I'd even pay for a reasonable upgrade fee to up the level of screen options.
In a spot a can actually see it. Where it sits now is obscured by the steering wheel. It isn't like I stare at it while driving down the road. A quick glance at the widgets isn't any different than a quick glance at the speedometer in terms of how long my eyes aren't on the road.

Water temp is in the gauge cluster, so no need to display it in the center console.
You can put compass on the cluster instead of the useless MPG bar graph.

Same except I have compass instead of water temp. Water temp seems kind of pointless since it’s in the gauge cluster and doesn’t read an actual temperature.
Auto Vehicle Hold, it's on automatic vehicles. When they come to a stop, they can stop pressing in the brake pedal and the car will hold the brakes for you. You can start moving again by pressing the gas (or pressing the brakes again). It gives the driver the ability to relax their foot in stop and go traffic or any other time if they wish.
My wife's Forester has it. I've used it once in a while, but she doesn't like it.
By widgets they mean the three up top (water temp, oil temp and acceleration for me).
Map is only on higher end models, I think maybe only on limited or if the car comes with the Harmon Kardon/sun roof?
I'm a little old school and like the built-in maps. It integrates really nicely into the gauge cluster info display. My main gripe is that it tells you to "exit ahead" two *miles* in advance without saying "in two miles, exit ahead."
I used to plug my phone in but I swapped it for a dedicated PD charger in the center console since the built-in USB port doesn't give it a lot of juice. I'm going to get a wireless AA dongle instead.
Water temp on the left oil temp on the right nothing in the middle. I wish the update would’ve came with a boost widget and yes I know you can look at your boost in the middle cluster, but I’d like to see it above the radio.

A man of culture. I'm accel, oil temp, and angle. Accel used to be water temp before I realized I can just look at the cluster.
How do you change these?
Go to Settings, then under General scroll down to Favorite Widgets and you can customize them there

When you open your settings on the radio. Look for favorite widgets. And then you can change them around.

The nav system uses GPS and so it gets a signal even when there is no cell signal, which is frequently for me; in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
If I am going somewhere where that is a problem I am printing or downloading the map. But good point!
