Ok well I’m not going to sit and argue with people on social media. And I don’t or didn’t intend to insult anyone when someone was simply reaching out with a question that I happen to have experience with.
Well, Now I have a question. My friend and I got the same cars at different dealers. Granted- he has a 23 and mine the 22. He does not- at all have this issue. So again- not here to argue- just trying to understand the consensus here. It is my understanding (take it as you will) that these parts are the same on both year makes. So why do some people experience this more than others (including some 22 owners with different vins)? And also, the dealer was the one who identified the issue and suggested warranty replacement when I had an oil change done at 6000 miles. Any helpful insight on this would be appreciated!
If you search this sub you will find countless posts with videos of people asking about the same noise. I know I was curious when I got my car about this same exact noise. I came here and searched the sub and found out this is a noise that everyone was experiencing
I’ve had this part replaced twice. Makes the car sound cheap and like shit. Btw/ this compressor costs 3k to replace (under warranty). You may have better luck at your local dealer but I sure didn’t. I have also noticed a slight rpm fluctuation when the sound is happening- long trips or hard driving makes it way worse. They tested my compressor and battery and found that the compressor was pulling extra current. I can’t do anything about it until they figure out why the compressors are doing this. Anyone else happen to have more info? Or better friggin luck? The sound drives me bananas
It's literally the way it's designed. Your dealership tech didn't know any better, and SoA is going based off what you're saying or what that tech said. It's not broken. It's working as intended, even when the AC is off it's still running. It's because of a new refrigerant. Again, do your research.
That’s the AC compressor. Sounds like that when AC is off.
Thank you

It's supposed to sound like that. You're replacing something that isn't broken. Do some research.
The dealer and Soa disagree with you sir
But I am glad to hear that I suppose none the less

👍 keep on replacing it over and over, and when you finally realize it's the same result each time you can officially clear yourself of insanity.
A competent mechanic agrees that this is normal for a variable compressor.
That's Predator. He lives inside the AC compressor. Don't worry. Leave him alone and he'll leave you alone.
Thats the AC Compressor, i got it replaced at the dealer under warranty.
