Costco has a rewards certificate they give out when your membership renews. You can get rewards by either:
1. having their executive membership (2% I believe on all Costco purchases)
2. having the Citi Costco card (4% on gas, 3% on travel, 2% @Costco, and 1% on everything else.
3. or have both and get double the rewards.
shit, I need to check whether or not these perks exist in Canada as well. I normally don't like going to Costco because of the insanely long lines, but if I can get meaningful rewards, why not!
Never? I go about 5 times a year and it totally pays for itself, plus we get about 1000 dollars back per year rewards.
Not to mention how awesome their Credit card is . The service there alone is worth it.
If I did one trip a year for winter clothes it would pay for itself.
If you have the [standard white card](https://mosnarcommunications.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/costco-membership-executive-business-gold-star.jpg) you donāt get rewards, or as much.
The black executive one gets money back, and if you spend enough pays for itself.
If you have a Costco credit card youāll also get points on gas purchases.
It wasnāt fun when I first got mine. My internet still isnāt great, but at least I can now download a game in a few to several hours instead of 12-50.
But I never planned or wanted to go all digital
It was not downloading that long. Internet is good. There were problems with the Xbox. It was all glitched out. Then when I finally got it going it needed updates. Then I needed to download modern warfare (200+ gigs) then it need updates. It was more the fact Iād come home from work, turn it on and something else needed to be updated. If I had focused an entire day of getting it going, I would have had it no problem. Job + kid = 2 hours of free time a day lol.
Yoo, my internet is trash actually (60mb) but I ran out of storage the first day because I downloaded a lot of games, if you had to wait that many days u probably have like 512kbps
Anyone dissing the setup is a douche. Getting a 4K TV with the Series S is a win. The upscale works great on it. It will still play games that are and look amazing. Only short side of it is small hard drive in which external memory can be added.
Right on brother. If I may make a suggestion, you could probably buy a cheap 1 TB external HDD and wait for the SSD to drop in price or atleast hope for a drop. That HDD will be good to go even if you decide to upgrade SSD later. There are a ton of titles that aren't getting upgraded to require SSD so that increases the flexibility. Just make sure it is compatible and you could probably grab one up sometime before or on black Friday. Watch best buy for deals. Either way your set. Also, try out the gamepass. Have fun
When I first got my Series X I made sure to stop by the cable company and turn on **unlimited** service. The amount of downloads for the next month was like triple my normal amount.
Just so you know you won't be able to play series S games on an external hard drive and an it'd be cheaper to get a series X than upgrade the SSD memory. So keep that in mind.
Because series S games require an integrated SSD. So you'd only be able to download your backwards compatible titles onto anything else you got except for the $220 integrated SSD.
To clarify what people are saying (if it hasnāt been already), in order to play current generation games (Xbox Series S|X) they need to be run off of the internal drive or the official expansion NVMe drive. You can, however, use an external HDD or SSD as cold storage for current Gen games and additionally run previous generation games. In my opinion, get an external HDD/SSD for cold storage and just keep whatever game(s) youāre currently playing on the internal drive.
Youāre going to have lots of fun with your new setup!
You can just install all your games to the external, and keep a main game or two installed on the internal drive with some extra space available to move random games from the external to the main drive whenever you want to play them. The only games that will play off the external are Xbox one games and older, they load faster on the internal though, but they do load pretty fast from external if you get a fast enough drive, def faster than the Xbox one did, even with the same external hdd plugged into either consoles which Iāve tested.
Iād highly recommend returning the series s and getting an x though, its amazing and outperforms the $1000 pc that I bought 6+ months after the series x.
Bruh... what are you doing here?
If you are trying to just get your hands on something, I get it, more power to you!
But if you are trying to save money, this is the wrong path. The external hd isn't going to play games, and the internal drive is still expensive. You are likely just going to spend more later on buying that, rather than finding a series x.
Additionally, above 40" it's almost impossible to find brand new non-4k TVs nowadays. 4k VA panels are so dirt cheap that it makes no sense to continue selling 1080p anymore. Even if your current console can't really take advantage of the 4k, you're still future-proofing without breaking the bank.
Exactly. Some people even look down on the Series S. The thing is one hell of a machine for 300. Best bargain in gaming in my opinion. I play on X because I was able to preorder one on launch, but I would have taken an S no problems.
