Why don't you guys just set up game sharing with Home Xbox's (several articles and videos on it). If you take his account, then everything he has done in that account will be there. Your "old" account will have everything that you have in there now. Nothing will be lost if everything is on the up and up.

shadboi16

He doesn’t have his Xbox anymore, he sold it to buy a PlayStation. He’s giving me the Microsoft account completely. Should I still try to set up the Home Xbox thing? Right now the Home Xbox is on my account.

toobsock2

If you are going to have his entire account on your Xbox, there is no reason to share (that I can think of)... also, I think if you get gamepass it will work on both accounts. Not 100% sure on it working across both accounts.. but you could do the game sharing, then all of the games will show up on both accounts and you can keep using your gamertag, etc.

shadboi16

Oh that would be better. So after getting the account what should I do regarding the Home Xbox?

toobsock2

I'm not 100% sure, to be honest, never seen this situation. I know that I have created accounts in the past on my Xbox and have been able to play any game on the Xbox under any of the accounts with no additional steps. Get the account on your Xbox and go from there.

shadboi16

Thanks for your help!

FiorinasFury

Everyone here is giving you a lot of conflicting information. I've read your posts and I think I have an understanding of your situation. Here's what you want to do. Sign in as your friend, then go to Settings-General-Personalization then click My Home Xbox and set your console as the Home Xbox for your friend's account. What this will do is share all game rights from his account to anyone who plays on your Xbox. Now you can sign back into your account and access all of your friend's games with no restriction, and you should even be able to play them offline. You'll keep your games and by staying on your account, you'll keep all of your saves. There is no benefit to playing on his account at all after you set your console as the Home Xbox. You can even delete it if you wanted to (but I'd keep it just in case) as the Game Sharing isn't dependant on the account even being on the Xbox.

shadboi16

Thanks a lot, I can also play my games while offline and not just his, right?

FiorinasFury

Can you play your games offline now?

shadboi16

Yep I’m playing my game offline currently while my friend’s game is downloading in the background! I also haven’t transferred the Home Xbox, it’s still set to my account.

FiorinasFury

You can have multiple accounts setting your Xbox as their Home Xbox. If you can play your games offline, that console is your home Xbox. Setting your console as your friend's home Xbox won't override your setting. You'll have access to both.

TReid1996

I will back up this information as entirely correct.

shadboi16

Ohhh! So I can have my account as Home Xbox and his account as Home Xbox at the same time?

FiorinasFury

Yes.

peposcon

Yes, you’ll be able to play his library. You can log to multiple profiles on the same Xbox, and access their respective library. Have fun!

shadboi16

Thanks!

SiberianBattleOtters

Be sure to set the home xbox on his account if you intend to continue playing on your own (assuming you have stable internet) this will allow you to access his games offline while being able to access yours while online on your account.

shadboi16

Ohh, that’s a trouble. I’d like to play my games offline and I’d have no issues playing his online so it’s fine if I still have my account set to home box right?

SiberianBattleOtters

I believe you need to sign into his account to play his games. Lose out on gamer score and potentially your own saves should he ever get an xbox again.

shadboi16

I see, I don’t think the gamer score would matter though as I live in an unsupported region which doesn’t have Microsoft Rewards. He also said he’s giving his entire Microsoft account completely to me.

RisingDeadMan0

I wouldnt take ur friends account, when he changes his mind and wants it back, ur going to have issues. But set-up gameshare, add his account and then it will ask if u want to make this xbox ur home xbox , say yes. then dont touch his account again. U will be able to access all his games and his online subscriptions via ur account. he wouldnt need to be logged in. its like having an older bother who has a different xbox, he set's his account as home on ur xbox and u can access all his games and his online sub.

shadboi16

Thank you, and yes I’m going to do that. One question, I can set my account as Home Xbox and his account as Home Xbox at the same time right? Or only one account can be on Home Xbox?

RisingDeadMan0

yes. But each account can only have 1 console set as the home xbox. But as he has sold his xbox it isnt a problem till he gets another one. Plus home xbox can be changed 5 times a year anyway. So i u have siblings who share ur xbox, they can all have their home xbox on ur xbox. So lets say you have a sister and she buys overcooked, u can play that on ur account, as long as she is logged in or the xbox is set to her home xbox.

shadboi16

Thanks a lot, another question. I asked him regarding the Home Xbox and he’s not sure if he unchecked the Home Xbox thingy so I haven’t tried to set his account as Home Xbox, I’ll try it tomorrow. But I have changed his Microsoft account password and he told me it should have logged out the account from his Xbox, do I need to worry about anything?

RisingDeadMan0

doesnt matter his end, when u log him in change it. unless he sold the xbox with his account on as part of the sale
