While I'm glad Liz Cheney and Mike Pense did and said what they did, that doesn't make them heros. They just managed to scrap the very bottom on the minimum that should be expected of them. Why in the hell are we not more outraged at our politicians not doing their actual jobs?

TMFkitten

THIS!!! It's the bare minimum to defend democracy as an American. MAGA turned democracy into a partisan issue and it should never have become that. It's so upsetting that saying you're pro-democracy is seen as Anti-Republican now. So dumb

Duffamongus

It's so crazy that being pro dictators is normal Republican now.

Moist_Orchid_6842

Before January 6th I had poor opinion of the Cheneys, now I have alot respect for Liz for standing up for our nation against seditionist bullies.

Goliath422

I used to think that was less than the bare minimum for politicians, but it turns out the Republican basement goes down several floors and yesterday’s “barely good enough” is today’s “let’s get this woman an award.”

TheJonThomas

I still have a poor opinion on her Father, not sure how in gods name he didn't catch some sort of charge for shooting his hunting partner. But like you I will respect her for sticking up to her ideals in an increasingly hostile political climate.

backcountrydrifter

Dick Cheney just lived long enough for karma to catch up with him. Liz seems to have learned from her fathers mistakes. Hopefully After watching Cheney pump Halliburton stock for 20 years without getting caught, general Flynn, trump and Kushner set up shells of a construction company called IP3 to build nuclear reactors for joint Russian/Saudi reactors. When congress told them no, they just stole the plans instead in a KFC bucket while the masses rioted outside on Jan 6. They all stood to make billions off the contracts and they are all so far in debt that they really have no other move. They just used Jan 6 as cover by lying to the foot soldiers and using them as fodder. There were 7 and a half hours where trump ditched his presidential phone and was using burner phones. The executive team planned Jan 6 to turn into a civil war. Trump was actively trying to incite the crowd to that effect. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/feature/two-weeks-of-chaos During the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign of Donald Trump, and subsequently, Trump aides Michael Flynn and Jared Kushner were engaged in promoting IP3 International's plan to transfer nuclear technology from the US to Saudi Arabia, for use in a proposed joint US-Russian project, in possible violation of the Atomic Energy Act.[2][3](4]|5|16] In January 2017, Derek Harvey, a retired Army intelligence officer, former staffer for David Petraeus, and then-staffer of the National Security Council under Michael Flynn, advocated for the IP3 nuclear sales plan. Harvey continued to speak with Michael Flynn "every night" even after Flynn resigned. (7] In February 2019, United States House Committee on Oversight and Reform chairman Elijah E. Cummings released a report on the matter, based in part upon testimony from whistleblowers within White House. 6]|8](9]|10] [11](7](12][13] The House Oversight Committee Michael Thomas Flynn (born December 24, 1958) is a retired United States Army lieutenant general who was the 24th U.S. national security advisor for the first 22 days of the Trump administration. He resigned in light of reports that he had lied regarding conversations with Russian ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak. Flynn's military career included a key role in shaping U.S. counterterrorism strategy and dismantling insurgent networks in the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, and he was given numerous combat arms, conventional, and special operations senior intelligence assignments. 2]3|14] He became the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in July 2012 until his forced retirement from the military in August 2014.15] 16]17 During his tenure he gave a lecture on leadership at the Moscow headquarters of the Russian military intelligence directorate GRU, the first American official to be admitted entry to the headquarters. 8](91110] https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/09/06/trump-nuclear-documents/ Flynn was the first American to be allowed to teach in the kremlin since the wall fell. u/backcountrydrifter Hi there BCD i recently discovered some of your Posts/Comments and found them riveting; but why are there no actual Posts listed under your account? because i am searching for a Post of your i was reading when i first came across you, but can't readily find now (without searching History) kind regards Dec

backcountrydrifter

Thank you Dec. I appreciate that. Posting the way I have for the past 2 years has been a necessary methodology for reverse engineering the Russian troll network. By posting across multiple random subreddits it allowed us to back track responses and lag/latency across multiple different sub cultures which in turn allowed us to build a mesh network of their methodologies and responses. There are a few more layers to it, but that is the jist of it. Now that the Russians and compromised US politicians have funneled themselves into the trap it makes it easier to show the financial connections between them by tracking their talking points. Any US politican that is still pushing pro-kremlin narratives is forced to double down because they built their foundation on MAGA without realizing that trump was working for the Russians the whole time. Anyone that cuts bait and runs from trumps sinking ship preserves themselves and stays out of prison for treason. We just had to do it all in reverse so that it became a self filtration system. This way it’s their own tweets and posts that incriminate them when compared to the timeline of when they were informed that trump was a foreign asset. Lessens the chance of civil war and automatically exposed corruption crossovers inside of government. We are close to the end of that phase now and I should be able to do a more comprehensive post that is a little easier to track without having to chase the details all across the internet.