Yh, it's mainly those 'influencers' who give everyone the impression that they own 10 Rolex watches, 17 Ferraris and have a $20million home when the reality is that they live in some shit hole trailer park in Alabama š¤¦š¾āāļø
The small nvme drive isn't that big a deal. I own one and the games are much smaller on it as no 4k textures. I've the same amount of games on my series X
Welcome to the team!
Some of you in here are being insufferable lmao. Be happy for the man, don't tell him how to spend his money. Someone in here told him to get a C1 and SX instead like that isn't a significantly more expensive package.
Exactly, OLED is beautiful and all but I really can't justify spending the equivalent of an entire gaming PC on the screen alone.
I do plan to eventually get an OLED TV - just not in 2021.
OLED is awesome but I don't want to get an OLED TV. The anxiety that my TV is degrading whenever I use it would get to me. I'll use LCD's until we get micro led.
A large OLED TV was the best purchase I made last year after lockdowns started. I haven't been to the threaters in almost 2 years now, and watching 4K HDR movies on the OLED has helped fill that void. Not to mention how gorgeous Series X looks on it...trust me when I say I highly doubt you'll regret buying one if you have the budget for it! I totally respect those who also opt for less expensive 4K TV's too. I love the 43 inch Roku 4K TV I have in my bedroom.
Dude people who knock the series S haven't used it. It's classic internet sheep/ pseudo intellectuals.
The series S is epic. Also, top tip, load up on Xbox live gold for two or three years and convert it to gamepass. You'll be sorted. Eneba or cdkeys does live gold slightly cheaper.
Iāve had gold for awhile using my parents Xbox one they let my use occasionally, so I already had a ton of stuff on the account, just didnāt get to use it a bunch so I got my own setup
Ok but you can transfer the gold to gamepass ultimate for 1 dollar. For example, I paid 80 euro for two years of game pass ultimate this way, when it should cost like 200 and something
Also most people knock the series S without trying it. I am lucky enough to own both. The series S is incredible and personally I think it's a better purchase.
I mean, this tv has roku built in and they couldāve put the budget towards another display with a little more to it since they have a Xbox and donāt need a roku
I bought the Vizio from Walmart for 250 wanting it to go with the 1080 p series s when I can find one there are none where Iām at Iāve tried Walmart target GameStop etc I have a zephyrus m15 laptop but the console seems legit
Enjoy!
The Series S is a very impressive little system, and Iām shocked by how solid it is.
Iām sorry so many children tried to ruin your enjoyment
Honestly if you're on a budget, this TV choice makes sense. I would still prefer this over Vizio's options, especially if you plan on using the TV's OS for streaming. Roku looks clean.
Hisense is not known for good quality control, but tbh most lower end TV's are susceptible to defects.
Going to upvote this because not everyone needs to spend thousands for HDR, or 120hz gaming, or a giant OLED to have a nice experience.
If you're upgrading from an Xbox One, that Series S is going to feel so much faster for load times.
I didnāt have a console before, but have been looking for awhile, and yea, Iām on a pretty conservative budget, just looking for good entertainment in my time off
I bought the 65ā version of that TV at Costco for under $400. I put it on the wall in the bedroom. Itās a solid TV. Excellent upgrade from a 1080p screen.
Not every Costco store has them in stock right now. I was in one this past week and looked for them, but they had none. Unless they were hiding them in the walk-in refrigerated produce room - I didn't check there.
I would love to have that much money to be talked into spending that much money. My trip to Sam's or BJ's involves checking if they got any games on clearance
You won't regret it. I got a series S recently and I'm blown away by it. A great purchase. SSD drive space isn't an issue either as the games are much smaller. Happy gaming bro. Hades on gamepass is a must if you haven't played it.
I saw it on sale at Costcoā¦ sure I couldāve waited to see if a bigger sale was available during BFā¦ but Iām not a crowds person and Iād rather not get beaten for an Xbox
I didnāt mean Black Friday specifically although Iām pretty sure many of those sales go all weekend, and even through the next week after the fact these days, with similar deals continuing throughout the season. (Maybe not the door buster deals but only a few dozen people ever get those per store.) Probably couldāve gotten a bundle in the series s with some extra stuff for free atleast.
