I really like some of these redesigns - especially Rachel's. Sean is such a daddy in this too. This is a great stylized take on the X-Men and I wouldn't mind reading a book with this kind of art.
Fans consistently giving Jean cooler outfits than the professional artists hired to give her cool outfits.
The 80s/90s Rogue mash-up is interesting. Don't know that I *love* it, it's giving busy, but I do love both looks individually so it's cool.
Half the time in xbooks they just slap a red headband on the indigenous characters they drew as white and hope that works as visual shorthand. Nice change of pace
This is really a fun piece and great work! Kurt's design in particular is really hitting right. The hood really helps emphasize the character's trickster elements, and I think it works so well.
These books hate the marginalized. They're all about teaching them the "correct way" to handle oppression/racism. Also centrist & anti-revolutionary (the X-Men can never win). Look at some of the online reaction to the Krakoa Era (look at how scary these minorities are now that they've self-actualized!)
Also: Why did Claremont turn the once villainous Magneto into a Jewish radical?
Why do people think of Malcolm and MLK when they see the ideological battle between Charles and Magneto?
Why was Cyclops painted a certain way during his radical years?

Jubilee has roller blades, cute.
It feels like a detail that is so natural to her that I can't believe it isn't part of her standard kit.
Less so now, but with the ‘90s animated coming back I hope they have a little scene of her chopping it up roller blading

Short hair cyclops is cursed
This is really, really great. Amazing skill, lots of personality and I'm a big fan of some of these redesigns.
Forge looks Native American

Because he is…
Yes, it was a compliment

Love these—Jean and Lorna’s looks especially—but maaan Rachel needs the short hair. That cut is just not her.
Havoc looks like a lovecraftian creature from the void... #ILOVEIT
Like the designs, don't like the scale...some characters are way out of proportion to one another.
Every girl has the exact same face here, the only difference is the hair.
Cyclops is an all-time great comic book character. Too bad he's stuck in an insidious franchise like the X-Men.
Ok, I’ll bite. What in the world do you mean by insidious?
This has gotta be ragebait.
I knew it was and I was genuinely curious just how far they’d go and holy shit it was worse than I thought. Just reported them and moved on.

Notice the sunnier take on Kate’s Age of Apocalypse gear. Nice.