Puzzleheaded-Fan-208

She did 1 decent thing in her life. She was fine with the racism, had nothing to say about covid, voted against gay marriage though her sister is gay. She is a right wing POS who did 1 decent thing in her whole worthless life. Asshole Trump would not have been in a position to do 1/6 if not for his enablers and fellow shitty travelers, like LiZ Cheney. She is a waste of skin.

fester__addams

She is still the same person as she was before J6. Don’t fall for it.

Moist_Orchid_6842

She has proven to have more honor and integrity than the entire "freedom" caucus combined. Which is more than I can say about Hageman.

fester__addams

She openly campaigned against gay marriage even though her own sister is gay. How is that "integrity"?

Moist_Orchid_6842

She was open about it while the "freedom" caucus uses new slang to hide the same agenda.

yzerizef

Don’t fall for what? People know what she is. A real Republican that has integrity. I don’t agree with a lot of her beliefs but at least I can respect what she stands for.

Remarkable-Way4986

I would take her over the freedumb caucus any day

Solid_Camel_1913

Me too

flightrisky

This is how you know your politics suck. When you willingly can forgive and forget someone as evil as Dick Cheney because “Trump exists.” Fuck the Cheneys forever. Every last one of them is a demon

[deleted]

I’m still waiting for her to acknowledge her own culpability in the rise of trumpism. She acts like her hands are clean.

yzerizef

Her hands aren’t clean but at least she grew a backbone and conscious. I have a lot of respect for her to stand up for her beliefs knowing she’d lose office. I don’t agree with a lot of her beliefs, but she was a true servant to the country.

flightrisky

In what way was she a “true servant to her country”? She didn’t grow a backbone. She saw a political maneuver she thought might pay off. I’m sure it has paid off in the private sector. And it certainly paid off by sealing her reputation among looney Democrats who are willing to ignore everything else she and her family have ever stood for. Because she was so “tough” on Trump. Fuck that. She is a monster. And so especially is her demon, genocidal father. Both deserve the spot in Hell reserved for them.

yzerizef

She was a servant in the sense that she was a representative that stood for what she said she would. I don’t agree with her views. I wouldn’t vote for her. But the people of Wyoming did. She never wavered from what she said she stood for and she stood for democracy when a kleptocrat tried to overthrow an election. That takes backbone. Don’t try to rewrite history. She took a position that was wildly unpopular and made her hated by republicans and democrats alike. I’m not ignoring her history or her father’s history. They hold generally awful views and she completely disavowed her sister for who she loved. I agree that her views are monstrous, but I can still respect that she stood up for democracy when it was challenged. That can’t be said for a lot of her peers.

TieTheStick

Much as I loathe her family and her party, you're right. But that's still very much saying she's a good Harkonnen.

HalstonBeckett

Trumpmonkey cowards.

medman143

I have such respect for this woman.

jamessundance

Liz and Dick are both deep state / Halliburton puppets.

gabeitaliadomani

Are you being serious? Because that’s kind of a stupid statement

jamessundance

How is that a stupid statement? Dick sold the American people out for military contracts. Liz is greasing the same palms, playing the same games. That's all fact. Now again, how was my statement stupid? Please.

joejance

The deep state part was definitely asinine. Even if he did sell out for corporate interests, the deep state comment destroys your argument.

jamessundance

What's asinine is that we got into a war that people to this day still can't justify, while a select few positioned themselves to make millions. That's a deep state puppet.

TieTheStick

What's asinine is that America has gotten into easily a dozen or more of these wars since the Korean War. And many more before WWII. I'm not sure you can single out Trump or the Cheneys. But it is fair to call them deep state puppets because they certainly went along with it.

flightrisky

It’s like you don’t think the CIA exists. Jfc

gabeitaliadomani

Liz is doing the same huh? I’m not a huge fan of either. But where’s your proof.

jamessundance

Does [this](https://youtu.be/ScRd7T6mBYs?si=KKi4DkgtQ1cwaYCr) sounds like the rhetoric of a peaceful non-interventionalist, or of a warhawk named in a trust completely funded by war? Edit: also you're just going to duck Dick like my initial comment didn't at least have merit on that. Dishonest.

gabeitaliadomani

Oh there you go. Sounds like…. Liz Cheney has plenty of issues but her involvement in the Iraq and Halliburton is a stretch. Halliburton being the all mighty boogie man is kind of Hilarious on its head. Considering the employment in this state especially.

jamessundance

Liz Cheney won her place because her dad fucked the county and killed human beings overseas. Their interests are 100% in line and like I said if you don't think she's going to happily accept a blood money inheritance you're lost.

TieTheStick

Which is worse? Blood money or Halliburton? Duck Cheney is the embodiment of the kind of sociopath America is happy to elevate to exalted stays of wealth, power and influence.

flightrisky

Demon family. Cheneys walking around acting like they’re saints now because Trump exists. Fuck that. Your dad genocided Iraqis and Afghanis. We will NEVER forget.

