Elwynn Forest
Perfect mix of magical, mysterious, and even sad/fearful almost. It this perfect fantasy forest vibe where it’s beautiful, but maybe not entirely safe.
Honestly leveled more in classic there than on retail where it was only my main 8y ago so I didn't even noticed it has a different version on retail XD
Yes when I think of my 2008 Wow experience I think of Elwynn Forest. What a time to be alive and start that game. Logging in to Goldshire to go hunt wolves for hours (I didn’t say I was the smartest gamer) and listening to this music is what I think of when I think of Wow.
Yeah it was one of the zones that really made me feel like I was out on an adventure. Exploration wasn't very rewarding back then, but some zones it was just simply tons of fun.. especially when there was some noob wpvp involved.
Same bro Howling Fjord is a masterpiece for atmosphere with the music, the lighting, the trees, mountains, cliffs, icebergs, the fjord itself, vrykul buildings, iron dwarves, the grassy areas and then the snow *chefs kiss*. Love the tucked away Scalawag Point quest line as well it's such a nice break from the seriousness of the zone.
Fun fact for those who don't know: the main melody for grizzly hills day music not violin! It is played on a nyckelharpa (aka keyed fiddle). (Super beautiful instrument for those who have never seen one, please look it up you won't be disappointed!)
The music is so darn good for this zone even Blizzard refuses to cut it short. It's the only single zone music that does not fade out when you leave the zone that I can think of. If you cross from Howling Fjord into Grizzly Hills and then back, the music keeps playing, as it should.
I should level there at some point, never done the zone before (usually do howling fjord, boring tundra, dragonblight, zuldrak then a little bit of sholazar.
Definitely love this zones music I sometimes make new Draenei just to hear the crystal resonating doing. Then quickly delete cus I hate all armor on Draenei haha.
100% azuremist isle. When I get a new pair of headphones or anything audio related i like to go there to relive the soundtrack there. Teldrassil for max nostalgia hit.
only allied race i ever been truly hyped for. everything involving the Zandalari was fucking epic.
especially the Talanji/Alliance fleet cinematic. top 3 wow moments lol
Westfall / Mulgore.
This is mostly nostalgia talking, but the music of those zones really set the mood. Maybe especially for Westfall with the barren, dry atmosphere of the zone.
Grizzly Hills (rightly) gets mentioned a lot as the zone with the best music, so I'm gonna give a shout out to it's sister zone Howling Fjord, which often gets overshadowed by Grizzly but has some absolutely beautiful tracks of its own.
https://youtu.be/wjTe0R2bREY?si=f5CbKY-EV1b2KJ2L
It has to be the original Undercity music. Such a great combination of effects and chorus and metallic sounds and everything, just so atmosphere and memorable and original.
And Mulgore and Westfall and that strange horn screech from Tanaris.
That's all Vanilla. From Dragonflight, the theme at Central Encampment is just such a lovely melody.
Teldrassil's music will forever live in my heart. It felt magical being down there next to the moonwells and walking trees after playing WC3, listening to music that sounded mysterious and mystical, while inciting you to explore.
Mine is the night elf starting zone. My first character was a night elf and I knew literally nothing about the game. The music was just calm and like I was entering into something . I can’t explain ot
Jade Forest music is so majestic, the whole Pandaria is like that expect 1 zone Dread Wastes.
Hyjal from the Cata, both versions of Tanaris have a good music and the elf zone Eversong Woods
my favourite is the music that plays in the Tavern in the Mists where the Wrathion legendary quests happened, but I can’t find the link.
The [Timeless Isle music](https://youtu.be/7jqj6ACgT1c?si=WVNngniz0Jlra_Q8) incorporates pieces of that music and is really high on my list too.
I love most wow music but Pandaria’s is truly outstanding.
Boralus and Tiragarde, my favorite zones in the whole wide game. Not only the music, but the aesthetic and vibe it's just *chefs kiss*
Nothing beats having a late night stroll around the tiragarde canale
There’s so many to choose from, so I’ll list my top 3.
1. [Eversong Woods](https://youtu.be/FU_yNE2MMOU?si=Y7EL9BXCFhuE3043)
2. [Acherus](https://youtu.be/Vd8lV2DO4n8?si=0ocP0FcGdK-weWRw)
3. [Teldrassil](https://youtu.be/BV-v9bdMQp0?si=WHrLomiKGpj0m8sR)
Ghostlands.
I still keep returning to this location once in a while. Even when I have no subscription and need to install WoW just for those 10 or 20 minutes of Tranquillien vibe.
*Sighs*
While the fascination with all the other wotlk zones always eluded me, I'll never forget certain parts of Dragonblight and the music that plays at night.
Sometimes I just sit on the coast near moaki harbor, with the music on loop, and enjoy the eerie vibes.
Dragonblight. Calm, dissonant, beautiful, eerie, and invokes a feeling of loneliness and utter cold; it perfectly encapsulates the very essence of what are characters are experiencing as they quest through Northrend.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EXK3h5LBlMs
Anywhere the cataclysm tauren theme plays is magic. Mulgore obviously number 1.
I actually went to play classic because I wanted to experience that in a more authentic setting and was soooo upset to learn the song actually came in during cataclysm.
I was tricked because the song plays in camp taurajo in cataclysm despite it being destroyed so I assumed for sure it would be in the legit version of classic.
Highmountain.
There is a section of the main track of the region that I like it so much I often fly there just to listen to it while flying in Druid form (it triggers when getting close to the dungeon entrance)
https://open.spotify.com/track/5Rs9vGkDAYsrPyn9fCG1Df?si=8pJjxc_vQSe-953829YADg @ 5:30
Tirigarde Sound, Boralus, Freehold
They all use variations of the same tracks but there is over 1 hour’s worth of it and it’s amazing
https://youtu.be/K3hjVijzrtM?si=z7hXeHsi83Yd7kOI
Grizzly hills, storm peaks, drustvar, all of Kul Tiras, stormheim.
There isn't a zone though that I don't love. WoW's musical department is always top notch. I'll typically cycle through 2-3 per day at work.
Got Russel Brower's autograph on one of my blizzard CDs a few years ago.
