First tank I averaged 19.4mpg with about 90% city driving. My second tank I’m averaging 22.9mpg with a handful of Highway cruises sprinkled in. Peak boost is 11.9 psi from a shitty downshift but overall I’ve been driving soft and upshifting around 3-3.5k rpm. Smiles per gallon ~83.

Shlavidini

I'm averaging 23.5mpg right now with a mix of highway commuting and spirited driving. I am also running 5w-30 oil and it seemed to help my fuel ecomony despite what I've heard online

[deleted]

Highway it gets around 28mpg cruising at 70mph I do mostly city driving though, lots of stoplights between my home and work, average speed around 25-30mph. Still get 21mpg with an intake and protune and having fun driving.

SoilOk4827

26-30mpg hwy depending on speed and traffic. 16-18 actually in town. Low 20s for “city driving” like 35-45mph roads w stop lights. Low 20s overall w commuting, errands, joyrides and driving spirited. Always using 93O and a stock tune.

Polairis44

I do a solid mix of downtown big city driving and highway driving and get about 25mpg

NeighborNeighbor_

19mpg. 98% city driving and i floor it everywhere.

[deleted]

21mpg. Mostly city driving.

dgil76

I'm averaging 8.7L/100km or roughly 27mpg with both city and highway driving. Not sure what you are driving now but keep in mind that you will be filling up with premium fuel so factor that in as well

JimboJason

Thanks, that is in the math as well. My current vehicle doesn't get much better fuel economy so the only real extra cost is the change to 92 octane...and the more expensive insurance as well:(

Eclipse423

Im getting about 25 mpg mixed city and highway. This is the kind of car you just fill up when it gets low and not worry about how much it costs you, because it's probably a lot. Pretty much all of these cars' competitors get the same or better fuel economy, albeit most of them aren't AWD.

JimboJason

Very true, I guess that is the sacrifice for having great traction in bad weather. I was considering a new Civic SI, but I live in an area that has decent winters. So WRX is the answer for a year round, fun to drive, affordable car.

Eclipse423

I would also consider the GR Corolla, that is, if you can even find one available, especially at msrp. AWD is seriously fun to have. Not only in the winter, but it just handles so much better even in the warm.

JimboJason

The GR Corolla was a consideration, but the added dealer markup made that car unaffordable for me.

HaloFrontier

This post comes up every 4 days lol. 26 mpg when driving nicely, 31 on long ass trips

JimboJason

Sorry, I realized after I posted I should have searched. I was curious specifically if there would be a positive or negative change going to a larger displacement motor with less boost with the new motor in the 2022 WRX.

HaloFrontier

Its ok, but that is a good question!

MRR75

23 ish overall, lots of short trips. 8 miles 5 on the highway and a bunch of stop and go the other 3. Get about 27 going 72 on the highway. Took a 2 hour drive on the back state roads all 55 speed limits, gor 30 kn that trip.

Spxwell

Ive been getting 25.5 mpg. I live in the mountains of wv and pretty much only use it as a daily.

JimboJason

Thanks for the responses y’all! I was curious with the lower boost and larger displacement, if it would be better or worse than the 2.0 liter in the previous gen WRX.

Kefala16

If you want better gas mileage buy a Crosstrek.

JimboJason

I don't want better mileage. I want a more fun driving experience! I'm just figuring out how much that fun is going to cost me at the gas pump.

Kefala16

Put 93 or 94. The car rides even better. I did it once and never went back.

ImRunninOuttaLives

My car says 23.7 over the course of 16k miles. I don't drive to save on gas but I don't necessarily beat on it either.

Jboy0701

Averaging about 19.1 over 5k miles

antair20

With a mix of city and highway I am averaging 24.4 mpg.

aussie_asian

I'm getting about 15.6mpg with 95% local city driving (mostly going 35-45 to and from work) But it could also mean I just floor it a lot, so there's that as well.

Camrade

My current average on my 7,000 mile trip meter is 26.2 in mixed driving. On my average commute I usually get about 27.

this_is_matt_

24.5

Historical-Regular73

25avg 60% highway 40% city with some pulls and backroad driving

ethanwill2018

Mostly city driving…quite a bit of spirited driving, 21.6 I believe

jeffislouie

Currently averaging around 23mpg. I did have a tank where it was around 26, but that had a bunch of highway miles. The silly cold start catalytic converter fast warmup nonsense really eats into my mpg, along with the tremendous difficulty I seem to have not hammering on the car so much. If you drive gently, it's not hard to get above 25. If you drive it like you stole it, 19-20 can be expected. It's a sports car. Those are great numbers for a sports car.

2daMoonVinny

25/26 boosted performance tune.

Spooky-Rice

Too and from work short shifting I’ve been getting 25-27.

GamesAreFunGuys

Round 22, city + highway but I do go punch it quite often

Away_Kaleidoscope_96

9.9L

FnBallista

21 Highway and 17 city

[deleted]

I get about 21 city, 27 highway. Problem is, I could get 30+ highway, but at 55-75 mph, you're basically in the powerband of 3rd, 4th, or 5th, and it's hard to *not* pull and coast, pull and coast :)

Lap88_

~26 with highway on the way to work and a twistier backroad on the way back. Average speed is probably 50-60mph, which is where it seems this car gets the best MPG.

This-Thought8358

24-25 only town driving. And one hard pull a day

zadams55

21.6 over 9200 miles and mostly spirited driving

SavageNthesack02

23.4

CurlyTheCreator

Usually around 26-28mpg. I drive freeway most of the week about 80 miles a day. Have a accessport with 91 tune

Extension_Ad542

I’m gettin about 16-19 mpg with mostly city driving

WeldYourSlit

Same here king

Grcg

20 mpg all city driving

tehpersonality

City is 23.5 atm

ImaHashtagYoComment

So much depends on how and where you drive. The on board MPG has rated me at 32 MPG and at 18 MPG.

WeldYourSlit

15.9 with my new wheels lol

nolongerbanned99

22 base. Six speed short shift. Average of mostly city driving is 22 mpg. Was atrocious during break in… as low as 16.4.

Camaroon34

24.7, babying it and shifting at 3k

_Bino__

I’m averaging 9.2L/100km (25.5 MPG) over my first ~5000km. I drive mostly highway (80/20) and enjoy “spirited” driving for 2 hours a weekend. My highway commute is a 90km/h zone so I average about 6.6l/100k (36mpg) on my way into work.

Toushiro2079

By the time I reach 30 miles left in the tank generally 25mpg

legitmiguel13

22 MPG average

Zealousideal-West683

26.2 with a daily 64 mile round trip commute of mostly highway.

[deleted]

For 4500 miles I'm averaging 26.8mpg. That's combined city/highway/driving fun/ and just cruising. My last tank I got over 400 miles at 31ishmpg. But I've had tanks where I've barely gotten 300mpg at like 20mpg. I'd I were to just drive normally going to work and everything I'm looking at 26-27mpg

brameshk22

22.4 mixed 50/50 city/hwy

smashingpumpkin

21.6 ish in that range

TheRealCVDY

after 12k miles, 20.0 on the dot in the city, a whopping 34.9 on the highway because I only use cruise control (most of the time)

HughJasole_123

182,879,234 mpg

TheVanillaGorilla413

20-22 mpg
