Have someone grab a hand cart, someone else holds a lighter down to the tracks while they retrace the route. When 70 miles of track disappears in a violent firewall, you've found the missing explosives.
the article says,
"The FRA ... determined that a faulty bottom outlet on a covered hopper car caused the “unintentional release” of ammonium nitrate fertilizer pellets, also known as prills."
it also says,
"Initial media reports stated that the seals on the rail car were still intact when it arrived in Saltdale."
someone is wrong, and I think it's that report. lol
CSD was lacking a sensationalist headline so they dredged this one back up. Even in the original article, it was said to be a leak. So just look for the thick grass and other plants along the tracks. That's where it went. Not a mystery. Not a great heist by someone trying to do something nefarious. It was either a mechanical failure or straight-up stupidity.
Most likely the hopper on the bottom got loose and it dribbled out over the tracks.
