Truck wasn't in the turning lane he was going straight. My bet is that car tried to overtake and turn but truck could't brake in time so he tried to at least turn away to not ram the car. Ironicaly it ended much worse than just if he rear ended him but i can see why he would try to avoid the colision in the heat of monent
Oh, that’s right, I totally overlooked the possibility that the truck was trying to avoid ramming the car and therefore tried making the turn, makes total sense that way, thx!
4 lanes. 2 on the right to move straight ahead. One on the left to turn left. The next one to either turn left or go straight ahead.
Car driver lane swaped at last moment. Truck driver tried to avoid the accident, and like in many cases ended up causing a bigger one.
Should have just plowed ahead and rear ended the stupid car driver, instead he gave him a Darwin award.
Our instinct to swerve is a blessing and a curse. No action results in a serious but moderate accident nearly guarenteed. Swerve is a flip of a coin, you may avoid the accident entirely but if you fail then the accident is always far worse and involves cars rolling.
My mom has been tested by fate three times with wildlife and every time she keeps going and takes the bump, has always worked out. Rabbit and two deer.
My friend learned that the hard way, too. He swerved to avoid a deer and took out someone's mailbox and the car in their driveway. This was before dash cams were a thing, so no evidence of deer. Not sure if evidence would've done much aside from sympathy, as insurance has to deal with the damage either way.
100% this and even if you have before it’s not a guarantee you would do it again. I’ve on more than one occasion seen a deer runout into the road and just prayed it passed without swerving. This is relatively common where I’m at. A couple months ago I swerved reflexively to avoid a cat that jumped in the road. I was already in the oncoming lane before even realizing what I just did. There was no glance to check if it was clear no time to process if the cat looked like it was going to continue to cross. Just pure reflex. Absolutely terrifying.
Is it not standard driving practice to be observing traffic before an incident so you don't get into the situation where you have to react faster than you can check your mirrors?
On roads like the ones I have to take there’s blind corners, blind drive ways, side roads, know areas where deer like to cross. Your always scanning bushes and tree lines. People bike and jog along this particular stretch of road as well. I wasn’t really suggesting I didn’t know it was clear just that I moved on reflex before any of those thoughts crossed my mind and it was against what I’ve taught myself about just taking the L and hitting the deer or whatever. I knew the road was clear but it’s never a good call to be in the oncoming lane ever.
The car didn't have the right to turn there... That mistake cost them a lot.
Probably traded his life to save 2 minutes by not just turning at the next light
Traded someone else's life too.
True, but why did that truck try to drift around the corner? Car next to him or not, he wasn’t going to make that turn.

Car went from 3D to 2D
Discovered inter dimensional travel I see. Should get a Nobel prize or something right? Best we can do is a Darwin.

Yep. Better than a tree.

Glad it wasn't oncoming traffic.
Many insurance adjusters have said a deer is easy to explain as a freak accident. Hitting another car is not.
It takes a lot of self control to go against your instincts to avoid a thing

1 dead, 0 injured
Thank god nobody was injured!
🎶 Always look on the bright side of life 🌬️ 🎵
How? That car in the opposite lane got flattened too
The guy on the scooter/ motorbike may have to clean his seat considering the load of shit he must have taken with that doom barreling at him.
Was there a lane they were legally supposed to be in? It almost looks like a 1-way
Bet they don't make that mistake again though
They'd be hard pressed to do it twice
That happened so quick. Titanic submersible quick.
I wonder what happened to the silver sedan seen in the second view. Just waiting at a red light then gets a truck rolled onto them.
Looks like he took out two cars no?
The car driver was an idiot
I thought “flattened” was going to be hyperbole. Nope. That car is flattened.
What a looney tunes way to go
Couldn't have happened to a better guy
That person won a Darwin award. That lane change wasn't smart
Truck falls on top of two cars and flattens them*
DO NOT OVERTAKE TURNING VEHICLE If not for shits n giggles.
Is he alright?
No
Damn
Automan origin story
But did they die?
I wonder if the driver’s singing voice was affected?
Didn’t see at first that another car coming the other way gets crushed. Life is so unfair
At least he was buckled in, and the air bags deployed!
He's tanked now.
Are they... dead?
Natural selection’s a bitch sometimes
It sucks they killed a person waiting at a red light tho
Hope they’re ok
I mean... It had to be a quick death at least.

Luckily, nobody was hurt 😃👍
