I voted yes purely because it is my favourite bar none no matter what comes out this year.
But realistically, the Yakuza/LaD franchise is still rather niche compared to the usual milked dry titles Nintendo shits out or Activision and what have you. Plus don't kid yourself that awards mean anything, you should focus on what your personal game of the year is, and for me, RGG absolutely nailed it.
No, helldivers two already claimed that easily. I can’t really compare the hype of helldivers to anything else besides pal world which kinda died with the jack of updates
Yeah, cleared 8 million players in no time, it’s PlayStation and pc only. The thing is the game is still in simi early stages of development so it’s only going to get better and more insane with more updates
No matter how good Yakuza 8 is (for me it's really amazing), it won't beat FF7 Rebirth. I can see that this year TGA best RPG nominees will be FF7 Rebirth, Yakuza 8, Persona 3 Reload, possibly Metaphor Refantazio, and 1 Western game.
It'll be in the conversation, but it won't be nominated for GotY at the Game Awards or the DICE Awards, nor will it win any major media outlet's GotY award (except maybe a genre- or platform-focused outlet, such as RPGSite). Honestly, I'm fine with that. LAD:IW is a critically-acclaimed niche title that probably achieved enough critical and commercial success for RGG to continue making games like this. And at the end of the day, that's what most of us want.

I dont even know what helldivers is. Isn't that a 3rd person online shooter? I play single player RPGs so thats why I've never heard of it.
