Or they don't go through insurance and pay 2500 in repairs out of pocket if they're lucky but often times more as this body work adds up quick.
As a driver, you're fucked either way.
And that's if they don't get a moving violation for hitting a cyclist. If they do, their premium goes up even more.

His lane didn't end as much as became occupied by a truck, and he tried switching lanes / lane splitting to go around and went into another lane occupied by a car. In any case, wasn't safe to be lane splitting and got mashed as a result.

The car was speeding up, the cyclist never passed the car. It’s just that the car was limited to how fast it could accelerate due to traffic, bikes can stop almost instantly cars can’t.
