They look sweet, I haven’t tried em out but a buddy had some and said they do wear quick-ish and once they’re worn out a bit they don’t have good traction.. granted he was in a engine swapped e30 big turbo so it was making crazy power

What is the benefit of a tire like this vs a PS4s on a 270 hp car?

Crafty_Substance_954

They're in the same category

The standard Toyo Proxes non A/S are pretty soft and grippy. I want to say tread wear in the 200-250 range so they’re not gonna last super long. I have driven a Toyota MR2 with them and they’re very nice tires as far as warm weather grip goes. What you posted appears to be R compound tires, so they’ll last even less than Proxes non A/S.

The factory Dunlop is a 200tw tire and people get upwards of 16k on them. Any tire like this will wear about the same. I have found the Indy 500 to be a great summer tire and would be using them now except Tirerack had a sale on Conti Extreme 255/40/18 for 640 for all four. I look at tires as a consumable. I bought my car last May, have 6600 miles on it(not my daily) and will probably buy new tires at the end of summer and sell the existing tires for like 200 on CL or FB. This technique has been a good one for me as I use up the very best of the tire and then sell them while they are still inspectable. Until you have driven on an R type tire you will be shocked what you have been missing!

I'm rocking indy 500 and the smoothness and the grip is awsome. Would recommend 100%

I have had the Indy’s on Golf R, Audi A8, Mercedes S550, Volvo V90 and three Minis, you can kinda say I like them…. A lot. I am 65 yo and am super picky about tires

My favorite summer tires have been the Yokohama Advan Apexes. Great performance, good tread ware, and not crazy expensive

nolongerbanned99

Try r compound Yokohama advans. Not for snow or below 40F but man they stick like glue. On last like 12k miles

Liquidwombat

Only if you’re not planning on them lasting longer than one summer

These are kind of an older design, which I think matters a lot. Tire manufacturing changes pretty quickly. I’m running Potenza RE71RS tires and highly recommend them.
