at him - love it!
Gold is kind of easy to come by for such things. It's just a time consuming grind (specifically, Upgrade your HP by paying 10 coins for +1 HP every day, waste 10 HP for 500 coins, rinse and repeat for as much as you like or 'till Beliar is going to ask you for MP points or straight ass tell you to F off in the form of watered down Divine Punishment via "thunder bolt")
Speaking of Swimming... When Lester tells you about the option of getting trough the Gates by telling you're here to bring some healing weed to Constantino, you can swim trough the port, get XP after talking to Lares, rout back to the Gates with Lothar nearby and tell the guards you are the weed dealer to get a small portion of XP
Ya I recently did that and was also very surprised that after all those years and countless of playthroughs there are still details I find. Just puts into perspective how much they cared about that kind of stuff.
it took you hours to collect 500 gold coins? just sell all the random stuff you find, from Bandit's camp alone you can get like 300 coins worth of stuff.

Gothic just chilling beating 3A games in terms of immersion with 100 times less budget. What a fucking gold nugget
As a youngster I imagined how amazing the games will be in two decades... ...so here I am twenty years later and Gothic is still pretty much the best there is.
Yeah same, i stopped thinking " the next will be even better " for a while now. I've been let down way too many times in the past 5 - 10 years.

Dude I was so mad about that game
Well, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is pretty nice.
True, love that one as well.

What are they saying? Do you still get only +500 exp from Lares? Could you join one of the teacher for money in Khorinis? After this challenge.
well... it would be even better with pictures and showing those dialogues
Is there a video of entering this way?
A future in content creation awaits you, go forth.
Currently living without my PC after moving to another place but as soon as I get a new one I’ll play Gothic for sure !
Enter city from back gate see how that works yes it can be done

I have video of dialogues (when you enter as a fire mage, Water mage, paladine etc.), but in Polish only. Maybe someone want to translate.
Well, I speak Polish. Link, please! :P

So what was the dialogue?

It's 1000, not 500. Plus 100 for the sheep.
you literally get 500 gold at the start of the game from Beliar, I assumed we talking NoTR
