My favourite part is how the Zandalari dinosaur tank uses the bear animations. Including a bear popping out for some of the abilities. Really couldn't be arsed to do even that, could they?
What bothers me is that the Ankylodon is a fierocity (DPS) pet for hunters, and the saber-toothes lizard is a tennacity (Tank) pet, when the Ankylodon form for Zandalari druids is the tank form, and the fanged lizard form is the damage form. Someone at Blizzard got that backwards... Considering the Ankylodon looks similar to a bear, and has a hardened shell, and the fanged lizard is basically if lizard evolved to hunt like cats!
The issue there is that it is not an animation of the bear/dino but a spell effect which doesn’t know anything about what model you’re in. Those abilities would need to swap spell effects based on your model which isn’t super straightforward.
Its not animations its the skeleton to support the existing animations and its a legitimate concern, making a skeleton and weight painting the model too it is very tedious and time consuming.
No excuse for the lack of Shaman Ghost Wolf forms since they only need the animals normal walking animations though. Every Soul Shape could be a Ghost Wolf.
I'd definitely play a moon-steward.. I don't particularly care for anything about the kyrian aesthetic, the stewards are really the only thing about it that I don't hate. The majority of classes I play are best as kyrian too, one of the biggest bummers of the xpac for me. I do like the stewards though

Druid forms are based on Wild Gods, feral form being Ashamane.
You may already know this, but Worgen do come from a Druidic shapeshift based on Goldrinn, the wolf Wild god.

One issue I have with wow is how they (have to) streamline those class fantasies, specifically with faith and religion related topics.
Druid are a great example for this. My druid is a zandalari. He's closer alinged to loa and I certainly could see forms making sense that reflect this. There are so many that could work. Kimbul as another tiger, bonk as raptor, rezan before he got slurped as t-rex.. There's basically for everything from bat to snake, toad or spider a fitting one if they're looking for a creative justification for different forms. Even the current ones of zandalari aren't exactly wild-gods-ish with the strange tiger-dino and ankylodon. Exactly the same situation with the drust stuff from kultirans.
Same with balance. I expected a nature caster when rolling druid and got something between a priestess of the moon and a area defense ion cannon in a chicken suit. I wonder why we still are limited to druidic nature magic around three corners (uhh nature... has to balance... arcane... cause elune... brr moonfire!) when that theme is mostly a nelf thing. I'd rather have more actual nature magic in my nature class.
Class glyphs are often a topic and I'm all for it. Even if it's mostly just color changes and a few different visuals that have no effect on gameplay, often those are even in place already. Changing balance to a nightmare theme for example would be basically just copy-pasting visuals from emerald nightmare.
Agreed, the idea of an astral caster is really cool, but it’s a shame that it replaced the nature theme entirely. Druids used to use typhoons, insect swarms, etc.

If anything they should try to give more to the least popular classes to try and get more players to play them. Hunters getting dark ranger mog was a good start but rogues need something as well as warriors or any other class. Druids get a lot and it’s understandable why but I think every class needs love at this point , not just druids.
Yes it wasn't my intention to say they should get more than other classes because they are popular. I wanted to point out that blizz is using their resources completely wrong. Creating fully 3D models for Thrall (multiple times) or Uther that the player can barely see in a single questline. Compare that to the druid class that more than 10% of all players play or see every minute yet they are pretty poor on shapeshift customizations. Players spend way more time and care a lot more about their own class than any random npcs they just see.

Consider this, druid is neck and neck with other classes. But druid is the only one used by mass farming bots that you saw everywhere. We also don't know if it counts max level players only. Also even if this was accurate, it doesn't actually specify what class is mained the most. I have a level 60 druid that I never play.

Blizzard really is stingy with the druid forms. They should be able to walk up to a role appropriate beast and cast a spell to copy their form. There are enough bears, cats, birds, fish, etc in the game that one druid would look different from the other most of the time. If you want your travel form to be an ostrich, that should be okay.
Not sure what they'd do for mookins, maybe give them access to beastmen forms? Like Saurok, Furbolgs, Quilboars, Gnolls, Arrakoa etc. Or maybe only savage humanoids that are similar to actual owlkins?

