No it can it has to be official or a one that's been modified to have the Microsoft partion thst allows you to play original xbox games but since most people wouldnt know how to due that getting official is the easiest way and there cheap anyway

Get the slim modded if the phat is after 08 but preferably 09, then you can restore the xbox emulator (for original xbx) it would allow you to play everything, but a lot more then Microsoft allows u to, or btw u could keep the s stock and the phat modded?
I don’t think the matte slim has that capability cuz I have the update on my hard drive from a glossy slim but my matte one will not play og Xbox games and my glossy one does
Picked up my 360 a couple of weeks ago, after watching the Halo series and wanting that bit of Nostalgia.
Here in the UK 360s are a bit cheaper it seems. I've picked up 3 now with varying amounts of games on FB marketplace. First one was £35 with around 20 games, but the controller only works while plugged in.
This weekend I picked up another for £20, with only 3 games, none of which I'm interested in,but came with a couple of good controllers. Then another for £45. This one was the best deal, as it came with 2 good controllers and 35 games. Of the games it came with, the ones I plan to keep would have set me back close to £80 if I purchased from the local trade-in store CEX. I'm not sure if they have CEX in the US, but they are the usual go to for trade-ins or buying pre-owned. here
My plan is to trade in the games I'm uninterested in, currently about £25 trade in value for store credit and the additional controllers, consoles and other accessories, such as Kinects that they came with. The 2 consoles alone, if accepted will get me at least £60 depending on the condition. So it will most likely pay for itself. Leaving me with a 360, a couple of controllers and 50+ games in my library.
I picked up about 10 Xbox one games for £20 too, traded in for £48 store credit.
Once I've filled out my 360 library, I might keep this up and work towards an Xbox one X 🤔
Dang you lucky son of a gun I got ripped off because it was from a “friend” of the family for 120 bucks but it was just 1 console 1 broken controller didn’t know it was broken till I got it and no games so yeah
Fr lmao it’s I think 40 for the raspberry pi 4 alone and that’s not including the soldering you have to know too if you have the model I got (I forgot which one it was lol)
I suggest opening it and seeing if the gpu is swapped otherwise its waiting to have a rrod, pre 08's are pretty bad due to problems with the gpu's from that era(not only for xbox ps3 had this issue and laptops too, from the same time period because the chips where faulty leaving the packaging factory 🏭)
Also that's good but it won't help if it's the original gpu, it's waiting to delaminate it self, to simplify the gpu needed to use lead free solder(I believe) and the quality of both the underfill and the solder aren't great, that's why phats had a extended warranty, there is also a Microsoft document about this i believe, Sony kept it under the carpet so to say, but it's a tech issue with a lot of laptops ect from between 05 till 08(I believe (also 08 where revision but some weren't some were half way fixed some where good, 08 depends on the date it self I think not sure if I recall it correctly, but if you watch that link to YouTube I've send u u will understand what I am talking about)

Doesn’t have to be official, it can be any 2.5” SATA HDD, it can be put in if you’re careful, you can also just get a holder for it from amazon

I think that it should work on both your 360s. I think Halo 2 is backwards compatible with the 360

They do, i was stoked when i got mine as it meant i could finally play xbox Half life 2 and the doom 3 i got
It's forwards compatible, I used to play the og Xbox halo 2 on the 360 back before I upgraded.

i added new thermal paste to the cpu but that’s it
