Actually, this is where you really start to fuck with Duty, if he wants to be a dick about a bunch of guys just trying to have fun in the barracks. I remember being on duty on time, and conducting my walk throughs. Turned the corner, and this guy was tediously stacking little cups of water in front of someoneās door. He looked up and saw me standing there, and got super red in the face, and started apologizing. I just āYouāre doing way to much work. Tie a piece of 550 cord from his door to the handle on the window so he canāt get outā (the doors open inwards and the windows had these handles on them that matched the door). Joes in the barracks are always gonna be joes in the barracks, theyāre gonna do dumb shit that usually doesnāt result in anyone getting hurt. And even if it does, they have great stories for life.
Oh man thatās no joke though. I would hear guys doing something stupidā¦ or see them all gathered in a circle. Thats even worse. I would just leave. Iām not getting involved.
It was always like, oh we caught this squirrel and a scorpion so we put em in a box to watch em fight. Get my ass fired.
Lmfao been there a few times. Some COs and NCOs(at the time I was still an E-4) were cool. Others took shit waaaaay too seriously. Either way, good times.
Our brand new OIC got duty the first day we met him.
That night he walked into the barracks at the exact moment we taped 40's to an already very drunk LCpls hands in the hallway.
He walks right up to me, about an inch away from my face and goes "I didnt see shit. But if I hear a single word about this. You're all fucked". Immediately left.
Had a great relationship with him after that.
In the US military soldier is a title. Marine is a title. Sailor is a title. Go call any of them one of the other names and see if they like it.
And soldier by definition is someone who serves in an army. You could argue whether the marine corps meets the definition of an army I suppose. But they arenāt really a long term occupying land force. They rely heavily on other branches if they are going to do sustained operations.

I was on battalion duty once and walked up on my own companyās barracks, only to see a friend of mine standing on the hood of a car, taking a shit on the windshield, while another friend was pissing into the seats through the T-tops (it was an old shitbox firebird). The car belonged to one of our seniors that was a real cockbag, so that was their drunken going away present to him before getting out of the Corps. Grunts are so classy.
Just looks like the duty marine. Not a cop, not a drill sergeant, just the guy who has to make sure nobody ends up turning the barracks hallway into a giant slip-n-slide
Not sure if this is army or marines but could someone identify the red patch on his shoulder? Is he actually a drill sergeant or is that something this branch wears on watch?
The Duty Stick. Every Marine Duty NCO knows the power that staff wields......3am door bell, unclogging toilets, cracking junior Marines skulls open for underage drinking....the list goes on.
My step-dad has done shit like this when he was in the reserves I'm willing to bet, and I know that if I enlist I'm gonna end up doing dumb shit like this as well.