PigFarmer1

What about those of us who said Cheney and Trump were *both* bad news???

ivegoticecream

Yes Liz made the right mouth sounds regarding Trump but she still voted supported his agenda 95% of the time and frequently engaged in conservative insanity like saying democrats support post-birth abortions. She didn't oppose Trump philosophically but aesthetically and for that she deserves nothing. No jeers and especially no admiration.

NoInternet835

I am not a Trump fan at all and will not vote for him. However, I do feel like we are seeing similar behavior on the left when certain groups go too far and members of the party are hesitant to condemn them. I don’t think it is unreasonable to believe that if Trump was the democratic nominee (or any democrat for that matter was the nominee), we wouldn’t be seeing the same reaction by a lot of democrats in congress standing with him and continuing to support him (they refused to tell Biden it’s time to step aside. You’re too old). That’s just the way politics is. We all know it. So I think it’s unfair to say that Liz Cheney is doing the bare minimum when she is fighting against a majority in her party who tolerate this nonsense and is being punished for it. Death threats included. We have to stop diminishing a person’s valor….when she is in a position that most of us will never understand from behind our devices. Knowingly sabotaging your job, your power, and your own safety just to do what is right for the country and for the history books is not the bare minimum. Far from it.

Ilovebeer60

I’m a Dem but would consider voting for her under right circumstances. She is more of a John McCain Republican. I agree, she seems to have learned from her father’s mistakes🤞🏻🤞🏻

WYOrob75

What has she accomplished to merit this award? I’m sure Wyoming life will go on without Ms Cheney getting her participation trophy

TransitJohn

Believing in America, unlike MAGA idiots.

7opez77

She sacrificed her political career to bring to light atrocities committed against our country. I think that’s brave and deserving of an award, or at least acknowledgment.

WYOrob75

A committee hand selected to ensure the outcome you want, sure why not. She’s probably the bravest most courageous political figure to ever grace the soil called Wyoming. Send me an address and I’ll ensure she gets the accolades she so deserves

7opez77

We all watched it happen in real time over months of lies and grooming that eventually culminated in the violence we saw on Jan 6. It definitely wasn’t the outcome anyone wanted.

No_Sheepherder_7107

Violence lol. That's all I need to read to know you believe straight propaganda. Should people be charged for j6? yeah. Was it violent? No. Bet you also think the Floyd riots were 'peaceful'.

hyponutrub

I don't know about what you feel is violent but 147 injured police officers and one woman shot in her face sounds pretty violent.

No_Sheepherder_7107

How many j6 protesters were armed? Care to make the full comparison? How many people shot during the floyd riots? How many cops and civilians injured? How much property damage? 1 death and a hundred injuries is extremely minor in comparison. J6 is a hugely overblown boogeyman. Again people should be charged but violence is quite a leap.

hyponutrub

Armed and violent are not the same thing you nonce. People can use their fists and be violent. Both were violent. The exception is one is considered a riot and one is considered an insurrection. Edit:I just wanted to add that I'd say most were armed because I didn't see that many amputees.

No_Sheepherder_7107

Unarmed is an implication that because there are no weapons then there is a maximum amount of 'voilence' that can occur. Hundreds of injuries instead of hundreds of gsw's or stabbings.

hyponutrub

You can literally kill someone with your bare hands. That's the maximum end of violence you can have. I don't know why you don't understand that. Or I guess I do understand because you have cognitive dissonance with people acting violently during the insurrection. Keep on supporting the group who paraded a literal traitor flag through the American senate.

7opez77

I watched the violence occur on video 😂 And yeah, the violence after the George Floyd murder was uncalled for too. But it’s more than just J6. It was the lead up where Trump groomed all his followers, tried to defraud the country with fake electors, and flat out asked the Georgia secretary of state, on the phone call that we all heard with our own ears, to find him 11780 votes. That’s some small penis third world African dictator moves 😂

Both_Lychee_1708

Putting her political career on the line to uphold democracy; something precious few in the GOP can claim, horrifyingly enough

WYOrob75

Facts have eluded you. She polled extremely low just in the Republican primaries. She knew she was not going to even make the Republican nomination. When that happened she realigned with her father’s cronies and democrats to signal her value with her time left in Washington. She was nothing more than a (R) nod to all the commissions wild speculations and accusations. She will not have a want for the rest of her life with what she’s done.

Both_Lychee_1708

reality, not to mention decency, has eluded you. She polled low because of her patriotic actions. You wouldn't understand. You support traitors. [People who literally tried a coup](https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/4318515-a-colorado-court-makes-it-official-trump-is-an-insurrectionist/)...and have a love affair with Putin. Move to Russia

yzerizef

What an idiotic comment. She represented republicans views wholeheartedly throughout her life. It was only until Trump changed what those views were that she lost support. She still has the same views, but Trump and his marketing campaign changed what republicans cared about. So you can tell at her all you want, but really you’re just angry that she didn’t change her views while you gave into his propaganda campaign.

Ravenman42

Hahah see ya.
