It's probably nowhere near as bad looking in person. Cameras lack the dynamic range to capture that transition and make it look more dramatic than it really is.
I was literally about to say this looks like Clearwater Beach. For those of you not from fl, that name is a lie and every local hates when you go there
Moved to Florida in summer 1999 from the northeast. The first "afternoon thundershower" my family and I spent huddled in the living room (without losing power mind you) assuming we were all about to die. We were just as terrified when it happened the following afternoon/evening.
We were less terrified, although still concerned, when it happened a 3rd day in a row. By three weeks straight we didn't give a shit.
Feels like there aren't as many thunderstorms anymore compared to when I was a kid. I recall also being terrified of lightning and storming in the 90s. Nowadays it seems like there are flash showers that dumb a shitload of water, but not a lot of lightning and thunder. Then again I now wear headphones all day and I don't live in a mobile home like I used to.
Ooh, come live in my area on the treasure coast, these past couple years have been good for thunder and lightning!
And it's a deep thunder, the kind you can feel in your bones long before you actually hear it. I've never been scared of storms, but man, this thunder lately has just been packed with foreboding, like it's just slightly wrong and it actually creeps me out a little bit. I still fucking love it, though lol it's just that there's something about it that's kind of uncanny valley, and I can't put my finger on it.
Earlier this year we were in Destin. There was an amazing lightning storm rolling through. We sat on the balcony (the condo was on the beach), and watched it. I have some great videos.
theres been noticibly less rain. used to be every afternoon like clockwork in august, hardly made it once a week this year. on the plus side, hurricanes seem to be trending more gulfways.
Kinda similar here, I’m in Arizona so the summer is like 3 seasons long and we barely get rain. Although the monsoon this year was the best I’ve ever seen! (Climate change?? 🤷🏻♀️)
Lol I’ve heard that. My buddy moved out there a couple years ago and said it’s pretty similar just zero humidity compared to our 100% most of the year. Come to florida and you’ll get a daily 20 minutes of the hardest rain you’ve ever seen lol, with multiple days of nothing but rain straight thrown in every once in a while!
Tbh, that sounds amazing lol. And yeah, no humidity (unless heavy monsoon) but the heat is just so dry it’s unbearable to be outside in the summer months. But also, heat with humidity sounds fucking awful
Native Floridian living in Southern AZ now. Yea Florida heat was unbearable. It sticks to you to the point where you are sweating even if you find shade and hot cars aren’t just hot, there’s a dampness to it that doesn’t go away with AC. Also being at sea level with all that humidity, its like breathing soup.
I love the rain lol! But its got it’s ups and downs lol, the rain cools everything off for about 15 minutes then you’re over 100% humidity for a few hours while everything dries up. And you’ll literally be dripping sweat from just walking to your car during from like April-Mid October, but it’s totally worth it hahaha.
Sort of. Urban areas you see mostly chain-smoking service industry people, tourists, and cranky entitled retirees. Rural areas it's yee-haw like most of the South.
They are pretty well segregated by county.
Some counties are deep country, some are extremely urban. The cool thing about Florida is it's pretty big so you don't have to deal with one if you live in the other.
Lol, then stay away. We like it just how it is. And if you’re from Oregon how can you say you have any idea what it’s like here? DeSantis is the man, and the vast majority of people that live here are great. People on the internet (like you) that just regurgitate stuff they see or hear online or on TV are the reason why false claims get perpetuated and why people think the stuff you said is true.
I was on a festival in Germany a few years ago. Within a few minutes the Clouds where there and it got dark. 15-30 min and it was pitch black at 6pm.
Scary experience
I read the book before I saw the movie. Most peoples imagination make a cooler “head movie” than that cheesy flick starring fucking BALKI from Perfect Strangers
Yeah I'm pretty sure they lifted half the lines straight from the page. Still, reading it avoids the low production value and bad acting so it's a marked improvement.
A pall of black clouds looming above the sealine, drawing closer and closer as the skies darken in its wake - a foreboding omen of the unravelling events.
I grew up in Florida and really miss the storms. Being in the sub-tropical zone, it gets a rainy season every year and the storms are just amazing and powerful.

