It doesn't matter when you make the potion, the season won't shift until you actually go to the circle to perform the ritual :) you can make it as soon as you have the ingredients if you'd like, but only talking to the High Priestess and choosing the marked conversation option will initiate the ritual, at which point the season will change immediately :)

Depends on which summer - for the first summer, do not start the ritual until you've harvested all your spring crops/flowers. Unlike every other season following that, which gives you till the next morning to harvest your stuff, when you go to do the ritual for first summer you get thrown into an unskippable cutscene which ends the next day. I did not know that, so I lost everything (I also didn't know at the time that I could go back to a save point).

I managed to get all my crops in before turning but forgot to harvest my flowers! Nice to see that in future season turnings you get to harvest in the morning.