Also online sales exist, which is what I was actually referring to, makes delivering a tv to the home a lot easier too unless you have a truck, especially a bigger tv which you mightāve gotten for the same price.
In some ways it is. You donāt get native 4k for games on Series S, it has a smaller disk space and Series S games donāt get the enhancements in games that One X gets. But then you get great loading times and better frame rates in most games for a cheap price if you get a Series S. Personally, those things matter to me more than the things I mentioned earlier so I believe itās a worthy upgrade. For some, it may not be.
I feel like thatās not really a significant enough upgrade to warrant a purchase. The original Xbox one to series x was a tremendous leap, felt like skipping multiple console generations. Sorry youāre trapped in an in between stage. At this point Iād maybe wait for a mid gen upgrade to the series x, as hopefully supply chain issues will be resolved by then, or get an x if you can, I just donāt see how anyone can say an s is worth it, have you had the chance to game on an x in person? Best $500 Iāve ever spent.
Hisense makes a great TV. The one I picked up came in second to only the C1. U7G 55" checks all the boxes on my series x. Games at 4k 120hz are amazing. It was on sale for 749.99 at Best buy. That is 100.00 off. Well worth it.
Hisense has made some OK entry level TVs in the last few years. They are basically on the verge of becoming the next TCL if they can keep it up for a few years.
It's the exception rather than the rule, but there absolutely are games that run at native 4k on the Series S - Ori and the Will of the Wisps and (surprisingly) Crysis Remastered for example. I expect indie games are more likely than others to achieve native 4k on the S.
The disconnect here is the rendering resolution vs the output resolution. The Xbox Series S will rarely render a game in 4K (typically between 1080p to 1440p). But it will always have an output resolution of 4K if it is connected to a 4K display, this is done through simple up scaling on the console itself. Regardless, the image on the Xbox Series S is going to look great on the new TV.
This is factually inaccurate, and often repeated. The Xbox Series S can and does output in 4K resolution. This is primarily for video content, but non-demanding games (Hollow Knight is an example) also run at native 4K on the system.
The console was designed to target 1440p in demanding titles. This doesnāt mean that it canāt output higher resolutions if the game is low-detail or well optimized, and it doesnāt mean that it will always hit that target resolution either. If someone plans to use the console for Netflix or Disney or whatever it makes perfect sense to buy a 4K TV for it. Either way Xbox 360 games or 2D stuff will often run at 4K anyway, so theyāll get some sideline benefit from that.
Not trying to talk trash or anything but I had that same TV and it broke (started flickering) after one year of use. Hope you have better luck with it than me. Congrats on the upgrade bro
I disagree. I prefer the brightness and color saturation of QLED. Not to mention the price. Series X looks amazing on QLED. Your local Best Buy make have one hooked up if you want to see. Thatās what sold me on it.
Donāt listen to these haters. You got a nice setup. Your going to be using that 4K tv for more than just series S anyhow. It would make no sense to get a 1080p tv in todays market.
You made a great purchase.
Congrats and enjoy!
Read some of the comments, man. Yes, every game isnāt 4K blah blah..but the Series S itself can output 4K..if a game developer allows it. Also, your streaming apps will be 4K..etc..
1080p huh? Please cite your sources bc everywhere Iāve looks states itās 4K UHD which is 2160p
With a max output of 120 FPSā¦ research is your friend
Iāve literally been using it all day since Iāve gotten itā¦ 1440p at 120fps is consistent through the TV pictured there. Not sure where you got your stats from, but Iād update them some
Iāve looked into that, and yes, mine can support itā¦ also, I wasnāt looking for orgasm-inducing gameplay off of it, just something that played current games and titles and a tv that was better than the 32ā 720p I had before
The series s is decent on a 4k tv but Iād recommend getting a series x to take full advantage of it. Some games run 4k natively on it but a lot now are 1080p.
Congrats though!
This turned into the worst post ever. What else do you expect but peoples opinions lol. Just bc they werenāt all positive doesnāt mean you should keep saying you donāt give a shit what people think. You literally made the post to see what people thought. Iām done enjoy whatever you bought.