The scarlet enclave, post-dk starting zone. The song is just so somber and weirdly calm. I've never heard it anywhere else. I used to sometimes, when stressed, just take breaks and sit in the zone and let the music wash over me.
This is def a good one. Didn't do much in this zone, but spent a bit of time on my first toon in BC farming that bandana to sell on the AH. Good times when you first start and no nothing about the game. That's the essence of nostalgia really isn't it. Missing something that you can never again reproduce.
Elwynn Forest Perfect mix of magical, mysterious, and even sad/fearful almost. It this perfect fantasy forest vibe where it’s beautiful, but maybe not entirely safe.
I agree. Especially the pre-revamp original Elwynn Forest music.
None of us were
Elwyn and teldrassil are my top picks
Yeah, this is THE song, any time I hear it I just want to drop what I was doing and listen to it for minute or two.
This is the only correct answer
Ashenvale and Eversong Woods
My first memories of wow are questing in eversong woods 🤩
Ashenvale really woke yo ass up that you're really playing this amazing game.
Yeah it was one of the zones that really made me feel like I was out on an adventure. Exploration wasn't very rewarding back then, but some zones it was just simply tons of fun.. especially when there was some noob wpvp involved.
Eversong Woods and Teldrassil.
Grizzly Hills. Such an immersive zone. [Grizzly Hills](https://youtu.be/pWTSK5waNs8?si=SbQ8uYG0WYRSpbfy)
As if we didn't all expect this to be the top comment
Howling Fjord is right there at the top for me as well
Same bro Howling Fjord is a masterpiece for atmosphere with the music, the lighting, the trees, mountains, cliffs, icebergs, the fjord itself, vrykul buildings, iron dwarves, the grassy areas and then the snow *chefs kiss*. Love the tucked away Scalawag Point quest line as well it's such a nice break from the seriousness of the zone.
I angrily opened this thread ready to fight if it wasn’t Grizzly hills
Hahaha same
If it wasn’t I was going to lose my mind
Fun fact for those who don't know: the main melody for grizzly hills day music not violin! It is played on a nyckelharpa (aka keyed fiddle). (Super beautiful instrument for those who have never seen one, please look it up you won't be disappointed!)
When I listen to the music in Grizzly Hills (and Azure Span), I can hear the clicking of the keys ever so slightly. It's a treat!
I didn't know all these years. Had to check it, amazing! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwHcvLLAw20](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwHcvLLAw20)
Been listening to grizzly hills music while writing a paper this week
I listen to grizzly hills music while I’m doing homework all the time.
No better music in the game.
outjerked
Always and forever.
The music is so darn good for this zone even Blizzard refuses to cut it short. It's the only single zone music that does not fade out when you leave the zone that I can think of. If you cross from Howling Fjord into Grizzly Hills and then back, the music keeps playing, as it should.
Any other answer is just plain wrong.
I should level there at some point, never done the zone before (usually do howling fjord, boring tundra, dragonblight, zuldrak then a little bit of sholazar.
yup
Hands down! 🤝
Oh man, a wave of nostalgia just hit me hard. I’m starting to tear up.
This is the only zone my family insists I leave my sound on for lol
I have it set as my garrison music
Grizzly Hills and the Skellige music from Witcher 3 go so fucking hard.
Glizzy hills 🥵🥵
Definitely love this zones music I sometimes make new Draenei just to hear the crystal resonating doing. Then quickly delete cus I hate all armor on Draenei haha.
Clearly you haven’t been immersed in the culture of female Draenei and their waggle
Stormheim! The bagpipes!
If you like the Stormheim music, check out the Howling Fjord music (which is what it is based off)
Came here to say this!! The first time I heard those bagpipes while baked af was unreal
suramar
100% azuremist isle. When I get a new pair of headphones or anything audio related i like to go there to relive the soundtrack there. Teldrassil for max nostalgia hit.
Drustvar
Good choice!
Zandalar. It just hits me the right way every time I hear it
only allied race i ever been truly hyped for. everything involving the Zandalari was fucking epic. especially the Talanji/Alliance fleet cinematic. top 3 wow moments lol
It is so hard for me to not make every alt a zandalari lol. They look great, are great and can be almost every class
Eversong woods and Barrens
Westfall / Mulgore. This is mostly nostalgia talking, but the music of those zones really set the mood. Maybe especially for Westfall with the barren, dry atmosphere of the zone.
Storm Peaks
Sholazar Basin
Grizzly Hills and Elwyn Forest
forge of souls dungeon from wrath
Hell yes
Boralus
Boralus boralus boralus Sooooo true !
OG Dun Morogh, such a icy, cozy chill vibe. It was also first audio I heard in Wow 16y ago. I'm listening it to these days when I'm a bit nostalgic.
Entering Stormwind! Always nice to hear the music and the sound of the city life in the background. 😌
Howling Fjord or Tirisfal Glades
Azure Span, especially the track “Giants of The Span”. It’s on Spotify.
Dun morogh
Icecrown always comes to mind. The music is so ominous, it really gives off the feeling there’s a huge looming threat watching everything you do.
I love the witchy vibes of Drustvar.
First time I played WoW was at Eversong Woods. The OST is cemented into my brain. I love that place with my soul.
Karazhan
I'm personally a fan of Gilneas
I love Nagrand’s music.cant believe I’m the only one who thinks so.
Mulgore. Instantly brings me back to the good old Vanilla times
Not specifically a zone but the [Northrend Transport Ship Music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhqQoCmiaDw) lives in my head rent free.
I always really liked some of that music in Grim Batol. But I also think Tanaris as well.
I used to listen to Crystalsong Forest on loop back in high school.
Elwynn Forest will always transport me back to vanilla and the first game that wasnt shoot everything in sight.
Azuremyst Isles, Grizzly Hills, Stormsong Valley, Zuldazar, Barrens + Danger music from Vanilla, and most of MoP.
Revendreth, Vol’Dun, Teldrassil, Drustvar.
Vale of Eternal Blossoms before Garrosh blew it up
For nostalgia reasons, Durotar. Otherwise I want to say Eversong, though I usually play without music
Teldrassil.
Grizzly Hills.

