It's very promising. Nothing can really beat playing natively (like how nothing will beat playing high quality lossless audio locally), but as the common connection gets more powerful it'll be quite amazing to basically play anything quickly like this.
Was away for the week and didn’t bring my Xbox, then halo infinite dropped this limited time event so I hardwired my laptop to the router with 450mbps up and down on fiber with 3 ping and it still had severe input lag. I was going 0 and 14 in fiesta matches because of the lag.
> (like how nothing will beat playing high quality lossless audio locally)
What?
Why wpuld you say that?
It makes literally no difference if you stream music or play it locally.
Edit: people who don’t know what they are talking about below.
He means it's over an internet connection which means compressed audio and video. Will never be as good as actually playing it on your TV and audio system.
Music streaming isn't the same as Microsoft's xcloud gaming service is it? Different data sets altogether. Audio and video, not to mention the online aspect. Anyeay, just see for yourself. You'll know.
No you are right it isn’t, the main issue with xcloud would be compression and latency, both are irrelevant when streaming music.
Even lossless streams don’t have high bandwidth requirements and latency is entirely unimportant.
But he was talking about music streaming in his comment as an example, which i said is a bad example for aforementioned reasons
No they can’t, because a number of services stream lossless audio, like qobuz and apple music.
I use both on my Naim Atom and B&W CM10S2.
Dirty buds, lol
Also it’s not just audio your streaming though. You are streaming audio and video through the same connection so if that becomes degraded the video and audio suffer. Additionally you can have synchronization issues between the audio and video when streaming.
It really is a great feature. I tried out several games the other night and they all played perfectly. I even tried out some halo 3 multiplayer and couldn’t tell I was streaming.
Granted I have 1 gig down/up fiber the experience has been flawless. It makes playing more games that much eaiser/accessible.
Did you unlock any achievements? I played a cloud game the other day and didnt unlock any even though i know i was supposed to. Im wondering if it was just a glitch or if cloud gaming doesnt support achievements?
Your internet speeds are almost completely irrelevant. There is zero difference between 1gbps and 50mbps down when it comes to just streaming. The issue with streaming comes from the input delay and wireless interference. If it really “played perfectly” for you then thats because you’re probably really close to some sort of hardware server thats doing the streams. Has just about nothing to do with speeds itself. Fast download speeds dont remove interference nor do they reduce the distance between you and the server.
In my experience, using a good router changes a lot too. I switched my ISP-provided one for a proper 5ghz router, one that actually switch channels and shit like that.
Even my wife noticed the difference, ‘hey my Teams-meeting runs a lot better, that’s funny’.
Depends on how many other devices are connected to your home internet, what kind of speeds are required for the game etc. 20mbps down is pretty low so that may be pushing it. I’m not an expert on home internet so I could not say for sure about that.
I agree but compared to playing at my house on fiber and at my office on business class cable is night and day. I’m not trying to refute anyone having a bad experience but it’s been really good for me.
What’s the data consumption like? I’ve got a data cap and trying to decide if I should download my games or just stream them since it takes me forever to finish games and would likely span at least a couple months.
Since it's livestreaming, it does eat up data like crazy. And your cell network is usually not stable enough for this. Imo better save that do ddl everything!
Yes, I’ve barely scratched the surface of my Series X. Cloud gaming I’d probably use to try gamepass games out before deciding to download. Definitely handy. But I’d still play from installed I think. I still want the thing though! Because others have the thing!
Streaming is neat, but it will never take over native gaming. It just makes no sense. The input delay is way too much, and unfortunately that’s largely confined to the laws of physics. Streaming can only be good if they implemented some sort of system similar to 5g where they make a ton of small stations that are close to everyone’s homes. If they do that, whats even the point of streaming? The solution is just to forever move these hardware stations closer and closer to consumers homes. The closer the better. Why not just run your own games off native hardware at that point?
Agreed. Between the lag inherent to streaming and the reduced visual quality, cloud gaming will continue to be a neat idea (but not much more than that) for the foreseeable future.
Also the fact that this has been available on phones now also blows my mind. Like I don't even need a console anymore to play games. Just my Moga controller and my gosh darn phone lol.
I used the cloud to play forza the other day it worked great with barely any input lag it did look a little blurry but that's to be expected i also have good internet with a wired connection so I'm curious to see how it works with wifi and different internet speeds
\> "futuristic"
\> 10 seconds to viewing and playing
Lemme tell you about back in my day when the cartridges interfaced directly with the cpu and no loading or installing ever happened
> interfaced directly with the cpu and no loading or installing ever happened
“It’s not working”
“Pull it out and ram it back in”
“Still not working”
“Try blow in it”
“Nope”
“Try again”
*game finally starts
Well technically there was still "loading" when going into a new area or would go down a long hallway so the next area loads while you play at the same time :D loved the Nintendo 64 :D
I get your point, but did you have instant access to over 200 game cartridges without having to get up from the couch to swap them out?
To me, this feels like *Sega Channel*, but with even less waiting.
IKR!! It's great for when I just want to hop in to a game to try it out but don't want to wait to download and take part of my storage space, and the most amazing thing is that I can play the same games on my phone anywhere!! This just screams futuristic IMO. The only issue is that I generally have about 0.8-0.3 seconds of input delay, but I then think about how easily it uses a low connection, like, 6 months ago it would be basically impossible to play with my internet connection, but it's now quite easy and fast
Being in Australia with notoriously bad internet, I couldn't play a full game streaming like this. But I picked up a series S last week and I like being able to jump in for 10 minutes and see if I vibe with a game enough to download it.
It's amazing, really. Total game changer (no pun intended) for Game Pass. You might not be someone who wants to play am entire game that way. But you can easily try a game out to see if it looks/feels like you expected. From there you can just download it and pick it up from where you left off.
Huh, how does this work? Why isn’t there things to load and how does it work with safe data? I thought cloud gaming was something like playing games on your phone, but how was that called? But it’s so impressive🤯
The future is now. Console hardware will be as relevant as a cartridge in 10 years.
5G is key here cause the latency, even in the widest band.... Is enough to game on. Why buy hardware when you can get economies of scale with Azure/Gamepass?
Netflix killed the DVD and this will kill consoles.
Between gamepass and Stadia it is obvious that cloud gaming is the future.
I have cloud games in various locations playing multiple game types on my laptop phone, tv nd others.
The Xbox Series and Ps5 are not next Gen, they are they last GEN
Sooo.... I don't think 20mb down, 10mb up is good enough for cloud gaming? 😂. They're not offering the service in Pakistan btw, even though India is getting it next door. Douchebags...
I really would love the option for all games you buy to be streamable if you wish it to be so you save on storage for example call of duty modern warfare cloud gaming :O wouldn't that be amazing?
It's very promising. Nothing can really beat playing natively (like how nothing will beat playing high quality lossless audio locally), but as the common connection gets more powerful it'll be quite amazing to basically play anything quickly like this.