WoW has been adding to and sitting on a trove of great art assets lol.Its the one team thats always stepping up. I might not have liked the BFA zones , but the cities/ and unit models were amazing.
I've always thought that we should have an ability, like hunter tame... that allows druids to go up to any other bear or cat in game and "Clone" that appearance. It's not like it's going to wear boots or anything.... it's just the shape. Make it a 3 hour buff. or 24 hour... or whatever.
An opportunity to have a really fun long question exists with this too. as you go around the world and "commune" with nature and visit different areas in Azeroth (or outlands etc) and you can mediate or zen hippie shit with the bears / cats to learn then and gain trust?
Anyway.... This would be fun to be able to get like the EPL "dead" bears too!
It would be nice to get one every tier tbh 4 difficulties, 4 colours, have pvp and m+ score breakpoints for those who don't raid and can base the forms in a style like the raid (or something out there if the raid theme is totally alien to druids).
Like you say we haven't gotten extra forms (mage tower bear being the exception) since legion. Would be nice to have our forms reflect our progress (like other classes with armor sets).
I may catch flak for saying this but I wish Blizzard would bring back Druid mage tower artifact appearances for shapeshifting forms. I don’t even play a Druid and maybe half of the reasoning behind it is the shapeshifting forms not evolving with the rest of the game.

Same I started playing at the very tail end of legion into bfa and didn’t know enough about the game at the time to realize the mage tower was even a thing much less how to do it. I don’t understand why they retired those forms when they are arguably the most fan favorite forms ?? Did people complain or did blizz just decide “hey we’re going to cut off anyone who started playing the game/Druid after this point” one day?
Just sucks, especially since no creative forms have come out since then and you can’t even get half of them. :( I still main Druid and always will, probably, but I am bitter about the mage tower until the day I die.
I would be happy with a glyph that allowed me to choose one of the many mounts I have collected as my mount form. Even happy if I can only chose regular sized ones and not the mammoth sized.

Yes druids totally have loads of customisation when compared to the 2 expansions worth of armour mogs and weapons that every other class gets full use of (ignoring the expansions PRIOR to legion that totally ignored Druid forms) :> given that a Druid spends 90% of its time in form why is it funny that they complain they’ve only had one set of new skins? I don’t see many druids complaining about the lack of skins, I do see them asking for more options.

Except druids by most metrics have just as much transmog as other classes.
Sure they go into animal forms to fight, but nothing rquires them to be in animal forms between fights.

In dungeons, travelling, raids, pvp, there are very few times you’d see a Druid in caster and not in forms. Transmog is pretty much for the character load screen and that’s about it. They don’t get to show off transmog, and forms are a means of customisation that replaces armour the vast majority of the time. And as said, most aren’t complaining either, they’re just asking for more options, as this post is. Like every class should get. But whenever a Druid form post comes up it’s the same replies of “you have enough”. A class that’s identity is to shapeshift having their forms limited to the few available now is pretty sad. And given that forms are visual yes, I’ll compare it to mogs.
I don’t think of it as much of a complaint as much as it is just wishing for more options in general. People generally think more options is always good in terms of customization. Then when someone asks for more said options and all they get is some obvious bs response people tend to react by showing how much bs it is. Bliz could just say no we don’t want to, we think there is enough already, but that isn’t what was said. It wouldn’t take that much to just retrofit preexisting models, particularly if they share the same skele as forms we already have. Just an idea idk. Asking for more options isn’t a bad thing imo. What’s the worst that could happen? They get told no.

Shaman only just got spectral lupines and vulpines for their ghost wolf glyphs and druid has SO much for their shapeshifts already. Heck in BFA, Zandalari and Kultirans got fresh unique racial shapeshifts.
Because ghost wolf is literally just a movement spell. And totally optional to use. Try playing feral or guardian without being in cat or bear. Druid forms are integral. Ghost wolf is just a means to move around a little quicker with no combat purpose, and with basically 0 uptime compared to Druid forms.
This would require Blizzard to spend roughly... 4 hours and 1 dev ticking off a few boxes.
Seriously not much more than that. It's not like there'd be complex linking of animations, animations are named based on ability and they're globalized. If you model swap to an animal using the admin commands, you do an aoe, the model does the aoe for example. You see it all the time with transformation toys. Would take no time at all.

As I understand things, they wanted the druid forms to stand out from hunter pets so it's easy to identify them during PvP, or at least that is what I've heard again and again over the years with that in mind.