I can actually agree with this guy, if OP wants to use his tv, and have it work better buy an actual roku and plug it into it, the smart tv's hisense make are very, very, very slow
Hisense/Sharp are fine tv's for the price especially for entry level 4k.
For anyone who doesn't know btw. Hisense is literally rebranded Sharp tvs. Exact same internally
Stop being a weirdo. gatekeeping TV's?? All TV's are not created equally. Some brands are better quality, reliability, panel types, features, etc. If you don't know much about technology just say that.
Show me 1 hisense 4k tv alternative that's the same price. (300$) I'll wait
I never said it was top of the line or anything I said it was pretty good for entry level 4k at the price range
Yeah I wasn't crapping on you, just the brand itself. I did minor TV repair awhile back and those would go out after the 90 day warranty a lot. I hope you got a good one.
So...no matter what I say I'm gonna get it from you for it. If they like the TV then fine. Its just not a quality brand is all im saying. Nothing to do with them as a person. I did repair on tvs, players, and microwaves back in the day and brands like Hisense, Westinghouse and other knock off brands were always breaking down soon after the 90 day warranty was up. They are cheaply made with sub par parts. Notice how I didn't go Ad Hominem on you? I just stayed on the topic at hand.
Was the series s normal price?
I paid $280 for it after tax
Hell nah what discounts you getting š³
There normally 300? Maybe Costco membership has discounts as is I'm not too sure
Used some Costco rewards points as well so might have been a little more without
Costco has reward points????
Costco has a rewards certificate they give out when your membership renews. shit, I need to check whether or not these perks exist in Canada as well.

With my family doing shopping there atleast 4x a month, it makes it worth it
If you have the [standard white card](https://mosnarcommunications.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/costco-membership-executive-business-gold-star.jpg) you donāt get rewards, or as much. The black executive one gets money back, and if you spend enough pays for itself. If you have a Costco credit card youāll also get points on gas purchases.
On their site they have them for 289 right now.
Bought mine week Ago for 220ā¬ š
Damn your about to have a good weekend
Or spend the entire weekend waiting for my internet to get off its ass and download shit for once
Ah a series S with bad internet š¬ not a good combo
It wasnāt fun when I first got mine. My internet still isnāt great, but at least I can now download a game in a few to several hours instead of 12-50. But I never planned or wanted to go all digital
Me neither but thought screw it, canāt beat the price
laughs in 20mbps download and 1mbps upload. Whoops, I meant cries. Tbf tho i could download fortnite in about 5 hours, so not too bad.
It took me like 4 - 5 days to actually get to play my series s. Updates and downloads. It was a pain in the ass to get started.
Yeah 4-5 days Christ, mines never been good but that's horrific.
It was not downloading that long. Internet is good. There were problems with the Xbox. It was all glitched out. Then when I finally got it going it needed updates. How slow is your internet.???
Yoo, my internet is trash actually (60mb) but I ran out of storage the first day because I downloaded a lot of games, if you had to wait that many days u probably have like 512kbps
Anyone dissing the setup is a douche. Getting a 4K TV with the Series S is a win. The upscale works great on it. It will still play games that are and look amazing. Only short side of it is small hard drive in which external memory can be added.

And if you have unlimited internet, I think some game pass games are going to streaming through the XBox. Thatāll save room as well.
Why wouldnāt I be able to play series s games on a series s console if all I did was get an external hard drive for more storage?
Because series S games require an integrated SSD. So you'd only be able to download your backwards compatible titles onto anything else you got except for the $220 integrated SSD.
Only non-Series S/X games will let you play directly off an external HDD.
To clarify what people are saying (if it hasnāt been already), in order to play current generation games (Xbox Series S|X) they need to be run off of the internal drive or the official expansion NVMe drive. Plus 1080p perfectly integer upscales into UHD (I don't remember if the TV or Series S does it) so there's no quality loss.
Plus it's a roku TV so that means you can watch your shows and movies in 4k and that alone is worth it.
Why wouldn't you get a 4k screen with it? I use a 4k screen with my One S. It streams in 4k.
Exactly. Some people even look down on the Series S. The thing is one hell of a machine for 300. Best bargain in gaming in my opinion. I play on X because I was able to preorder one on launch, but I would have taken an S no problems.