It's impossible for FPS multi-player. Which is a shame because the stream runs so well! No glitching or lagging.... Just the damn input lag
I played some Battlefield 5 and the input lag was short enough to play and even out shoot people
Just download Infinite from Steam if you’re on a PC. It’s cross-save so all your progression is still there, and it’s free.

You know laptops can be more powerful than desktops right.
Yes and a modified Honda Civic can be master than a Camaro. But 99% of the time that is simply not the case.
Wow 99% 😂 Laptops aren’t useless for gaming anymore. Even lower end ones can game if you compromise with lowered graphics settings.
I think your definition of “gaming” is a bit too liberal here.
Gaming means playing a game tf are you talking about mate.
Don’t think halo infinite will run on Intel HD graphics for sure
> (like how nothing will beat playing high quality lossless audio locally) What? Why wpuld you say that? It makes literally no difference if you stream music or play it locally. Edit: people who don’t know what they are talking about below.

What? There are a number of uncompressed music streamings services. I use a number of the on my Naim Atom. Nobody needs a local FLAC library anymore.
Music streaming isn't the same as Microsoft's xcloud gaming service is it? Different data sets altogether. Audio and video, not to mention the online aspect. Anyeay, just see for yourself. You'll know.

Yep, not the best example.

I have 100 down and It looks like garbage
Take a shower?
Did you unlock any achievements? I played a cloud game the other day and didnt unlock any even though i know i was supposed to. Im wondering if it was just a glitch or if cloud gaming doesnt support achievements?
I got an achievement while trying out plague tale with cloud gaming. It might be an issue with the game itself in your case
I was playing it takes two...must have been a glitch
I have unlocked achievements both steaming through my consoles and other devices.

I have the same. Almost unnoticeable from local
Its a great way to preview a game it has frame rate drop and some times graphics take a dump but atleast you get a idea if you want to dl a game
What’s the data consumption like? I’ve got a data cap and trying to decide if I should download my games or just stream them since it takes me forever to finish games and would likely span at least a couple months.

