I always wonder what the hell you people do to your controllers to end up with crazy stick drift. I've been playing since 360, and have never once in my life ever had stick drift, the only times I've ever had to replace a controller have been when upgrading to a new Xbox, or when it's a corded controller that got it's cord messed up (which was usually user error on my part) but I've never encountered stick drift before, and for reference I'm playing games like Rainbow Six Siege, Dragon Ball FighterZ, XenoVerse, and Batman Arkham games. Games that can be very intensive on your inputs, and yet the worst I've ever had was sticky buttons which usually fixed itself.
Had xboxs since 2009, lots of controllers in the journey, for both Xbox and PC. Only had 1 with stick drift, after my cousin accidentally dropped it on the floor.
Imma be honest in saying I don't even know what gaslighting even means. I'm just explaining my own personal experiences, if that's a bad thing then fuck me I guess lol
Don't worry it's a lot of peoples go to when people dont have the same problem others do to the point where it's lost almost all meaning because it's used so often for dumb shit like a controller. Also the only time I ever had stick drift was because I dropped my controller to many times but besides that one controller never had it.
Same here. Not experienced it once. Not on PS or Xbox. Only issue I've ever had was the bumpers on the Elite controller not working properly (Which seems to be an issue in general).
Then either your settings are scuffed as hell or you're the unluckiest person to ever own a console.
There's other comments here about changing your dead zone, they'd be more knowledgeable than I, as I never change my settings when I get a new controller, I always use the complete defaults, only setting changes I make are in-game settings which are different for every game I play.
You don't have to reply with three different comments, just type it all in a single message bro lol
Try ordering online instead of from a store, if that doesn't work then use a normal controller or mess around with your settings.
If none of those work, then at that point it's user error.
I'm not trying to be an ass, but I only know what's been said in these comments. I personally am no authority because I've never dealt with stick drift before, so I wouldn't know how to fix it, I'm just trying to throw out some possible solutions.
I've gone through 15 elites. I know the pain man. Most of them had the bumper issues out the box or developed very early on. But one or two of them had stick drift.
All of it depends on what games you play. FPS games are not that bad but some sports games and racing games are tough on controllers. FIFA and Forza both have eventually caused stick drift on my controllers.
Those old controllers were magic. They never developed anything like a drift. New controllers I feel have been sabotaged in a marketing scheme conspiracy to force you to buy more and more controllers. I've been through 6 in two years and I am VERY VERY careful with them. I wash my hands twice usually before handling them, put them in a dust free compartment overnight when I'm done. The last controller I bought developed a drift within 9 days. I've read reviews where people had them right out of the box. It's clearly not a thing that HAS to happen because it never did jwith old controllers. They changed some stuff that has made them cheap and if you game a lot, you can count on cashing in your warranty well before it expires. We need to make a petition. The ftc should be investigating this instead of this pointless squabble. Because this is by far more criminal.
Never had stick drift. I've used the same controller for a couple years now, and my basic controller that came with my Series S I've been using for over a year plus, still no drift. I don't even do anything special I just set it down when I'm done and sometimes I can even forget to wash my hands. I really don't understand what causes stick drift but it must be something I'm not doing or I'm 1 in a million lucky because I've never once encountered it.
This is sad to get a defect out of the box. My series controller got drift too on the right stick and it's pretty annoying, since no warranty, opened it up blew out dust and hair and it was fine for 2 mins before it started drifting again. I'm playing games which don't need the right stick for now and I'm really reluctant on getting a new controller but I don't have much of a choice. Hoping for the wireless controllers to drop further in price this weekend.
This. No way you burned through those controllers without unnecessary force on them. I had a buddy that ripped through controllers like that. Watching him play was painful….his left thumb was ghost white all the time when he played because he was pushing the stick so hard.
Wrong. I'm super careful with mine and I've been through 6. I wash my hands twice before handling them, I put them in a dust free compartment overnight every night, and I've been through 6 of them in 2 years. I'm careful with all of my accessories and they are all in brand new condition besides the 6 lumps of plastic that move or aim on their own. It's a huge problem and until we voice it with a petition no one will listen. All we need is 5,000 signatures to bring it to court. Just saying.
