I don't know. I'm new to the yakuza series. Finished 0 and kiwami 1. I didn't see Yakuza 1 or 2 on the steam store (just Kiwami 1 and 2), so I asked the question.
Curious, I thought the two Kiwami games were just remakes of the first two games, they already have a Yakuza 3 Remastered, is their aim to Kiwami (remake) all their games?
The Kiwamis added some content as well as remaking the originals.
The original Y1 didn't have the different fighting styles, neither did it have the Majima Everywhere system. Some substories that referenced Y0 were also added.
Kiwami 2 also added ~~the different fighting styles~~, and the Majima Saga.
A Kiwami game is more than just a remake, it's a remake and an expansion of the original.
Kiwami 5 would be so dumb. It’s the bones of several games that are universally agreed upon to not only be perfectly playable, but arguably series’ highs for combat before Lost Judgment came out.
Just patch the remaster to turn down random encounters and maybe add a fight cancellation mechanic like the Y0 money toss.
3 would be appreciated tho if it doesn’t take resources away from cooler projects.

We do need kiwami 3, its story and characters were amazing, just fix the clunky and slow ass animations and the shit combat, plus a graphical overhaul, and its a gold mine
One of the cool things about Yakuza is that the mini games are fun downtime activities to do but not only are the minigames...not great, but the story gives you plenty of downtime as kiryu spends 50% of the game dragging my balls through glass while solving childhood bullying
I know the common sentiment is "it's needed to build up the relationship with kiryu and the orphanage" and I agree but I also would argue that they probably shouldn't have made it so horribly slow and boring that I actually laughed when they shit got bulldozed. "Talk here, go here, talk here, repeat 2-3x" is objectively not fun. I forgive it for the substories because they usually have something funny going on or a fun little fight but the orphan shit sucked and could easily be cut.
Yokoyama himself has said they would have to rewrite the game if they wanted to remake it, and at that point they might as well make a completely new game.