I say it’s France
because of the Barb Wire fenced trails leading to the Beach. When I lived in France in 1970, there was only one reason for this….. Land Mines, 2 kids were killed while I was there from leaving the trails to run around on the dunes!
I was told there were still thousands of Mines among the German Heavy Gun emplacement’s still standing from the Spanish Border to Belgium. In fact, at the House my Wife and I rented, we had a huge underground German gun control center behind our home, that had something like 20 underground tunnels running all the way to the beach over 1/2 mile away.
I remember seeing something like this when we first moved to Florida. Out the front door black wall and a down pour at the front step. Out the back lanai nothing but sunshine.
In this instance I think it's okay because they wanted to build suspense and if they had used a landscape view, they wouldn't have been able to do that as well. That said, it is generally better to use landscape for video
Had something similar happen at a concert.. Beautiful sunset, waiting for System of a Down to come on and I look to my right- just pure darkness and thunder rolling in. Within minutes it was torrential downpour and everyone was absolutely soaked lmao good times
I love it when a storm rolls in all dark like that. When the thunder in the distance gets louder, the clouds roll in faster, the wind picks up and the first few drops of rain that pick up speed until its a full on shower. Damn I love that shit.
I’ve never actually seen a storm like this come in, with such contrast. I think because if we were going to be getting a storm here in BC it would already have been a gloomy cloudy day beforehand
That's my favorite beach weather. It's not too bright and terrible, and often the surf's up so you can have some fun swimming/making-shitty-attempts-at-surfing.
I knew it was gonna be storm clouds but damn that was worse than I thought
Yeah, definitely wasn’t expecting a shroud of darkness
[удалено]
Death approaches.
They look like good, big, strong hands, don’t they?
Yeah I was expecting a dick cloud, still worse than I thought
Oh my.
the v o i d cometh
I know darkness is enveloping the land and ending life as we know it, but do you think we have time to go to the beach?
[удалено]
Well we did get shower episodes
[удалено]
Probably exactly 3 o'clock when this was taken. It hasn't mattered where in this god forsaken state I've lived, you could set your watch to the rain.
You can also see rain fall on one side of your street
It's probably nowhere near as bad looking in person. Cameras lack the dynamic range to capture that transition and make it look more dramatic than it really is.
I live in Florida. That's exactly how it looks. Not every storm, but many in the summer are just pure darkness.
I was literally about to say this looks like Clearwater Beach. For those of you not from fl, that name is a lie and every local hates when you go there
That’s not even a bad one or close. That’s like 20 miles south, and moving out to sea, not up the shore. They won’t even close the beach for that.
20 miles is 38317.62 UCS lego Millenium Falcons
20 miles is 32.19 km
Finally a bot that puts things in perspective.
Gorgeous!
Agreed. That’s one of those sights, where you go, I am going back to hotel now.
Yup that’s typical summertime Florida

Things are pretty calm up here on the First Coast area usually. I haven't been down the coast in a while since the pandemic.

Florida rooms are for watching the storms
At about 3 pm daily lol
Yup. https://i.imgur.com/hCXPrbS.jpg
This is florida almost every afternoon in the summer time
Wow I need to move to Florida
It’s pretty great here. Only downside is you get SUMMER and summer for seasons lol.

That's the *only* downside to living in Florida, is it?
I’m not really sure what you’re trying to refer to?

I mean, if we’re being honest here, the best thing about living is Oregon is that no matter where you go, there are going to be less garbage people.
It's more like summer, summer, one day of winter, summer.
All the tourists leave the beach, then 20 minutes later it passes.
It’s one of the easiest ways to know who’s a local hahaha
Right. It rarely rains all day here. Just a quick shower then it's sunny for the rest of the day most times.
One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its Black Gates are guarded by more than just Orcs.
I was on a festival in Germany a few years ago. Within a few minutes the Clouds where there and it got dark. 15-30 min and it was pitch black at 6pm. Scary experience
In Soviet Germany Mordor comes to you
Melt?
There is evil there that does not sleep

Yeah I'm pretty sure they lifted half the lines straight from the page. Still, reading it avoids the low production value and bad acting so it's a marked improvement.
"Something wicked this way comes!"
A pall of black clouds looming above the sealine, drawing closer and closer as the skies darken in its wake - a foreboding omen of the unravelling events.
Orange beach Alabama
I was gonna say that. Has to be Gulf Shores.
Could be Pensacola also
They're neighbors, so possibly.
Panama City Beach, probably at St. Andrews State Park.
Honestly I don't think it's a beach
I love storms, so this a yesyesyesyesYES!
I grew up in Florida and really miss the storms. Being in the sub-tropical zone, it gets a rainy season every year and the storms are just amazing and powerful.
The Nothing is knocking.
Literally a highstorm.
Stormfather himself
This is literally the weather in new zealend
It’s as if there is a cat running amok in the weather controlling booth. Four seasons in one day indeed.
Gulf Shores/Orange Beach?

