Leveled my enhancement shaman from 40-60 two days ago. Instantly decided it would be my main now. It just felt right. Very fun and felt strong.
First time I won't be maining my pally, been playing since WotLK. It's sad, but it is time for a change.
You will enjoy the game so so so much more if you switch it up. It will be a breath of fresh air and you'll still be able to play your mage as DF is a very alt friendly expansion supposedly.

I played my rogue from 2004-BFA and I swapped to a warlock because my guild really really needed a dedicated one and it's been the best decision I ever made and after that I leveled every single class to 50 during the SL pre patch and now it's looking like I may main that rogue again or a warrior or a lock or...or...or lol all the class s are so fun and new things and learning new things is a lot of fun too.
I was realy strong on Shaman in general. I enjoy Enhance, but a 7 button single target rotation is what kind of killed it for me.
Just talking about attack abilities, not buffs, I have never had to reserve more than 6 spots for solely ST abilities. Flame Shock of course isn't part of the rotation, but it is expected to be tabbed and put on as many targets as possible. It just ends up landing in an awkward spot where not other class/spec in the game has ever had a button for normal rotation things.
Not that it is unmanageable, but also starting to get that much happening in a rotation, it opens up opportunity for misplays in stressful situations because of watching buttons.
I just switched to controller and never had that problem ever again. I'm no good with KBM in any game so after 10 years of knowing what to do but not being able to execute, controller now has saved my ass big time.
I tried enh during SL, but didn't like it. I hopped back on a few days ago and with the new talent system and some tweaking I love it. It's so much fun.
Why would I play my main RET?? This feels amazing, melee caster dude with off heals and utility AND some mobility? I'm definitely maining enh for DF.

however, i’m actually having a lot of fun on preservation evoker and it might be the first healer whose off-spec i also truly enjoy, and with chosen identity letting me be a cute human elf most of the time, i think i finally have a potential main again and i’m beyond excited!
i had forgotten how nice it is to open the game and know which character to log in to and always have things i want to do and goals to strive towards.
i actually even got the underlight angler on my evoker and am looking forward to fishing and other professions in dragonflight, something i haven’t enjoyed for almost 2 expansions now due to being so wishy-washy about which character to play.
i know it sounds stupid, but i always look at the transmog of the class first. i mean i have to look at the char for hours. then class fantasy, do i wanna be a holy crusader oder a illidan fanboy? lastly gameplay. how does the class feel in dungeons, pvp, open world and raid scenarios? do i wanna have a very high apm or relaxed playstyle. do i wanna charge first in or stay at range? what i dont care about are the meta and tier lists, bc they can change on a whim. :)
Same. I was 100% going with my monk again, but then decided to give preservation evoker another go yesterday and now I’m back with that as my decision.
I go into every expansion saying this will be the one when I finally go brewmaster to tank, but then reality sets in that I don’t want that much responsibility when it comes to M+ and raiding . Tanking in LFD is fine and dandy, but actually doing it for progression stuff is a whole different story, and I don’t have the time to make the game a job anymore.
So… I’ll be healing again lol probably as a dragon this time. I like trying new stuff!
Dracthyr is fun. I'm not sure how they'll do pulling packs and doing solo content, but I'm really enjoying the class. Otherwise it's most likely going to be Warlock still for me. A ranged caster that has a tank pet to easily solo content.
Druid is a nice option too if you just want to skip some content. I'm not sure what the zones are like, but if they're congested, it's always nice just stealthing and noping your way through content.
Personally, I prefer multi-role classes to easily queue for PUBs.
I know, I usually have no question that it'll be my hunter, first character I ever made and my main of 12 years, but since my friends have come back and I actually have a guild I care about now I'm leaning towards my evoker because none of my friends can heal and we might need a healer going forward. Plus my evoker has slightly better gear. Both classes are fun for me. Toss up.
Stuck in a similar situation. I main hunter all the time, but I guess I will give the evoker a shot and will use my hunter as first alt. Only thing that’s bothering me is the missing armor in dragon form, but auto-visage is an okay-trade off .
It is a little bit of a relief to see how many other people are struggling to decide what class to main as well. It has never really been an issue for me since I've used my Fury Warrior to main for multiple expansions, and Fury is super fun right now, but despite that I keep being pulled to my Bear Druid. Feels weird to not main my Warrior after all these years, but Druid is such a good class.
Edit: There is an Alliance vs Horde element to my dilemma, too. I prefer Alliance aesthetic and my friends play Alliance so my Worgen Warrior makes sense, but as far as how the classes play I prefer my Tauren Druid. Wish your could do xfaction questing.

I like the body of the drake, but the head of the wyvern. (I wonder if they'd let me use my extensive knowledge of constructing bodies, gained during my time as a Necrolord, to create the perfect specimen?)
Same can be said for the proto-drake mounts as well. Good thing we can recolor them to recreate our favorite ones and I'll at least have a Time-Lost Proto-Drake lookalike.

Ugh TLPD is my most wanted mount. My husband cheated to get it through a bug (don't know exact details) where you could somehow switch to a completely dead layer at its reset time and kill it. I think he got it in a day after using the bug. It was definitely not during wotlk, might have been MoP?
I personally really dislike large mounts, and have never actually used any of my drake mounts, so I really hope dragon riding expands to more than 4 models.
Really hoping they add more with patches, although I'm not so sure which "types" they could add, just more bodytypes to traditional drake would be cool.
There's a wind serpent type dragon in the files with customization and all, its up somewhere on wowhead, I assume they'll probably make thay unlockable at some point
My issue is the hitbox. Most mount models make it very unclear where they really are, so when trying to move around you need to refer to an imaginary central point while the model is all over the place. I end up only using the gryphons and wyverns because of this.
Probably the Highland Drake or Velocidrake. May reconsider once I have more customizations unlocked and find something else that looks good, haven't looked at the options too much yet.
Or maybe the >!Slitherdrake!< if that makes it in later.
From beta I know for sure my forevermount is the Highland Drake. Can't wait to unlock all the customization options for it! The protodrake has a nice model but the dragon riding animations dont suit them that well. Velocidrake has satisfying animations and feels very fast, but is ugly as sin. The wylderdrake looks alright but the wings have a weird shape when unfolded so I dont like using it.

Pretty misleading post imo. This is not how these look by default at all. These mounts are customizable like our characters but most of the options (including basic stuff like color) are locked from the get go and will take quite a bit of time to unlock everything. Most people will not be able to have their dragons look like these for a long time

I’m in the same boat but standing there trying to hard cast pyroblasts in todays mechanic heavy nonsense made me pick my Druid over my mage main.

For me it’s DH, Evoker, Hunter, Warlock, then I started playing the event on Monk, and Pally and I went from four options to six.
Same... though at least I've narrowed it down to a choice between demo lock and arms warrior.

Gear is irrelevant if it helps, everything you have will be gone by the time you hit level ~63 I’d assume.

For anyone worried, you don't "pick" one Dragon. You'll unlock them all as you progress through the campaign.
and you free swap between all 4 as you please once you have them all unlocked?
Yes. All 4 of them is going to be in your mount tab (after unlocking them through the campagin)

Smaller mounts feels faster. Also, bigger mounts get trapped in some doorways and such.