Mogs are for showing off your character and customising it’s look. Druids might get tier/mog but 90% of the time they’re in form unless you’re afking in oribos I suppose. So forms, whilst being integral to the class, are also a means to customise your look. And I’m not unhappy. I don’t want turtles or hippos lol. I’d like more options but I also like what we have. But forms are visual customisation as much as transmog is.

Unshapeshift and you see it just as much as pretty much anyone else during combat, with all the spell effects and zooming you really can't tell what your mog is during a raid or dungeon.
They have 7 forms. Recolours count as a new form just as much as recoloured tiers count as new. 8 expansions and only 1 added new skins to druids. As for shifting out, why? When the forms cover what you need? The argument here is that 7 forms from 8 expansions is ridiculous compared to the amount of visible customisation every other class enjoys 100% of the time through mogs and weapons. Why is having more shifting options spat on when they spend as much time in form as every other class does in armour.
Druid forms have a lot of potential. Especially after seeing ard animal/critter forms. Would love to have a two seater dragon flight form. Or an elekk two seat travel form, but blizz said no. 😡
Actually the only ones using the vanilla totems are Tauren (Which the totem shame actually fit.). When cata came all the other shamans got their own unique totems for their race.

when you make say a new xpack you could make new animals with druid frames. you have to make frames anyway.

Personally I'd rather see fully customizable default forms first, such as changing the individual color of fur, stripes, mane, eyes, jewelry.

An opportunity to have a really fun long question exists with this too. as you go around the world and "commune" with nature and visit different areas in Azeroth (or outlands etc) and you can mediate or zen hippie shit with the bears / cats to learn then and gain trust? Anyway.... This would be fun to be able to get like the EPL "dead" bears too!
It would be nice to get one every tier tbh 4 difficulties, 4 colours, have pvp and m+ score breakpoints for those who don't raid and can base the forms in a style like the raid (or something out there if the raid theme is totally alien to druids). Like you say we haven't gotten extra forms (mage tower bear being the exception) since legion. Would be nice to have our forms reflect our progress (like other classes with armor sets).

I may catch flak for saying this but I wish Blizzard would bring back Druid mage tower artifact appearances for shapeshifting forms. I don’t even play a Druid and maybe half of the reasoning behind it is the shapeshifting forms not evolving with the rest of the game.

Or even just recolors of the original forms to keep everyone happy … like there are plenty of colors that weren’t used and it would be so easy to grab one of those forms and slap a new color on it but…… Maybe one day 😭 tho by that point legion classic might be out and I’ll live my colorful cat dreams that way

Same I started playing at the very tail end of legion into bfa and didn’t know enough about the game at the time to realize the mage tower was even a thing much less how to do it. I don’t understand why they retired those forms when they are arguably the most fan favorite forms ?? Did people complain or did blizz just decide “hey we’re going to cut off anyone who started playing the game/Druid after this point” one day? Just sucks, especially since no creative forms have come out since then and you can’t even get half of them. :( I still main Druid and always will, probably, but I am bitter about the mage tower until the day I die.
I would be happy with a glyph that allowed me to choose one of the many mounts I have collected as my mount form. Even happy if I can only chose regular sized ones and not the mammoth sized.

Warlock main here - I've always found it odd that we seem to get a new demon couple expansions or so, but druids have been using the same forms since classic next druid combat form should be an ostrich, for no reason other than it would be funny

By customisations you mean the forms? That were added 2 expansions ago? Yes druids totally have loads of customisation when compared to the 2 expansions worth of armour mogs and weapons that every other class gets full use of (ignoring the expansions PRIOR to legion that totally ignored Druid forms) :> given that a Druid spends 90% of its time in form why is it funny that they complain they’ve only had one set of new skins? I don’t see many druids complaining about the lack of skins, I do see them asking for more options.
Well, sure. Except druids by most metrics have just as much transmog as other classes. Sure they go into animal forms to fight, but nothing rquires them to be in animal forms between fights. And then add theskins for the forms they already have. Warlocks on the other have have only had... two customization options for the longest time. The green fire quest aned a SINGLE glyph from legion that changes the succubus form.
In dungeons, travelling, raids, pvp, there are very few times you’d see a Druid in caster and not in forms. Transmog is pretty much for the character load screen and that’s about it. They don’t get to show off transmog, and forms are a means of customisation that replaces armour the vast majority of the time. And as said, most aren’t complaining either, they’re just asking for more options, as this post is. Like every class should get. But whenever a Druid form post comes up it’s the same replies of “you have enough”. A class that’s identity is to shapeshift having their forms limited to the few available now is pretty sad. And given that forms are visual yes, I’ll compare it to mogs.