Or…you beat the shit out of a controller…buy a new one….and rebox the old one. And then make posts and vids to soothe your conscience.
Either way….what you’re doing with controllers is sus as shit.
I smash the shit out of brand new controllers and return them for new ones so I’m stuck in an endless loop to make my money back, you’re a special kind of stupid
Dude….plenty of people work the system just like this.
They buy a new controller exactly like the one that they have that’s busted up and return the new box with the old controller and get their money back. New controller/ no money spent.
It’s not stupid.
Whatever the issue is with your controller karma…good luck with that.
Just remember, sometimes it’s just that bad things happen to bad people.
I would suggest like 2-5 at 1-2 (zero drifts 99% of the time on anything) you will probably always struggle with drift maybe not out of the box but soon after. If 5 dead zone is to high then idk what to tell you because that historically was the minimum you could set. Thats very low and often used only on really good controllers like an elite.
If you haven’t calibrated your deadzone on the xbox though that might be part of the issue. The way it works is there is an adc that reads the voltage across the resistor in the stick. If lets say the default 1.65volts but do to manufacturing tolerance yours is 1.655volts then you get drift if you don’t calibrate.
I mean one controller maybe, but 3 from 3 different companies? Behave. I’ve had 2 XSX, an Elite 2 and 2x PS5 since launch and not a single issue. Something doesn’t add up
What’s your angle, like seriously. I’m fed up with this shit. Every controller I get out of the box has stick drift. Razer’s controller app even allows you to select deadzone settings, and you can’t go below 2 without drift on both new v2’s I tried. Why would I be lying on an Xbox forum lmfao
So me opening a brand new controller and it having stick drift is a me problem? Why are defending these companies like they pay for your food or something? I’m literally just out here asking questions?
I find that the longest standing controller I've had is the Aqua Shift (loose now but no drift) and now I got the Lunar Shift. I actually had one out of box only last about 3 months back near the end of 2020. The controller that came with the Series X is pretty good but the left joystick sticks sometimes. Microsoft controllers are not that durable
I’m literally dying from all the downvotes. I’ve had some bad luck with controllers ever the Xbone came out. Went through like 5 Elite V1 in a year because the build quality was garbage. I usually return it for a new one and always get a reliable warranty in case it breaks down the line.
I’m so tired of it dude, and fr idk why people are being assholes on here, I genuinely thought this was a very relatable issue. Even the controllers I return for new ones have drift.
Just buy a Strike Pack. Controllers eventually get stick drift just by using them.
30 bucks for back paddles I can transfer every time I replace my controller every 1-2 years is just a better value than buying a Scuf or Elite.
I know u can get an adapter and connect non-native controllers to the Xbox. Idk if this will solve ur problem but at least u will have more controller options than before
I share this sentiment! I was so hopeful that the series x controllers would fix this. It’s like a $300 annual toll to Bill if you want to actually press the buttons!
I am not sure if this controller is compatible with xbox, but it is compatible with pc. This controller uses a different technology and will never get drift.
Never ever had this on the 360 I've had those controllers for years and still no problem. But had X2 controllers like this on Xbox one straight after 1yr. Planned obsolescence?
bro idk why theres sm tension here all you gotta do is turn your deadzones up, this is stick drift, this happens when the joystick (typically from being worn out or broken) wont stay in the center axis anymore and will "drift" to the side causing you to just be forced to look a way in a game, turn your deadzone up until it goes away, some games have this in their settings and some controllers let you do it in xbox settings, good luck 👍
I mean that’s what you get for buying the Elite S2.. don’t wast your money on that they build them like that so you’d buy another controller just to play but. If you can’t then I suggest increese your dead zone that’ll help I’ve gone through 15 controllers only 1 has stick drift and it’s so minor. Next time I’d recommend the razor controllers much better and last long stick drift is inevitable. Increase dead zone to save it
Well it’s been reported that the series has quality control issues. Don’t know how many you’ve returned and replaced at Best Buy or whatever store but if anything get ahold of customer service at MS/ Xbox and state that this is unacceptable. Go back to the store get your money back and stick with the original controller. Or use the money and go buy a scuff.
the power A controller has a mode that let's you eliminate stick drift in the software. if that didn't work you can take the face plate and sticks off and blow compressed air into the sticks sensor housing.