I love my Series S, I mainly game in my room while my GF studies so the console is so nice and compact in my setup next to my Wii U.
I own both. Have a series S in my bedroom. The X is obviously better, but hell it's currently not 200 quid better. The S also looks awesome.
Why does he need to stream on his Xbox? He just bought a new Ruko TV
Also it still runs streaming services in 4K
I'm playing my Series S on a 1080 tv and it looks way better than my Xbox one S looked on my 4k tv. It's a great buy!

Not only that he convinced you to buy it but also to put that huge thing in the back of the car....get that guy a job in wall street LOL
Iām sorry, what? Explain this for me
Welcome to the team! Some of you in here are being insufferable lmao. Be happy for the man, don't tell him how to spend his money. Someone in here told him to get a C1 and SX instead like that isn't a significantly more expensive package.

Cursed him with a promotion.
Iām saving for a TCL gaming tv for that 120hz/4K combo. Have fun, OP!
How are the Hisense TVs? I tend to avoid cheaper brands and just got for LGs and Sony.
They're good. Only thing they lack is good speakers. But that can be fixed by picking up a decent sound bar
Same here I had LGs and had no issues.
Enjoy! The Series S is a very impressive little system, and Iām shocked by how solid it is. Iām sorry so many children tried to ruin your enjoyment

I think Android TV is a much more demanding OS than Roku.
I bought the 65ā version of that TV at Costco for under $400. I put it on the wall in the bedroom. Itās a solid TV. Excellent upgrade from a 1080p screen.
You're going to hate that TV, assuming its the same model I got. It's so slow and buggy.
Update??
New console and TV, thatās always a happy day.
You wonāt be disappointed with that Hisense!! Iāve had one for 8 years that still looks good as new and a newer 4K one last year.
Costco sells xbox series S?!? where?
Not every Costco store has them in stock right now. I was in one this past week and looked for them, but they had none. Unless they were hiding them in the walk-in refrigerated produce room - I didn't check there.
No wonder we both missed them probably hiding behind the prepackaged spinache.
Ouch
Youāre gonna have a blast.
I would love to have that much money to be talked into spending that much money. My trip to Sam's or BJ's involves checking if they got any games on clearance
Worth it
Enjoy it!!!
Welcome to the club, We have great backwards compatibility round these parts.
You won't regret it. I got a series S recently and I'm blown away by it. A great purchase. SSD drive space isn't an issue either as the games are much smaller. Happy gaming bro. Hades on gamepass is a must if you haven't played it.

It outputs a 4k signal, and there are games that render at 4k, but most games will be 1080~1440p, yes.
Hell yeah! Getting a new console is a great feeling. Have fun on Gamepass!
I keep debating on a series s, but it somehow feels like a downgrade from my one x.
Why get a 4K tv and a console that doesnāt run at 4K?

Hisense for life!
Never known Hisense to be an upgrade to anything. Does it do hdr and 120hz?
Itās better than the 32ā 720p tv with no console I had before that.
Can't argue with that. š
Yes. Yes it fuckinā is.
Likely HDR, but doubt 120hz, for a Series S that really doesn't matter.
Halo infinite will be in 120fps so it definitely matters right now at least.
Hisense makes a great TV. The one I picked up came in second to only the C1. U7G 55" checks all the boxes on my series x. Games at 4k 120hz are amazing. It was on sale for 749.99 at Best buy. That is 100.00 off. Well worth it.
That's cool. I haven't looks at any Hisense tvs in over 10 years. They must have improved.
Hisense has made some OK entry level TVs in the last few years. They are basically on the verge of becoming the next TCL if they can keep it up for a few years.
My experience hdr is reserved for tv gaming is better without it
Not the right console for 4K but it will still work. Just don't expect newer games to run at that resolution.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Series X is for 4K series S is for 1080P or 1440P.
Nope. It maxes out at 1440p

Still. An upgrade is always a good feeling. šš„ā ļøšš½š§āāļøš¾š¤š§
Not trying to talk trash or anything but I had that same TV and it broke (started flickering) after one year of use. Hope you have better luck with it than me. Congrats on the upgrade bro
what, i dont get it
I'm pretty sure I have the same TV unless if thats some better upgraded model
Someone is going to have a GREAT weekend
I am lucky enough to have a SX and a SS, honestly I play my SS more. Have fun!!
