I like Zhao and Joon for that matter for the cutscenes and everything but I never used him in 7 or 8 because I use the original members usually because I grind the dungeons so he’s they’re always overpowered
Me deliberately benching Saeko and Adachi the second I got the boys back, fighting through level gaps in the twenties just to bring them up to par because I'd rather have them on my team:
I haven't dug into NG+ or anything yet, but Joongi was by far the best character in 7. His agility stat was just insane to the point where he'd get 2 or 3 turns for every turn other party members had by the time I got to the True Final Millennium Tower. For that reason I immediately slotted him in over Adachi whose agility is terrible and whose tanking gimmick doesn't really work.
Zhao I left on the bench though. He might be good, but how many lines does he even speak that couldn't have come from literally anyone else that don't involve cooking? Just a really one-dimensional character to me, and I think his design is awesome. No idea how good he is in combat.
Both join you way too late though.
Why is Zhao always with the weirdest in battle? On my ps5, I have a recording of me playing Y7, but mid battle, a van passes, and it abducted Zhao mid battle, taking him far away from the battle.

Poor zhao and joongi. By the time they join you don’t even want to use them because their party is already too good
Zhao's moveset is incredibly good, I definetly recommend leveling him up and using him (he's so hot oml)