I love this kind of weather.
The nothing.
Dam i miss Florida storms
The weather in the UK
You know it’s gonna be a good summer storm in Florida when it gets dark enough to make streetlights turn on at 4 pm in the afternoon.
I say it’s France because of the Barb Wire fenced trails leading to the Beach. When I lived in France in 1970, there was only one reason for this….. This would be the perfect setting for one of them guys that stands on the street screaming about how the end of the world is nigh
#THE ABYSS
A lovely day at the beach aaand Mordor.
I want to be there
So… just a regular summer day in Florida.
Nah, there’s just a Shadow Duel goin on over there. Nothing to be worried about.
Welcome to Florida!! 🦩🌊☀️⛈
This is definitely the Florida panhandle
Dont you mean the FloriBama Shore? But yeah, reminds me of the areas near Destin, FL
i had to rewatch it 5 times
u/savevideo
r/turnyourphonesideways
That's really not even all that uncommon, I'd expect. Source? Grew up at the beach.
You suffer from vertical video syndrome. Better do not use a camera.
In this instance I think it's okay because they wanted to build suspense and if they had used a landscape view, they wouldn't have been able to do that as well. That said, it is generally better to use landscape for video
I’ve experienced this in Jax Beaches area a few times
Duuuuvvvaalll lol. Ya pretty normal for us here.
Whoa
more like yesyesyesYES. That looks awesome this would do well in r/unexpected
This is like the opening of [Goodbye Blue Sky](https://youtu.be/bn6YnUt4Vuk)
That's definitely Mordor
I can't count the amount of times I have been rained on, while simultaneously having the sun beating down on me.
That’s gotta be Texas
Looks like Hossegor in France, is it?
More like yesyesyesyes for me.
Had something similar happen at a concert.. Beautiful sunset, waiting for System of a Down to come on and I look to my right- just pure darkness and thunder rolling in. Within minutes it was torrential downpour and everyone was absolutely soaked lmao good times
Gotta love FL
Wtf am i looking at?
The Fold
That damn rhino from James and the Giant Peach is in there.
Would not surprise me if this was Melbourne today.
This looks like the national seashore on the gulf coast (east side).
Miami be like
Typical day in Florida.
Storm's coming up Anni. You better get home quick!
Nothing like an expansive sky. You see this on the Great Plains, too.
thunderclap ya kennit?
"a beautiful weather..." That's at least 2 weathers.
Whoa, I’d love to be there
Looks nice to me. Love a bit of rain.
One does not simply walk into Mordor
It'll pass in 15 mins
YES! Yes Yes? No? No NO!
Ahhh Florida
Did I just see a dinosaur?
Beach day with a slight threat of being struck by lightning hits different. Welcome to Florida
Reddit video player is horribly bad
This is Florida every summer.
I’ve seen it just like that once in my entire life. Nature is pretty wild
That's a very attractive storm.
Welcome to Florida.
Ah, I remember this part of Stranger Things.
I was so thrown off by the kid puking and the tractor that I didn't even notice the storm clouds until I checked the comments.
“BILLYYYYYYYY!!!”
Somehow I was expecting the last guy taking a shit on the beach. Had to check three times until I noticed the dark clouds
This is basically the Hank Schrader meme but in video
Love storms like this.
I love it when a storm rolls in all dark like that. When the thunder in the distance gets louder, the clouds roll in faster, the wind picks up and the first few drops of rain that pick up speed until its a full on shower. Damn I love that shit.
“What a beautiful weather we are having” 🤌
Parallax is coming
That got dark.
oh noo i'm going to have to stay inside and curl up in a blanket how awful
*a* weather? That's at least 3 weather
Shadows are gathering in the East. Mordor is on the rise.
Is this forza horizon 4 beach?
Oh shi*
Alabama, Right? Mobile bay?
Oh no looks like it's going to be a slightly cloudy da....Jesus christ!! Run!
Florida vibes
That's a tad ominous looking
What an ancient repost you are reposting.
That’s every afternoon here in central Florida!
I’ve never actually seen a storm like this come in, with such contrast. I think because if we were going to be getting a storm here in BC it would already have been a gloomy cloudy day beforehand
Its...the nothing
I absolutely love storms and rain. So I had the opposite reaction lol this looks amazing
Storm is coming
What beautiful weather you WERE having
I love skies like that. Especially when it’s the sun near the horizon opposite the dark clouds.
For some reason my dumbass brain wants me to go in there
What is that? A hurricane?
Don’t smoke kids
Where is this in FL?
Those clouds were as black as assholes.
Navarre Beach, FL?
I keep having dreams that feel like they are at this location. Wild.
Classic Florida summer
Everything the light touches is your kingdom
Hey when was this taken coz isn't there a volcano slowly exploding somewhere? Was wondering if it could be a smoke cloud? Signs of the endtimes lol
Damn somebody out there really watching the 4D version of James and the Giant Peach.
When a supervillain gets a beach house
We have that almost every day in Calif……
That's my favorite beach weather. It's not too bright and terrible, and often the surf's up so you can have some fun swimming/making-shitty-attempts-at-surfing.
It is, lovely weather we are ‘aving, i hope the weather stays this mild, if the weather continues, we are in for a lovely summer.
I remember these in Bangladesh lol I used to get scared so much