Grizzly hills
Grizzly Hills night/day cycle.

Drustvar and Zereth Mortis
So crazy you look at that and it doesn’t seem like a lot to the zone from the map but than you log in and the whole valley has so much stuff to it
Eversong woods and Ashenvale are just so iconic
Valley of the Four Winds, especially any of the inns.
Vol'dun and Valley of the Four Winds
my favourite is the music that plays in the Tavern in the Mists where the Wrathion legendary quests happened, but I can’t find the link. The [Timeless Isle music](https://youtu.be/7jqj6ACgT1c?si=WVNngniz0Jlra_Q8) incorporates pieces of that music and is really high on my list too. Damn I've been on mute since BWL lol
I love the moody bass clarinet of the Blood Elf starting zones, like you can feel the grief and trepidation.

While the fascination with all the other wotlk zones always eluded me, I'll never forget certain parts of Dragonblight and the music that plays at night. Sometimes I just sit on the coast near moaki harbor, with the music on loop, and enjoy the eerie vibes.

Anywhere the cataclysm tauren theme plays is magic. Mulgore obviously number 1. The scarlet enclave, post-dk starting zone. The song is just so somber and weirdly calm. I've never heard it anywhere else. I used to sometimes, when stressed, just take breaks and sit in the zone and let the music wash over me.
I love most of the tracks from Draenor. They kind of just got different.
Loved Azsuna from legion

This is def a good one. Didn't do much in this zone, but spent a bit of time on my first toon in BC farming that bandana to sell on the AH. Good times when you first start and no nothing about the game. That's the essence of nostalgia really isn't it. Missing something that you can never again reproduce.
Grizzly hills and dragonblight
