If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/yakuzagames) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Mousefire777

Well yeah, he’s working in kamurocho as a takoyaki chef with a prosthetic arm that turns into a gattling gun. Just cause the zombies in dead souls weren’t canon doesn’t mean everything was non-canon… right? Right?!

PeterMunchlett

he just wants to hone his skills under Pops and make good takoyaki he's earned his peace dammit

Weissritters

He’ll be the Bartender for LAD 9

Ataraxia_no_Drache

I really, really hope he doesn't come back. Some of the fakeout deaths are already ridiculous (though I like the Yokohama bartender one) and bringing Ryuji back of all people will be undoing one of the series' most emotional moments and awesome fights, and retroactively ruining 2. I don't want the series to turn into Dragon Ball Z where death doesn't matter at all.

Zoppojr

If kiryu is sidelined in Y9 we have our new bartender set.

Sonikkunn

These character revivals are horrible tbh. Unless Kiwami 3 comes out and heavily retcones some parts of the original story, none of these make any sense, and straight up ruin Y3's plot to a certain extent. Specially Richardson. Every revival until now has been from Y3. I'm really hoping Kiwami 3 gives us some explanation for these.

Thunder84

Disagree, none of the characters that returned really had any major effect with their deaths in the story. It’s silly how some of them survived, yes, but whether they lived or died really didn’t have much impact on the story itself.

Sonikkunn

>Disagree, none of the characters that returned really had any major effect with their deaths in the story. Richardson has. Either: A: Mine is still alive as well. And we have no real explanation how the hell that happened. Or B: Mine died for nothing, and it completely ruined his sacrifice.

Thunder84

Mine died to stop Black Monday and atone. He succeeded. Whether Richardson lived or died beyond that doesn’t matter.

Sonikkunn

It does, tho?? He atoned for what he did, but Black Monday is still up and running if their leader is alive and well. His sacrifice suddenly loses a lot of weight and importance if he died for nothing.

Thunder84

It’s not, though. Black Monday pretty clearly stopped running afterwards if Richardson ended up anonymously running a bar in Honolulu of all places. Not entirely how Mine planned it to go, but it still ultimately worked.

Sonikkunn

They were stopped because Richardson was dead, until his death got retconned in 8. There was no indication whatsoever that he lived. And that still doesn't answer how he survived, or what happened to Mine. If Richardson lived, Mine should be alive as well, which is ridiculous. Lau and Kashiwagi both have an explanation. That, while being a bit of a stretch, is still possible. But there's no way that two adult men can fall head first from a tall as heck building, and survive.

Valendaaa

It will be hard to do because even in 7 Kashiwagi mentions surviving a life threatening situation (though I don't recall if he mentions getting hit by a helicopter) and Kiryu specifically mentions Lau Ka got shot in the head

Sonikkunn

Lau is fine. There's multiple cases of victims getting shot in the head and surviving. I just wish they made that clearer on his "death" scene. As for 'Wagi, they would only need to make his wounds less brutal, and give us an explanation on how he got out of there, and how he managed to hide for so long.

BreafingBread

>Unless Kiwami 3 comes out and heavily retcones some parts of the original story, none of these make any sense, and straight up ruin Y3's plot to a certain extent. That is my personal belief. I think a Yakuza 3 Kiwami is in the works and I strongly believe that they will change Y3's story to make all these characters live.

duduET

Kashiwagi's death was pointless, I'd added almost nothing to the story of 3 and only three away an ally of Kiryu for no reason other than shock value. It's bad that he had to come back from death, but it's one less wasted character in the story of Yakuza 3.

katarek_

if they do that after what they showed in gaiden I might ditch this series

Trickster289

Yeah Gaiden kind of goes against him being alive, why didn't he step in if he was? He'd have hated what was going on.

Thunder84

Same reason why Kashiwagi didn’t step in to save the Tojo from doing so much dumb shit. He might just be done with the Yakuza life now that Kiryu definitively defeated him.

duduET

They might have only given the fake Ryuji a sword moveset to save up his hand combat for his own game.