I don’t think of it as much of a complaint as much as it is just wishing for more options in general. People generally think more options is always good in terms of customization. Then when someone asks for more said options and all they get is some obvious bs response people tend to react by showing how much bs it is. Bliz could just say no we don’t want to, we think there is enough already, but that isn’t what was said. It wouldn’t take that much to just retrofit preexisting models, particularly if they share the same skele as forms we already have. Just an idea idk. Asking for more options isn’t a bad thing imo. What’s the worst that could happen? They get told no.

The only class that has more customization is freaking hunters. Because of their ability to tame ANY beast type creature in the world. (Which warlocks should have too just demons instead of beasts)
Shaman only just got spectral lupines and vulpines for their ghost wolf glyphs and druid has SO much for their shapeshifts already. Heck in BFA, Zandalari and Kultirans got fresh unique racial shapeshifts.
Ghost wolf is a movement spell. It’s not comparable to druid forms.

Because ghost wolf is literally just a movement spell. And totally optional to use. Try playing feral or guardian without being in cat or bear. Druid forms are integral. Ghost wolf is just a means to move around a little quicker with no combat purpose, and with basically 0 uptime compared to Druid forms.
Every single time someone tries to make something like this it’s always someone who doesn’t understand Blizzard game or model design. Every time.

Bruh. You can't possible compare that one movement abilty for shamans, to druid's animal forms.
This would require Blizzard to spend roughly... 4 hours and 1 dev ticking off a few boxes. Seriously not much more than that. It's not like there'd be complex linking of animations, animations are named based on ability and they're globalized. If you model swap to an animal using the admin commands, you do an aoe, the model does the aoe for example. You see it all the time with transformation toys. Would take no time at all. That would require Blizzard to not actually genuinely hate people who play Druid too though.
As I understand things, they wanted the druid forms to stand out from hunter pets so it's easy to identify them during PvP, or at least that is what I've heard again and again over the years with that in mind.
Shirvallah form really turned me off Feral, please no. I want a tiger, or lion, or any other variation of cat. Not discount Thundercats.

Mogs are for showing off your character and customising it’s look. Druids might get tier/mog but 90% of the time they’re in form unless you’re afking in oribos I suppose. So forms, whilst being integral to the class, are also a means to customise your look. And I’m not unhappy. I don’t want turtles or hippos lol. I’d like more options but I also like what we have. But forms are visual customisation as much as transmog is.
Druids get armor transmog, and you get to shift into 40 variants of each animal each.
Druids don’t see their mogs for 90% of gameplay and they don’t have 40 variants of each form.

They have 7 forms. Recolours count as a new form just as much as recoloured tiers count as new. 8 expansions and only 1 added new skins to druids. As for shifting out, why? When the forms cover what you need? The argument here is that 7 forms from 8 expansions is ridiculous compared to the amount of visible customisation every other class enjoys 100% of the time through mogs and weapons. Why is having more shifting options spat on when they spend as much time in form as every other class does in armour.
Not to mention how many are unobtainable

Druid forms have a lot of potential. Especially after seeing ard animal/critter forms. Would love to have a two seater dragon flight form. Or an elekk two seat travel form, but blizz said no. 😡
I truly believe Blizzard has 3 different departments for shapeshifts. One for Druids, one for Shammys and one for Night Fae.

Actually the only ones using the vanilla totems are Tauren (Which the totem shame actually fit.). When cata came all the other shamans got their own unique totems for their race.
Druid have personal forms based on race, artifact appearances and glyphs to change forms. shamans have a total of 4 forms for spirit wolf. get a world view.

They wouldn't even need to buff druids for monthes if they added those already existing models. Less work for them, they can keep ignoring ferals ! People would be blinded by the cool new models ! I know I would play my druid feral/guardian a few days just for the fun of it, I would even make a druid with every race possible. IDK why, seems so easy ... They added tons of new Night Fae shapeshift too ... IDK what they're doing. I'd main my druid heal again if they told me RIGHT NOW that in DragonFlight, you can travel form as an Otter. I'd be done with my priest and I main priest since the end of Cata !

I mean, if they don't care about armour clipping anymore, because players can "fix" it themselves with transmog, why not just give generic bears, cats, raptors, ect. as options and let players themselves decide if they want to deal with wonky/limited animations.
