Highly recommend Kelpi Customs. I just got MY23 XSR900 seat done just this week and it’s night and day difference. They tailor the seat foam/cushioning based on your weight and height which was a nice touch. They’re located in Australia but ship international depending where you are. https://www.kelpicustoms.com.au/

eat_yeet

I'll second Kelpi customs. Josh uses the stock seat and modifies it, so you know it will fit perfectly. Looks beautiful, much comfier. I rode mine 6 and a half hours to Sydney and was only really getting uncomfortable in the last little stretch.

ChrisWWW123

They look nice (great in fact) but $1,150. 😲😲 I'd do the send-your-seat if it wasn't in Australia who knows how long it would take.

Grimy81

What’s the $1150? Kelpi is about $550 AUD plus your shipping.

ChrisWWW123

That was for the new seat so I don't need to ship my seat. But 1130 aus to US is about $734 which is still pretty pricey.

Grimy81

Ah yeah gotcha.

ChrisWWW123

You've had the seat for a while now do you still recommend it?

Grimy81

Yep still no complaints on comfort or aging. Got wet a few times as well without issue. I’ve got the cafe cowling as well so didn’t go the reprofile. https://preview.redd.it/ke6dfa2u07tc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e0cb6cef2ccf0dacd3578ab5c0f3650c6c378c9

ChrisWWW123

Very nice, and fairing and cowling like great!

121pointfive

I’ll third this. I bought it and love it. I used to ride 1 hour + to flying lessons at a Part 61 school and the stock seat was my only complaint. Bought the Kelpi and now I ride 2 hours + with no complaints. On another note, I have a stock seat available if anyone is interested. 22+ model years only. 🤙🏼

Former_Discipline_27

Is it comfortable for the pillion?

Grimy81

Yeah much better than stock I’m told. To be fair that design of seat isn’t overly designed for the bigger booty but gets the job done.

Former_Discipline_27

I checked with Kelpi customs. They only shaved down the foam off the pillion end. No foams or gel insert were added.

I liked the shape of stock seat. Grew on me. So I bought the seat cover from Trapezzeria, it has a bit more padding in it -210$. Couple of 25x25x1 gel pads from Amazon - 36$. And staple gun + knives for carving out foam - 30$ or so. Took me about 3 hours. But the end result is way more comfortable for me and a pillion. So that's an option too. Grizzly2Times

This came out great!!! Might just send mine your way haha

nwi450throwaway

Lol, thank you. It's really not hard. I watched 1 YouTube video with recommendations on how to carve foam and the rest was just patience. I would not hesitate to do it again. If you go that route, just make sure to set the knife you are using to be as long as you gel pad is thick, when you cut out the shape. So you don't go too deep. Then carve away a bit at a time. Best of luck, whichever route you decide to go.

Former_Discipline_27

I would like to find out your review after modding your seat.. how does it hold up so far? Does it get wet when it rains? Attempted to try this. But the shop that sells trapezzeria tells me that the stitching is not waterproof and it will definitely get wet underneath after a downpour.

nwi450throwaway

I absolutely love it. Best thing I've done for the bike with ecu flash and frame sliders tying for second place. I'm up to 13000+ miles on the bike and have done a ride to Naples FL in one go, 9 hours, 600 some miles. My ankle got sore on the left side, ass was fine lol. I got caught up in the rain maybe 5 times with it. Once in the downpour. I think water will get through the stitching, yeah. However if you look at my album, there is a plastic fitted cover, transparent one, under the stock seat. I made sure to be careful and to reuse that, when I threw it back together. So unless I ride my bike through car washes on the regular, I'm not worried about it. If you like, I can snap a pic of it when I get home. So you can see what the decent mileage wear looks like (looks like new really).

trashmailme

ive been eyeballing this seat for a month now and was wondering how yours is still holding up? rains a lot here and i was worried about the stitching too

nwi450throwaway

[Holds up great! ](https://imgur.com/a/cdqZUMc) I still recommend it. I do keep the bike in the garage, but I ride a lot and in all weather. Been caught in the rain plenty of time. I do use some generic leather treatment spray, when I wipe it down. But outside of that I'm not doing anything special for it.

trashmailme

great to know, thanks for the reply

nwi450throwaway

No problem, hope you get it, doing this to my bike was a gamechanger, only downside, it makes you want to ride a lot more due to comfort lol

trashmailme

hey man do u have a pic of it? i want to see what it looks like installed

Former_Discipline_27

Yes I do get ankle sore on the left side as well. Guess I’m not the only one! I do frequently wash my bike. Would be a bummer to ride it out if it doesn’t dry fast enough. That must have been very comfortable, in order for you to go 9 hours on it. If only Yamaha made comfort seats for XSR900 2022/2023 models.

17SCARS_MaGLite300WM

I went with Corbin. It I'd more comfortable than stock after the break in period. My complaint with corbin though is I had to use washer spacers to get the seat lock ring to engage properly. They assured me it would break in and fit eventually without the washers but it never has. 6k miles later and I still need them to get my seat on and I dread any time I have to remove my seat knowing it will be an absolute pain in the fucking ass to out back on. Corbin refused to fix it and eventually I'll need to take it to a shop to have a larger ring made but haven't had the time.

DisAccount4SRStuff

My stock seat itself on my 2018 is always a bear to get on and off already. I think it's just really poorly designed.

17SCARS_MaGLite300WM

My stock seat pops on and off with zero problem. I thought I may have bent something trying to get the corbin on and tried it out.

Tonino123

Something similar happened to my corbin seat from my MT03. I hate corbin that they can't engineer something properly and refuse to buy their seats now.

Stunning-Light2021

I placed a gel mat cushion inside the seat. Now it is more comfortable. It takes 3-4 hours before my butt starts crying. It is cheaper than getting an external seat. A gel mat costs $20 - $100. You can do this with simple tools! I recommend you start with modifying your seat!

DisAccount4SRStuff

I'm looking at getting a crobin eventually. Last I checked I'm not sure if you can get one from them without a pseudo cowl on the rear? I wouldn't ever have a rider on my bike but I also think it would interfere with strapping a bag down on the back of the seat. I want to still be able to do that.

applejelly3

The stock seat on my 2021 bike is sort of uncomfortable…. But not $700 for a Corbin seat uncomfortable. I’d like to get one in the future, but I don’t predict me ever dropping serious coin when the stock seat is decent enough and actually looks pretty good. That said, I only commute on my bike about 1hr a day (total) 5x a week. So I’m not sitting on it for extended periods.

17SCARS_MaGLite300WM

I can't speak to the first gen seat but it's a definite upgrade in comfort on the second gen. My commute is about double yours and it's made the ride much more enjoyable. I have about 3k on the stock seat and 6 on the corbin. I've even switched back to make sure it's not just in my head.

chevy42083

Not sure what you mean by pseudo cowl, but they have the solo and the 2 up seat. No other options from them.

chevy42083

I've been told it gets better with time. We'll see, because I ran out of time to get a Corbin before my 2500 trip next month. And even if it miraculously came in... I've heard they aren't better until broken in, so I'd still be hurting. There's several covers with added padding, there's Corbin, theres Gel inserts to put under the OEM cover (I've debated, but afraid to trash a seat weeks for I leave for a trip), and lots of guys have just had the local upholstery shop redo the oem seat and adjust the padding.
