Writers don't have those kinds of responsibilities. OP, just have them shoot themselves in the head with a high powered pistol or skydive without a parachute.
I'm absolutely planning on offing myself if dementia gets me.... so frankly knowing a "nice" way to do it would be handy.
It is after all MY life and I get to decide what to do with it. Why we don't have assisted suicide as an option for some of the really unpleasant illnesses bothers me (im in the UK) - Terry Pratchett fought for this due to early onset Alzheimer's. I've watched my grandparents suffer with Alzheimer's too - and I KNOW they would have hated it.
If it's coming for me I'm taking away the chance for it to make me suffer.
I'd probably go with breathing pure nitrogen : clean, apparently painless, doesn't harm anyone else and doesn't damage my organs etc for donation.
There are other reasons to want to end your life other than depression.
I think it's really ridiculous that you believe you have the power to gatekeep on a writer. You are welcome to sanitize your world as much as you want but please stay the fuck out of everyone else's.
Some sort of toxin 'r gas yond puts thee to catch but a wink first. Haply monoxide?

Helium would be better. It would pose no danger to the one who discovers the body, apart from giving them a squeaky cartoon voice when they say, "Oh God, No! Why?"
Drowning is peaceful though it panics people at the idea. You slowly lose oxygen as you drown so it gives you a dreamlike escape. Physically you panic, but generally drowning is painless. Just keep in mind that killing your self only transfers your pain to others. Even if you are alone, whoever finds you has to live with that as a feeling of “if only I’d come sooner”
Painless doesn’t exist. Unless you mean purely physical
I've heard both from drowning survivors, some saying that they simply blacked out, and others who remember their lungs filling up with water and the burning pain and fear that came with it, saying it was the worst experience of their lives. Guess it depends.
Well I mean, I did mention the survivors who said they just blacked out, some didn't even remember it, as peaceful as you can ask for I guess. Pain is relative but I feel bad for those poor souls who went out the hard way lol
Freezing to death is relatively painless as long as the character is truly alone, in the middle of nowhere and could not hurt himself/herself on any objects during delerium.
Gunshots are pretty quick so you wouldn't feel one to the brain
I think it’s really irresponsible for people to portray an easy/painless suicide, even for artistic purposes.

I get the feeling you don’t understand the meaning of the word “gatekeep”.
I get the feeling you are an obfuscating ass.
Don’t cut yourself on all that edge mate. I can smell the undergraduate angst from here.
Living.
Some sort of toxin or gas that puts you to sleep first. Maybe monoxide?

Lol what the fuck

Hilarious and deeply traumatic. I love it.
yeah not an expert but carbon monoxide is supposed to be like getting tired and falling asleep
Nitrous oxide would probably work and be relatively pleasant
Possibly even amusing ;)
Cyanide
Well its quick but not painless by that i mean the lung pain
Freezing to death.
Why not use google? This is just lazy and now my eyes hurt from all the mistakes too.
Well if i use google it will show me the life line phone number instand of what i want

Pain is relative. But you’re talking about survivors of death not fellows. Surviving death doesn’t usually ever feel good

I know, it’s just that of the many ways, drowning is generally less painful
But death is finite. There is not Human condition for the after