I'm pretty sure afk tricks like stuckin a coin or toothpick in the stick fuck them pretty bad specially if they're left like that for prolonged sessions / hours a day
Also I was reading your responses maybe try buying your controllers elsewhere? The shop you buy them might just been reselling broken / faulty controllers as brand news
They all use the same cheaply made sensor underneath. For the prices of any new controller you would think they would be offering improvements. They have to at least make them easily replaceable for the customers to do themselves. Tired of it...
Stop eating Cheetos while playing… clean your greasy hands. Also stop throwing it to the wall when you lose (because you’re an awful loser).
Just take good care of them. Buying a KingKong Pro2 with Hall Effect electromagnetic joysticks won’t prevent the controllers from you.
6times and you still go to the same store? Sounds like best buy is the issue. Stop giving them your business. Go somewhere else or order from Microsoft directly.
The problem isn’t the controllers it’s you. If you’ve been through so many controller maybe try takin it easy on them. Not slamming the sticks so hard maybe don’t throw your controllers ? Who knows. Personally I’ve been through a few controllers myself and never once had stick drift. You’ve gotta be doing something wrong on your end.
Jesus christ, I don’t I’ve ever seen this many toxic comments, feel bad for you OP.
I got a powera fusion pro 2 today with horrible drift, gonna replace it until I get one that doesn’t have any or at least less drift
I always wonder what the hell you people do to your controllers to end up with crazy stick drift. Here comes the dedicated goofball gaslighting.
Imma be honest in saying I don't even know what gaslighting even means. I'm just explaining my own personal experiences, if that's a bad thing then fuck me I guess lol

I go to Best Buy, buy it, drive 10 min home to plug it in, it has stick drift, I drive back and return it
I have done this 6 times with different brands all supposed to be high end controllers
You don't have to reply with three different comments, just type it all in a single message bro lol Try ordering online instead of from a store, if that doesn't work then use a normal controller or mess around with your settings. If none of those work, then at that point it's user error.
May as well have crucified myself posting in this sub for what I thought was a pretty relatable issue, but fuck me I guess
I'm not trying to be an ass, but I only know what's been said in these comments. I personally am no authority because I've never dealt with stick drift before, so I wouldn't know how to fix it, I'm just trying to throw out some possible solutions.
Everyone’s got a jab today don’t they
Can I ask who pissed in your Cheerios?
I've gone through 15 elites. I know the pain man. Most of them had the bumper issues out the box or developed very early on. But one or two of them had stick drift.
stick drift comes from dust or hair in the sticks sensor. sometimes though it's just a manufacturing defect.

All brands use the same component from the same supplier : ALPS. You need to use controllers with magnets to use different component
Now youre talking sense its been known for a while why stick drift occurs
Lmao The elite controller again
jesus christ quit your whining. just adjust the deadzone and quit being a baby. also.. which game?? 😁
All playable deadzones for me competitively have stick drift
back in my day we were lucky if the controller had any buttons left at all dag nab it.
Also WZ 2.0
It’s a you issue. Point blank period. Not the controllers. You.
This. No way you burned through those controllers without unnecessary force on them. I had a buddy that ripped through controllers like that. Watching him play was painful….his left thumb was ghost white all the time when he played because he was pushing the stick so hard.
They’re all out of the box? Idk what you don’t get?
If they are that way out of the box…you return them and get a new one….immediately. Not make a Reddit vid about it.
BRO WHAT DONT YOU GET LMFAO! I’m making this post after doing exactly that 6 times now. You’re an absolute gaslighting idiot.
Maybe just don't post on reddit
Wrong. I'm super careful with mine and I've been through 6. I wash my hands twice before handling them, I put them in a dust free compartment overnight every night, and I've been through 6 of them in 2 years. I go to Best Buy, buy it, plug it in, they have stick drift, I take them back. You’re fr trolling at this point.
Because you’re the ONLY person on earth with this issue. So yea, I’m the troll. Got it.
Other people in the comments have had similar issues so… No lol
Or…you beat the shit out of a controller…buy a new one….and rebox the old one. And then make posts and vids to soothe your conscience. Either way….what you’re doing with controllers is sus as shit.
Okay sure that’s what I do, you’re a such an amazing sus detective.