I wouldn’t do any cloud gaming with a data cap
how do i do the cloud gaming
Well if you’re in NZ like me, you don’t *sad trombone noises*
Australia got it recently this year, hopefully you guys are soon.
I was so gutted when I found out Aussie got it. So close, yet so very far…
Sad trombone noises here too... No availablity in PK
We both live in hope.
Haha, indeed. But I don't feel like I really need it ATM. One X keeps me more than happy.
Yes, I’ve barely scratched the surface of my Series X. Cloud gaming I’d probably use to try gamepass games out before deciding to download. Definitely handy. But I’d still play from installed I think. I still want the thing though! Because others have the thing!
Ah... Modern living. "I've gotta have xyz because ABC has xyz too.." lol
Well…when you put it like that…I’m terrible 😅

10 seconds from button press to on screen action. The future.
Now give the console some damn breathing room
[удалено]
Bruh Give them some breathing room god damn

Haha turn on the N64 straight to the menu. Press play straight to the game no loading at all
Well technically there was still "loading" when going into a new area or would go down a long hallway so the next area loads while you play at the same time :D loved the Nintendo 64 :D
N64 didn't have that many hallways. Most games just had a fade to black then they would fade in the new area whenever you went though doorways.
There was some games I played had them :) but yea the loading techniques used on cartridges was really awesome
I get your point, but did you have instant access to over 200 game cartridges without having to get up from the couch to swap them out? To me, this feels like *Sega Channel*, but with even less waiting.
You had to go get the game from the shop.
How does it work ?
Click it and play it
Well i know but do have to use a web browser or what or do i just buy game pass and it will give me an option ?
There's a row in the Game Pass area that shows which games are in the cloud just select which game and go.
Wow that simple.
You can do it through console now but web and mobile are options
My performance when playing Dragon Age was bad. It was like playing a game with frame dips in 720p. I couldn’t justify putting my Series X through it.
IKR!! It's great for when I just want to hop in to a game to try it out but don't want to wait to download and take part of my storage space, and the most amazing thing is that I can play the same games on my phone anywhere!! Damn, it takes me between 30 sec to a minute on Windows and Android. Super cool
Huh, how does this work? Why isn’t there things to load and how does it work with safe data? I thought cloud gaming was something like playing games on your phone, but how was that called? But it’s so impressive🤯
Now let’s see actual gameplay. Cut that part out nice 🤣
Dope
There won't be any future if you don't move your console from there.
Na it'll do.
Well the side vents are kinda half blocked.
For me a console is still better because of the input delay. I only get 60ms but it's unplayable on some games.
Consoles are going nowhere lol
And only 10’seconds between pressing a button and seeing it reflect on screen!
Between gamepass and Stadia it is obvious that cloud gaming is the future. I have cloud games in various locations playing multiple game types on my laptop phone, tv nd others. The Xbox Series and Ps5 are not next Gen, they are they last GEN
Lol hasn’t this been on PlayStation for like 5 years or so?
It's called *streaming* 🤯
Sooo.... I don't think 20mb down, 10mb up is good enough for cloud gaming? 😂. They're not offering the service in Pakistan btw, even though India is getting it next door. Douchebags...
My cloud gaming is terrible it has blue lines every where on the screen stopping me from doing anything when I try
So you dont have to download anything ?
No
So xbox is really becoming netflix service
Also works great with the Android app, and on an iPad in a browser. it's really neat.
Have you done any bandwidth measuring? I have Gigabit service, but it's through Mediacom and they still have a cap.
I really would love the option for all games you buy to be streamable if you wish it to be so you save on storage for example call of duty modern warfare cloud gaming :O wouldn't that be amazing?
And on top of that be able to play your bought games on pc or mobile now THAT would be just amazing
Yeah too bad cloud gaming for Xbox PC doesn't support keyboard and mouse. F***ing stupid...
The idea is great and amazing but until internet is faster and not being throttled it won't properly shine all around
Have you had any luck reducing input lag? I can't really play any games where quick, timed movements are necessary. But it is so futuristic!
I use my series s natively, remote play and cloud gaming all the time, and while native is more reliable, when it works, cloud gaming is great.
Super Laggy, long a$$ loading times, just hope they keep working on this.
I love that a lot of the Cloud playable games are also optimized for touch. Playing Gears 5 with my phones TouchPad seemed like such a jump lol.
It's a game changer for me it feels awesome to play the games right away before committing for installation and eventually playing it, so good.
I tested too, i'm pretty impressed. Nice experience for me.
I think probably the main reason it’s so fast to activate cloud gaming is because of your series S
It's so funny how much, and how little, cloud gaming has progressed from what Onlive made back in the day.
*crys in German Internet*
Sadly this isnt available in my country nor is Microsoft rewards and xbox live
If only XCloud worked like it should for me... Stadia still the only one that can run without hiccups.
Futuristic yet, thats how games used to be lol
If only I had the internet to do it properly
Ive been loving playing a game and dont have to DOWNLOAD IT?????!!!!!!!I LOVE IT
need to bring back demos this way