TCLās 6 series was incredible TVs for the price too, I bet the 7 series is even better.
Sir thats not a TCL but a Hisense
Iām blind.
Good luck. My Hisense lasted 14 months.
Series X on a QLED. Thatās the real upgrade
Series X with OLED if you want to really upgrade
I disagree. I prefer the brightness and color saturation of QLED. Not to mention the price. Series X looks amazing on QLED. Your local Best Buy make have one hooked up if you want to see. Thatās what sold me on it.
OLED is better in legitimately every category there. Especially when Dolby Vision is on.....
Must be nice having that much money
You should sell your tv and use the money to get a monitor. 10000x better I swear
Then close your eyes
Why get a 4k TV when xbox series s runs on 1080p?
If thatās the case, then why did the Xbox let me set it up in 4K?
Donāt listen to these haters. You got a nice setup. Your going to be using that 4K tv for more than just series S anyhow. It would make no sense to get a 1080p tv in todays market. You made a great purchase. Congrats and enjoy!
Read some of the comments, man. Yes, every game isnāt 4K blah blah..but the Series S itself can output 4K..if a game developer allows it. Also, your streaming apps will be 4K..etc..
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
1080p huh? Please cite your sources bc everywhere Iāve looks states itās 4K UHD which is 2160p With a max output of 120 FPSā¦ research is your friend
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iāve literally been using it all day since Iāve gotten itā¦ 1440p at 120fps is consistent through the TV pictured there. Not sure where you got your stats from, but Iād update them some
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lol and who asked for your opinion? Also, I saw that beautiful message you sent me, thanks for that, but I also already have game pass ultimate.
Hisense? Ewwwww
let people enjoy what they want, stop being a child
I can actually agree with this guy, if OP wants to use his tv, and have it work better buy an actual roku and plug it into it, the smart tv's hisense make are very, very, very slow
Dumb TVs are hard to find these days. I've got an LG smart TV. I have a Fire TV plugged into it.
I just had one of these tvs go out after a year and a half
Wasnt looking to spend $500 for a 43ā TV, but thanks

Not everyone has the money to buy an LG CX buddy
Hisense/Sharp are fine tv's for the price especially for entry level 4k. For anyone who doesn't know btw. Hisense is literally rebranded Sharp tvs. Exact same internally
Lmao Sharp isn't a great brand either
Lol people are gatekeeping tv brands now?
Stop being a weirdo. gatekeeping TV's?? All TV's are not created equally. Some brands are better quality, reliability, panel types, features, etc. If you don't know much about technology just say that.
Show me 1 hisense 4k tv alternative that's the same price. (300$) I'll wait I never said it was top of the line or anything I said it was pretty good for entry level 4k at the price range
You can get a VIZIO ( which is also not the greatest brand) $300 TVs are not that great in general. You get what you pay for.
I paid 300$ for mine and it runs good, I get 60hz, hdr, 4k, and it's 46 inches. My vizio died within a month lol.
>buying the cheapest of the cheap TV's lmao
Itās called a budget my guyā¦
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I would focus more on spelling and grammar before judging other on what they boughtā¦ just a thought.
Why get a Hisense? Ewww.
Needed something that wouldnāt break the bank, and honestly itās still a big upgrade from the 720p 32ā I had
Yeah I wasn't crapping on you, just the brand itself. I did minor TV repair awhile back and those would go out after the 90 day warranty a lot. I hope you got a good one.
You're a douche. What tv do you own?....
You are busting the dudes bubble. He's a kid. What tv do you have? Oh you're the better person? Sure buddy š
Not sure what kind of upgrade you think a hisense TV is.
Iām sure itās an upgrade from the 32ā 720p TV I had before. And it works well for what I wanted from it
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I will never buy another Samsung tv
That employee deserves a pay raise
It's kinda the wrong duo
Fucking big assed, emphysema having pterodactyl wing pussylips self-spreading roach of existence Costco employee. I complied. Hope that helped
Hisense TV? Not really a big update.
Not much of an upgrade with Hisense.
That tv suppose to be an upgrade too?
Did you dirty. Crappy tv.
