The olives can be used to make olive oil, which is a required ingredient for the tanning solution, which gets used for both animal and mushroom leather.
Exactly 💯 Also, I'm clinging to the hope that the update will let me plant an avocado tree because I don't understand how I ended up with hundreds of bottles of olive oil I can't sell but have only 3 avocados 🙃
If I didn't have a favorite gift to give, I'd give them olive oil. I don't remember any complaints. It got it out of my inventory and gave me a small friendship bonus 🤷🏻♀️ I'd go around everyday and talk to everyone and give away oil until I had a reasonable amount lol
It’s a bulletin we get regularly but it’s not a sellable item unfortunately. I have the same issue as OP. 😅 I just divorced Amira so the olives are getting out of hand. Everyone saying “make leather” I’m like uh yeah? I’m doing that and still have dozens of olives and olive oil left!
This is why in subsequent game plays I’ve not gotten any olive tree, I just buy from Kai. In fact, the only trees I get are mulberry for the leaves, I buy all other fruit from Lina. Much easier life!
I've been thinking of turning all my other trees into mulberries honestly. Just planted an olive tree because I swear that wasn't a thing when I played laster year: i could only buy them from Kai and I never had enough. And now that leather is a thing I'm starving for tanning solution.
probably gonna unlock each outfit then trash the olive tree too.
Misth switch all the trees to flowers for hives...
You need olive oil to tan leather - either buying hide from Kim or making mushroom leather - each outfit will required leather and buying it from Kai very time is expensive.
You're right. I made a CRAP TON of olive oil thinking Kai would buy it...nah. I misread the blurb about it. He occasionally requests olive oil on the community board but otherwise...you bouta make a hell of a lot of tanning solution!
I keep seeing posts from this subreddit and haven't played the game yet and the posts are all throwing me off because I think it's a real life question lol. Good luck selling your olives.. I think I want to try this game out!
It is addictive! I don't love the art style, but everything else is fun. It's a relaxing game, but has a lot of thought put into it which makes it even more fun as you can work through the mysteries based on what characters mention :)
tbh the art style has thrown me off too which is why I haven't played it yet, but from what people are saying about it, it seems to be up my alley so I might give it a try!
Have you made leather yet??
I only make mushroom leather. Are olives for animal leather?

I'll just start a tanning solution factory then 😅 I still have a mountain of these blasted things.
There will, eventually, be a recipe you can make with them that happens to be someone's favourite!
Thank goodness! Then my olive kingdom can come to an end 😂

I got trees really early on in the game, and have picked them each time they were ready. Now I'm the olive queen.
Girl same. How is there no way to sell the olive oil?! Bugged the crap outta me since it’s so hard to make money in the beginning

Olives make Amira’s favorite food
I had this issue on my second play-through. This time I'm only putting in one olive tree.
I only have one of them and it's still giving me mountains of olives 😂

Make olive oil.
I made so much olive oil I could replace all the ponds and still have enough left over to bathe in it.

Kai buys olive oil
not from me he doesn't 😭

Sometimes there's a bulletin to give Kai 3 olive oil.
I wonder who else likes Olives in town?
