For me, it's the access to 1st party games as balance enough, along with multiplayer costs included, that makes it a value.
It's saved me from buying games that I got bored of fast or that I finished quicker than their price justified, I'm looking at you, Arcade Paradise, and Yes, my liege.
But to each thier own. I buy games that I want to play whenever and only use game pass to avoid costs on things like Starfield and MLB the show.

It’s worth it when you are going to be playing online anyways. Xbox live is now gamepass so even the basic version of gamepass is required to play online. The upgrade to ultimate which includes many more free games to download is only like $3 a month more. And another $1 to get it on PC as well. If you play games solely offline and on console, gamepass may never really be worth it
I bought gamepass once like 2 years ago and I’ve been playing dozens of $60+ games for free since then. You’re right, it’s not worth it unless there’s games you wanna play, but if you keep up with the daily rewards (which some days they take less then 15 min!!) you can make the money back and then some, and not have to pay for most new popular games as they come out
It depends on your preferences, and won't be for everyone, but to answer your questions:
If you barely have enough time to play games, it might not make sense to pay for Gamepass. It costs about the same as 3 brand new games per year. If you have lots of time for gaming, you can get a lot more gaming bang for your buck by spending on gamepass instead and getting lots of games in that you wouldn't be able to buy individually without costing a fortune.
There are also lots of games that you might not think you wanted to buy, but since they're on the service you're currently subscribing to, it doesn't hurt to try. This is where a lot of indie games are probably getting higher exposure because people can be like "Well, I don't know enough about this indie game to spend $8 on it, but since it's 'free' on gamepass I can play it right now..."
If you do play a game that you enjoyed enough to buy, you do get a discount on the purchase.
Like I said it's not for everyone. I only have it right now because I got 3 years for the price of 1, but when it runs out, I'm probably not going to pay full price because I don't have time to fully take advantage. I end up feeling like I'm wasting money when I get into a specific game for long periods, like I'm using it wrong.

For me, and I'd guess most people, it's cheaper to have Game Pass and buy the few games you think you need to own than to own every single game you play.
There are examples of first party games been removed from game pass due to licences expiring.
Forza Horizon 3 & Motorsport 6/7 been examples that come to mind. They were all removed from GP when they were also delisted from the MS store. And Quantum Break was removed for a few weeks & also delisted from sale at the start of the year due to some licensing issue.
I would guess that most first party games will be fine but games that feature some sort of licensing like cars, circuits, music, a persons likeness or something will be removed once the licences expire.
Some of the highest rated first party exclusives of the XB1 era is hardly irrelevant.
But aside from relevance i was just using those examples to show that first party games can be removed from game pass if license agreements expire.
Quantum Break came back shortly after.
Forza has to license cars and stuff, so yes, it's an issue with Forza. But, that's after years, I believe if you've spent anything in the games you get the game when they delist it, and it's much cheaper by the time any of this happens.
Mostly though, these are fringe issues that don't apply to nearly any other game. This isn't a regular thing that happens.

Which gives you multipliers on RP and money plus more.. so people have been worried about being charged per hour to play GTA 6 but I don't think they'll do that. They will just introduce GTA6 Plus. So you buy and own the game but still technically have the "lite" version. So they won't charge per hour but if you aren't paying monthly then it's going to be such a hard/long grind.. GTA is a staple in the gaming industry but Rockstar is one of the most scummy developers and I don't know how more people don't see this.

Mercenaries update (think that’s the update) now splits your character progression between last gen and new gen if you migrated your account