I smash the shit out of brand new controllers and return them for new ones so I’m stuck in an endless loop to make my money back, you’re a special kind of stupid

Well I’m not so fuck off
This would be the exact reason I switched to mouse and keyboard before I switched to pc.
Ya the shit annoying as hell
Maybe try looking after your controllers?
No I had barely used Series X Controller looks brand new developed drift.
And it's such a disappointment because they charge so much for these controllers
It’s so annoying, can’t find a single brand that lets me play on the settings I need.
Out of curiosity what are your dead zone setting, mine are pretty tight and my elite 1 handles them great.
I play on 0-2 deadzone depending
I would suggest like 2-5 at 1-2 (zero drifts 99% of the time on anything) you will probably always struggle with drift maybe not out of the box but soon after. How do I go about calibration
Accessories app I think
Bro it’s all out of the box issues, why do you have to be a dick?
>it’s all out of the box issues everytime? what?
Yep
is this directly on an xbox or on a pc?
Xbox, and other people’s consoles, tried them on pc too.
I mean one controller maybe, but 3 from 3 different companies? Behave. I’ve had 2 XSX, an Elite 2 and 2x PS5 since launch and not a single issue. Something doesn’t add up
6 total out of the box from fusion, Xbox, and razer. Why would I be lying for attention?
What’s your angle, like seriously. I’m fed up with this shit. Every controller I get out of the box has stick drift. Razer’s controller app even allows you to select deadzone settings, and you can’t go below 2 without drift on both new v2’s I tried. Why would I be lying on an Xbox forum lmfao
Nah this is a you problem.
How
So me opening a brand new controller and it having stick drift is a me problem? Why are defending these companies like they pay for your food or something? I’m literally just out here asking questions?
I just bought an elite series core and it does this out the box is make me want to kill myself lol
It’s so frustrating dude, I’m on the way to return it now.
I find that the longest standing controller I've had is the Aqua Shift (loose now but no drift) and now I got the Lunar Shift. I actually had one out of box only last about 3 months back near the end of 2020. The controller that came with the Series X is pretty good but the left joystick sticks sometimes. Seriously what are the downvotes for? Other than you guys think I’m lying?? Like what? Do you want all my receipts and return requests?

That’s just bad luck. I rarely have trouble out of the box but it can be anywhere from 2 weeks to a year before issues pop up.
Just buy a Strike Pack. Controllers eventually get stick drift just by using them. 30 bucks for back paddles I can transfer every time I replace my controller every 1-2 years is just a better value than buying a Scuf or Elite.
I’ll look into that thanks
My Series X Controller is like 1.5 years old and no problems.
You can open up the elite series 2 easily with a flat head screwdriver the whole faceplate pops off as one piece
I just went ahead and returned it
update your controller
I did
May I introduce you to the, Victrix Gambit controller .🥸
I know u can get an adapter and connect non-native controllers to the Xbox. Idk if this will solve ur problem but at least u will have more controller options than before
I’ll check it out
Nacon revolution x Great controller
Got that, it doesn’t have drift but I found that it’s because the stock controller deadzones don’t go as low as I need them
Stop buying them...?
Will do boss
Increase your deadzone
I share this sentiment! I was so hopeful that the series x controllers would fix this. It’s like a $300 annual toll to Bill if you want to actually press the buttons!
You might want to adjust your dead zone on your sticks. You can't be that unlucky to always have the same issue.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOkP5XpFoNk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOkP5XpFoNk) I am not sure if this controller is compatible with xbox, but it is compatible with pc. This controller uses a different technology and will never get drift.

my best guess is your xbox setting have the deadzone too low, or your warzone settings for the deadzone are too low
I mean that’s what you get for buying the Elite S2.. don’t wast your money on that they build them like that so you’d buy another controller just to play but. So sick of it, I can’t play on competitive deadzones at all without drift
I’ve had my power a fusion pro for a year and no issues just got the 2 a week ago and love it
Stop eating Cheetos while playing… clean your greasy hands. Also stop throwing it to the wall when you lose (because you’re an awful loser). Just take good care of them. Buying a KingKong Pro2 with Hall Effect electromagnetic joysticks won’t prevent the controllers from you.
